Electronic Game Fair: A Let’s Play Podcast

It's been a while, but we're back with an episode on the N64 action platformer Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon. We find plenty to enjoy in the game's unique sense of humor and hefty technical achievements. Before that though, we've got a hefty segment of other games we've been playing, featuring Tears of the Kingdom spoiler talk, a shocking twist from Eric, and a very special guest!

Nest Month's Game: Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon for the N64

All aboard for this month's episode on the Nintendo Switch train line simulator Densha de Go! Hashiro Yamanote Line. Ride the rails with us as we discuss the ridiculous optional controllers, navigating Japanese menu screens, and pleasing all our rail fans by tooting our horn. It's a weird one, folks!

Our game this month is The Missing: JJ Macfield and the Island of Memories, the 2018 puzzle platformer from Japanese indie designer Swery65. The game mixs lots of heady topics in its narrative with an unusual style of gameplay, but do the 2 halves add up to a satisfying whole?

A programming note: We've got our JJ Macfield and Densha De Go episodes in the can, but due to scheduling haven't recorded Live A Live yet, so the next couple episodes might come out in a shuffled order. It'll be a fun surprise! 

We gotta go fast this month as we discuss Sonic Adventure 2, the game many fans would call the peak of the series. We're joined by Sonic superfan Haytham to guide us through this Dreamcast classic, most of us for the first time. Why are Knuckles and Rouge's levels so bad, and why did one of us play this game twice? This plus all the horny Sonic character talk you expect, because of course. Also the creator of Sonic was arrested for insider trading while we recorded this episode, did we do this?

Some of us tried to go outside to fully experience the Konami GBA cult classic Boktai, but thanks to the wonders of modern technology, most of us didn't have to leave the house. Does the sun sensor really add anything to this stealth action game, and how much secret Kojima is actually in here? We found out this month.

We're back with a cornucopia of golf games to talk about, especially a forgotten PS4 gem!

Well, we did this to ourselves. We vote on these games and we messed up. This month we played the absolute definition of a DS cash-in licensed trash pile, Homie Rollerz. We're not happy about it either, but we found enough to talk about in this shovelware "classic". There's like 10 minutes of this episode where we basically write a GameFAQs guide for this game, so it was all worth it.
