 We should pray for wisdom to make the best decisions for ourselves and others, with God’s guidance.

So how can you serve others? What needs are right in front of you? You will find that in giving yourself away, you find yourself. In creating time to serve you gain something eternal that can never be taken away. Here’s your challenge, serve someone with no strings attached over the next day or two. Jump into serve somewhere at a campus near you. Go above and beyond for someone in your family this week. And watch what God does.

Hebrews was written to a community of Jewish believers who are being persecuted for their faith and beginning to question if it’s worth it to keep following Jesus. They are tempted to turn their back on Him and return to their former Jewish practices. In light of this: For whom in your life are you doing the same?

1. In what relationships do you experience submission- both in submitting to others and others submitting to you? Would you say those relationships are healthy? Why or why not? 
2. Do you think submission is a dirty word in Western culture? Why or why not?

6. In Ephesians 5:21, we are told to submit to one another “out of reverence for Christ”, that is, out of respect for who He is and what He has done for us. When Jesus is your life, you can freely give it to others. In other words, when we are utterly dependent on Christ for our identity, worth and value, we can depend on one another in a healthy way. 
7. What is one relationship this week that you can practice sacrificing your way, yielding to them in love, and seeking their interests above your own? What is one, tangible way you can show that to them?

Prayer: 

Read through Philippians 2:3-11 slowly, out loud, meditating on who Jesus is and what He has done. 

Respond with thanksgiving. Simply thank Jesus for who He is and what He has done.

Request help. Ask for Him to help you to grow in looking like Him and having His same mindset when it comes to submission. Confess ways that you haven’t had this mindset. How do you want Him to change you?  

What will make this the best summer ever won’t be the destinations we go to or the pictures we take, but rather the people we do life with- those we impact and those that impact us. Diversity in all its facets makes the world the beautiful kaleidoscope that it is, but when we become fixated solely on our differences it leads to division.
