Tempcast - The Official GBAtemp Podcast

Quantity doesn't always mean quality, which is a motto you could certainly apply to this long episode of the Tempcast. Joining us for this special anniversary episode is prominent GBAtemp member and lawyer Eric "Ericzander" Zander. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a mic for him so he used an old pair of half-broken airpods. Join us as we discuss the latest gaming news, such as new additions to the Silent Hill franchise, the N64 title Perfect Dark finally decompiled before Microsoft was able to make a remake, and the Bayonetta 3 controversy. Also, we touch upon a deadly rumor circulating at least on one chinese website - PS5 pro devkits supposedly at the hands of developers as we speak.

In this week's episode we discuss the recent announcements of brand new remakes, such as The Last of Us Part I, Lollipop Chainsaw, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 (lol no), XIII Remake: The Remake, and Sonic Origins. We also discuss the AM2R team coming back with a brand new title on kickstarter. That's pretty much it. I don't know what else to write in the description, it's a pretty boring episode.

In this week's episode we discuss the recent announcements made during Sony's State of Play, revealing titles such as Resident Evil 4, Street Fighter VI, The Simpsons: Return of Graggle, Among Us 2 and much more. We also talk about the new Sonic Frontiers trailer, and whether or not it looks good. Speaking of sub-par trailers, Pokemon Scarlet/Violet received a new one, join us as we discuss the hypersexualization of Pokemon. Finally, we end on a couple of smaller topics - Dark Souls 3 servers coming back, Warcraft 3 reforged maybe coming back, and the Pokemon DP sound library definitely not coming back.

Starting off, we talk about the long awaited update to the legendary DesMuME emulator, finally adding high-resolution 3D rendering and some other features. Alongside the DS, the PS5 finally has made it's first step into the emulation scene thanks to the new Kyty PS4/PS5 emulator beginning it's development. Speaking of great accomplishments in software, Sonic 2006 has finally returned to the Xbox online marketplace, for a great price as well! Finally, we ramble a bit about how bad PS1 emulation is on PSN Plus, after which we discuss SimCopter 64 suddenly resurfacing online.

In this weeks low-energy, zero-motivation episode we discuss some interesting news from the homebrew scene. Starting off, we discuss the Ship of Harkinian Ocarina of Time PC port getting some new updates including 60fps (this portion of the podcast contains a segment where AlanJohn poorly explains how interpolation works and why it's a no-no in gaming). Millions of Windows 95 gamers were heartbroken from the news that the acclaimed emulator Dolphin is going to be available only on Windows 10 (and above), which is something we deeply discuss. PSN Plus or whatever it's called has old games now. Finally, Square Enix has realized they need more money and have started to invest heavily into NFT and other blockchain technology for their upcoming games, join us as we tear apart this idea and explain amateurishly why it's a bad idea. Does anybody remember Pokemon Sleep?

Join us this week as we discuss some of the biggest gaming and homebrew related news in the past week, month or whatever time it's been since the last episode. Starting off, we talk about the new hopefully-not-to-be-DMCA'd-soon homebrew project called Metroid 64 by mexican developer Luto Akino, following up with the new fiscal report for Nintendo's FY. After which, we talk about a newly discovered build of Duke Nukem Forever - with the source code out on the web somewhere, compilable and playable. Square Enix has decided to sell off it's western IPs, we argue whether or not this is good or bad for franchises such as Deus Ex and Tomb Raider (no we don't lol, but we should've).

In this week's episode, we discuss the ESA confirming that E3 2022 won't happen this year, neither live or online. After that, we discuss Ocarina of Time getting a PC port thanks to the de-compilation efforts by the community. Speaking of effort, Sony isn't putting any into a PS3 emulator for the PS5, something we talk about during the PS Plus section of the episode. Finally, One Piece, the hit japanese cartoon series, is getting an RPG. We barely talk about it.

This week, Stephen and Alanjohn discuss two popular news stories about Nintendo taking legal action against people on the internet. First, popular Youtuber GilvaSunner, who uploaded video game soundtracks, had his channel taken down by Nintendo; then, we discuss the upcoming sentencing for Team Xecuter's Gary Bowser. Finally, we touch on a few smaller stories from this week, such as Grand Theft Auto VI's announcement, the release of the Resident Evil 4 HD modpack, and the Nintendo Switch officially outselling the Wii.

Sometimes we talk about news on this podcast. Well, we tried this episode, starting off about Crysis 4, then it devolved into a debate about whether or not LEGO games are real games (spoiler: they aren't), and then we just talked about Legends Arceus for like 30 minutes. I'm sorry for the people who actually expected a cohesive podcast experience detailing the latest news in the gaming world, but this one just ain't it. But hey, there's actually an alternative version of this episode with all of that somewhere on the internet! Can you find it?

Sometimes, there are stories big enough you need to dedicate an entire episode to them. That happened this week, as Microsoft purchased publishing giant Activision Blizzard in a landmark $68.7 billion deal. We break down all the angles on this acquisition, such as the impact Activision Blizzard's recent legal trouble may have had on this deal, the conspiracy about this being an inside job, the scummy moves by Phil Spencer in the press leading up to the announcement, and more!

Sometimes you have weeks when nothing really happens. Then you have weeks like this, when a ton of news both from the homebrew communities and mainstream gaming media is revealed. In this episode, we start off with the biggest controversy so far in 2022 - Microsoft seemingly out of the blue removing dev access for people who paid for it on the Xbox platform, and then doing a complete 180, not 360 as many would expect. We then discuss how GoldenEye 007 might be getting a remaster/remake (maybe?) soon, as well as two community led remakes of Resident Evil and Code Veronica. PCSX2, the well established PS2 emulator (THAT IS NOT AVAILABLE ON THE WIIU AND NEVER WILL BE, SORRY CRAIG FOR LAST WEEKS SCREW UP - Relauby), is finally getting Vulkan support, and promises to deliver better performance compared to the OpenGL renderer. Finally, we end the episode talking about PSVR2 and some rumors.

In this week's episode we dive into the vast homebrew scene of the Wii U, discussing the new Tiramisu environment developed by Maschell. We also talk about how the Wii U is arguably one of the best emulation consoles especially if you have a Tesla. With android phones becoming more powerful by the month, it's no surprise Switch emulators have started development on the major mobile platform. In this episode, we discuss two of them, one of which is the new currently in development Skyline emulator, as well as the controversial Egg NS. Last but not least, we talk about Final Fantasy XVI getting delayed or whatever.

In this week's episode we discuss the PS4 9.00 jailbreak that has made most PS4 consoles out in the wild completely hackable, with the slight possibility that an exploit on the PS5 could be possible in the near future. Speaking of Sony products, apparently one of Death Stranding's unique gameplay features is one of them now. Finally, we briefly talk about the original Splinter Cell getting a remake. Imagine, two people who've never played Splinter Cell, talking about Splinter Cell, what a world...

In this week's episode we have RyRyIV chime in to discuss his love for Resident Evil 4 and why it's practically the best game ever made, even better than his personal favorite Resident Evil 5. While dedicated modders bring the game back to life in HD with an upcoming mod pack, Take Two is issuing trademark violations to seemingly everyone who uses the words Take Two, including the indie game "It Takes Two", which is something we talk about in poor legal detail as well. We also talk about new rumors surrounding Sony planning to create a rival to Xbox's Gamepass, allegedly titled "Spartacus". Join us on this week's four-manned thrilling episode of the Tempcast!

In this week's low energy, last minute episode, relauby and Chary talk about the General Public License, two cool Ocarina of Time homebrew projects, Kojima Productions opening up a new L.A. division, D.C. Douglas possibly leaking a Resident Evil 4 remake, the turnaround on fan reception to Cyberpunk 2077 and Sony's new patent for a mobile controller.

In this week's episode two buffoons and RyRyIV have a somewhat coherent discussion about Rockstar games releasing an apology for the disastrous GTA Trilogy "definitive" edition, which is something we have been discussing every week for the past year or so it seems. There's also possible legal trouble for the CEO of Activision/Blizzard Bobby Kotick on the way, but unfortunately for us, our resident lawyer Eric "Ericzander" Zander esq. didn't do enough preparation for this topic (or any for that matter) which is why we don't have a LAWYER EXPLAINS segment this episode. However, we do talk about the Game Awards nominees, XBox loving emulation, and the Dragon Ball Among Us game. Finally, we discuss the new PS2 emulator for android called AetherXS2, which is now in a closed beta.

Just like the Nintendo console, Tempcast 64 although ambitious proves to be underwhelming in terms of the content it provides. Sure, we have some cool scene news like Pokemon BDSP leaking, as well as the PS2 emulator PCSX2 hitting an important milestone. The PS5 also got "hacked", twice, and we explain in quite poor technical detail why this isn't going to affect the very young hacking scene any time soon. However, this episode is bogged down by a couple nonsense opinion pieces. Do you want to hear even MORE bickering about the GTA Trilogy "Definitive" edition? In this week's clickbait-titled episode we unsurprisingly cling on the news about famous SX OS developer Gary Bowser pleading guilty in the recent lawsuit against him which shook the Nintendo Switch hacking scene. Leading expert and certified lawyer Ericzander chimes in with his superficial, yet at the same time meaningful knowledge about the case and explains what's likely going to happen next in this infamous case. As a highlight, we briefly mention the Bloodborne PS1 de-make coming to PC very soon. We also discuss some other news from the past two weeks because we didn't record an episode last week for some reason (SORRY!), such as GTA SA coming to VR, Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV getting delayed, Take Two cancelling a game we didn't even know was in development, and the Elden Ring gameplay reveal.

In this week's terrifying episode, we dwell into a cauldron of topics. Starting off, we revisit the Sega Saturn emulator found in the release of Cotton Guardian Force on the Switch, which was discovered by GBAtemp user lisreal2401. We also discuss RPCS3 hitting an incredible milestone of being able to boot every single PS3 game, as well as the Uncharted trailer. We briefly touch upon how the recent Nvidia GeForce Now leaks are slowly becoming true with the announcement of God of War (2018) coming to PC. Finally, we talk about Concerned Ape's Haunted Chocolatier and make some extremely inappropriate jokes that will no doubt get us cancelled if not now then in the future.

In this week's mediocre but thankfully short episode, we discuss the few things that happened this week in regards to the Switch. Specifically, the price reveal for the Switch Online "expansion pack" being as disappointing as this podcast. If you have a Switch OLED and want to play N64 games at a reasonable price - you might just be in luck, for it seems the new model has the same vulnerabilities as the previous one. But what if you're more of a Sega Saturn type of person? Thankfully, we discuss in this episode how a fully functional emulator for the system was found in a recent Switch release. Finally, we touch upon the Metroid Dread credits controversy and Steam banning NFTs.

On this week's disorganized episode, the crew talks about the major Twitch hack that happened this week, and touches on the Facebook outage while discussing a new program that allows you to disconnect your Quest 2 headset from your Facebook and Oculus accounts. Also, resident Metroid fan AlanJohn gives his thoughts on Metroid Dread and resident Kingdom Hearts fan Ericzander lectures us on the KH timeline and the implications brought on by Sora's inclusion in Smash Bros. Finally, we quickly touch on some other news of the week, like the GTA Trilogy remaster finally getting announced, the trailer for the new Resident Evil movie, and the Rape of Nanjing.

Low energy, little effort - you can use these words to describe a lot of things. For example, the rumors spread by certain websites this week, or this episode of the Tempcast. Alongside those topics, we also touch on the subject of Blizzards CEO getting a subpoena, in our lawyer segment led by special guest Eric "Ericzander" Zander esq., who unfortunately had to practice social distancing during the recording of this episode, for he is an avid anti-vaxxer and refuses to wear a mask, because it "muffles the quality" of his voice track.

In this week's episode, we start off by detailing a cool new homebrew project that demakes Rocket League for the Nintendo Gamecube. Then, we speculate on what the rumoured Netflix Pokemon live-action show will look like, before speculating on the reasons behind Horizon Forbidden West's rumoured delay. Finally, we close out the show with an update on the harassment allegations plaguing Activision Blizzard.

In this week's episode we discuss the announcements from EA's Live presentation, specifically just one - Dead Space getting a remake. None of us ever played Dead Space 1, 2 or 3 so choosing this topic to discuss was a silly idea, but there really wasn't much else going on this week. We also talked about how the Dolphin emulator now has mGBA integration (something we've already talked about in a previous episode but still really cool). And finally, Eric "Ericzander" Zander Esq. gives us a detailed report on the recent civil case filed against Activision by the state of California.

In this week's episode we talk about YouTuber VK, who has seemingly found a way to permanently fix the drifting issues plaguing the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con for years. Though we cannot confirm whether or not this resolves the issue 100% completely, people have reported positive results. We also discuss the newly announced Switch Pro - I mean, Steam Deck from Valve. And finally, the biggest announcement of them all - Nickelodeon is making their own Smash Bros clone with all of their characters in it. Netflix's gaming strategies are briefly mentioned in this episode as well.

In this week's episode we finally discuss the new Switch model being announced and the disappointment it brewed in the community, as well as  some Assassin's Creed/Ubisoft stuff nobody really cares about. After  that, we briefly talk about the new GBAtemp raffle happening soon. Finally, for the most controversial topic by far, Eric "Ericzander" Zander joins us to give his legal take on the situation in Japan, where a young BoTW save editor is in jail for just that - editing saves.

In this week's brief episode we discuss the announced partnership between Konami and "The Medium" developer Bloober, Kojima productions allegedly signing a letter of intent alongside Microsoft, and Sony acquiring PC port studio Nixxes. We also give an update on the ongoing Blue Box / Kojima situation, which is seemingly getting more convoluted as time goes.

This week, Stephen and Chary sit down to give some quick updates related to E3 announcements that have trickled out in the week following the show on games like Legend of Mana, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Back 4 Blood. They also give two Kojima-related updates; one on a fan revival of Metal Gear Online that's now playable on PS3, and one about the delay of the possibly Kojima-helmed Abandoned. Finally, they discuss Cyberpunk 2077's relisting on the Playstation Network.

In this week's episode we start off with a recap of E3 2021, discussing  our favorite announcements and cringiest moments. This segment includes a brief discussion about Metroid Dread and some Zelda theories. Afterwards, we briefly discuss Elden Ring's new gameplay trailer. Finally, we tackle the hottest conspiracy in the gaming world right now - the enigmatic Blue Box Game Studios, which is supposedly working on a PS5 exclusive title codenamed "Abandoned", and is believed to be a fake studio created by the one and only Hideo Kojima. Detailing almost all that is known currently, listeners will be able to decide whether or not this theory holds ground, at least until June 22nd when the gameplay reveal will happen (as a PS5 app, as strange as that may seen). In this bite-sized episode, we bring you the news of the week that's happening outside of E3. Namely, Geoff Keighley's competitor to E3, the Summer Games Fest, ran earlier in the week and had a few interesting announcements, including a director's cut of Death Stranding. We also detail the recent EA ransomware attack that saw the source code for the Frostbite engine stolen, along with Xbox & Playstation SDK & api keys.

In this extra late edition, we take a look at a recent lawsuit against Capcom filed by a photographer who alleges they stole her work without licensing it. Continuing with that theme, we discuss a lawsuit filed against the proprietor of a ROM site. Finally, in preparation for E3 starting tomorrow, we give our predictions on what we'll see at the show this year.

This week, Stephen and Eric are joined by resident Resident Evil expert Jordan to break down the newest release in the franchise: Resident Evil Village. We give our broad opinions on it before diving into spoilers, going into our favourite characters, boss battles and where we think the franchise might be headed after this. Also, Eric doesn't have much to add because he hasn't played Village yet, so all you Zanderheads out there be warned!

This week, we're running a skeleton crew with only Ericzander and Stephen on hand to discuss this week's topics such as the appearance of possible SX OS clone chips, Sony's partnership with Discord, and the possibility of a lawsuit targeting Sony's control of its digital marketplace. We also discuss several big revelations that have come out of the ongoing Epic vs. Apple trial.

Look, I'll be honest with you: not a lot happened this week. We tried to talk about the new connectivity between the Dolphin emulator and mGBA, but we ended up talking about GameBoy Advance Video cartridges. We tried to talk about Konami ditching E3, and just talked about how weird Yu-Gi-Oh! is nowadays. The real death knell this week was the Among Us jokes. I don't know what to tell you. They can't all be homeruns. At least we give Activision...
