In view of the increasing numbers of scam cases, the first wave of advocacy is centered on raising awareness on the topic of scam among Malaysian society. As continuous advocates against scam cases, it is ALSA Malaysia’s belief that the fight against scams is not a one-off advocacy campaign. Furthermore, it is now made more of a stressing need to further the awareness against the surging cases of scams, exacerbated in these pandemic times. On that note, we here coming out with our first episode of Scam: Spot, Avoid and Report Podcast focusing on the Example of Scam cases frequently happening in Malaysia.

Data Privacy is the relationship between the collection and dissemination of data, technology, the public expectation of privacy, and the legal and political issues surrounding them. While more and more personal information is exposed and transactions are carried out online, internet users might be more inclined to believe that privacy in the digital world is impossible. However, the confidentiality of data is still relevant notwithstanding the current digitalised world. When data that should be kept private gets in the wrong hands, bad things can happen. A data breach at a government agency might put top-secret information in the hands of an enemy state. A breach at a corporation might put proprietary data in the hands of a competitor. Hence, is data privacy still relevant or impossible?

Invited Speaker: Karen Abraham, Head of the Intellectual Property department of Messrs Shearn Delamore & Co. With more than 30 years of litigation experience in Intellectual Property matters, Abraham also works very closely with the Malaysian Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (MDTCA) who are vested with the powers of enforcing IP rights under the existing IP legal regime.

Nowadays, disputes in construction industry is a common thing and sometimes could not be avoided. Every construction project is bound to have conflict. Conflict would exist when incompatibility of interest happened. Construction disputes arise from misunderstanding or disagreement between two parties or more, which always arose as assertions for extra money or time in a project. As identified there are an exstensive list of 56 causes of disputes.

In this episode, we dive into this stigma and try to understand a little bit of what really is the issue revolving around it, by altering how we perceive the reality of depression and law school. It’s the stigma that makes it so hard to see an end to depression, as they limit our perspective of things. Once we manage to understand the pattern to this issue, the emotional arousal they cause tends to affect us or anyone physically. If you are thinking,  “Yeah, but you don’t know my life” – remember: there is nothing more awful that you can imagine that someone somewhere has not survived without becoming depressed. It is not your fault if you are depressed, but there are concrete, effective things you can do about it.
