#082— I will never ever open up my chain again to clean it
In this episode I talk about the last ride for next couple of days as I’m taking a break not only from mountain biking but also from work etc.
I talk about how my perception of the rides isn’t really matching with the data. Very Strange.
Furthermore I share the story which has been caused by the derailleur. Which is probably not assembled properly by me. -.-
Furthermore I share a story about how I opened my chain once to clean it. It didn’t end well after 6 months of riding. Try not to make the same mistake.

#081— 3 days of exercising, I thought this is my limit
On Friday I did my usual training, on Saturday I thought it will be a rest day but I went for a 6k run and obviously I did my training today on Sunday.
I thought I won’t be able to keep up my normal pace today but it seems like since running and biking are two completely different movements for my legs this wasn’t the case at all.
Listen to this episode to find out how the training on Wednesday, the training on Friday and the training today on Sunday was any different. I would have guessed wrong.

#080— I’m back in the mountain bike business
In this episode I talk about finding an alternative route.Since 3 weeks my “old” exercising route is covered with icy parts. You will be surprised who simple the alternative will be, to be honest it is so simple I was completely blind to it for more than 2 weeks.
Furthermore I talk about how the ride on the new route went, I thought 2 weeks of casually running would be the same as not exercising at all but the results look quite promising.

#07 9— I guess I will rename this podcast !
This episode is all about how the interval training session will continue and what the latest running sessions have been about.
I’m honestly considering to rename the podcast to match my future ambitions.
Check out this episode to see understand the next steps I will make with this podcast.
Furthermore I share my last 5k, the time it took me, the pace I was running and which “trick” I’m using to run consistently at the more or less same pace without checking my watch for the pace.

#07 8— 5 things I didn’t knew about mountain biking
This episode is all about 5 things I didn’t knew before I started out mountain biking. And I wish I knew those thing.
I learned them either from friends or the hard way :D
And I share quickly why I’m currently not able to ride my bike.
p.s. at the beginning you can tell that I recorded this episode early in the morning :D

#07 7— Will I ever be able to ride again?
In this episode I talk about how the weather forced me to skip the training session on last Friday. Actually I forgot that to check the weather …
Besides that I talk about the hard decision I had to make today. And how going up the hill by care was part of that …
Let’s hope things get better in the next few days, but I think I found an alternative already ...

#07 6— Being inconsistent showed me something interesting
In this episode I share with you the wardrobe choices I made on the last few rides. As the temperature isn’t always the same, I had to adopt.
Find out what worked for me and what didn’t.
Furthermore I tried to compare my last 5 rides on a deeper level. As I had the feeling that the breaks in between each interval made the rides uncomparable.
Then I discovered that one ride was particular well with an extreme high average speed in the intense intervals. I looked through all available data only to discover that the answer was only visible in my journal.
Listen to this episode to find out what made me ride that fast and even exceed my maximum heart rate zone by 2 bpm.

#07 5— When technology takes a break
On this ride I struggled a lot. Not from a physical perspective but technology-wise. GPS not working, HR strap not working, bike light not charged to the max.
While all these little helpers haven’t been working, I had to rely on my feelings and sensation.
Don’t be shy, say hi! :)

#07 4— Maxx Bike Eldorado
You might have noticed that I skipped one session on Tuesday. This was due to an important meeting I had to do.
I used the down time to visit my favorite bike shop Maxx Bike Eldorado. They serviced my bike in a proper way.
I want to say thanks again for all the things they exchanged: braking pads, disc rotors, the cassette, the smallest chainring on the front, the oil in both brakes, the chain.
Furthermore I talk about the ride on the 23rd of January. Cold but not too cold. And how the 2 days of rest affected it in a very positive way.
Don’t be shy, say hi! :)

#073 — How intense training can make you sick (+ easy solution)
In this episode I share with you the big insight I got in the last few weeks from being sick in mid December. I found out that exercising is generally good for my health but extreme and intensive exercising can lead to much more sick days.
Luckily I talked with my friends about this and one of them had a pretty simple solution as he experiences the same thing as I did. Getting sick from too much training. I share with you the secret he shared with me. Train hard without the risk of getting sick.
Don’t be shy, say hi! :)

#72 — No matter how much I exercise adopting a new routine is difficult
In this episode I share 2 things with you which messed with me on the first maximum interval session: lack of focus when cars where near me + the cold
The temperature said ok but it felt freezing cold.
The cars kind of need that much attention that my focus gets dragged away from my legs.
Furthermore I explain why doing those 2 weeks of training is pretty difficult in the beginning.
Don’t be shy, say hi! :)

YouTube: Georg Schwienbacher
#71 — Question your inner beliefs
Things happen. Such as recording an episode a day late :D
In this episode, I talk about how my reference ride after 3 weeks of intensive interval training went. I can tell you I did my improve my time but the result I got was not that trustworthy.
Furthermore, I learned an extremely valuable lesson: always question your current actions. In my case: Not pedaling as hard to be able to ride the whole ride.
Listen to this episode to find out why the result was questionable and what “questioning yourself” can do for you.
Don’t be shy, say hi! :)

#70 — Being fit is only fun when you don’t exercise
Today was “reference ride” Sunday. As I needed some trail action not only for me but also on camera I went for a longer ride on Saturday. One of the best rides ever.
Awesome new trail right next to where I live which I didn’t know combined with a beautiful sunset.
I wanted to do the reference ride on Monday but there was one thing which would happen on Monday which would make it impossible to do.
More details in this episode
Don’t be shy, say hi ! :)

#69 — Always put your feeling above the data (Here is why)
This episode sums up everything what I did so far for all the new listeners. What the current training is like, which routine I’ve created. I share the story of me reducing the uphill time by 21 minutes. Yes, 21 minutes after only 6 months.
I share how the active rest day which I did in the last few days work. Or if they even worked as expected ?!
More evidence will follow on the next episode, after the reference ride.
Don’t be shy, say hi ! :)

#68 — Don’t mess with your sleep, or it will mess with you
Today's ride has been affected by something I didn’t experience in a long time. Sleep deprivation. I only slept 5h rather than 7-7,5h which I normally do.
In this episode I talk about all the negative aspects not only during today's ride but also those which I’ve experienced throughout the day.
The stats as usual don’t lie :/
Instagram: georg1sc
YouTube: Georg Schwienbacher
#67 — One easy ride before the training changes everything
Yesterday I discovered that not the active rest day but more the ride I do in my lunch break of the same day when I do my interval training is improving my riding. Unfortunately I still have to test this on a larger scale but the data so far looks promising.
Improving my stamina without increasing the training intensity. ;)
Instagram: georg1sc
YouTube: Georg Schwienbacher
#66 — I didn’t felt like going for a ride (my solution to this kind of feeling)
Being consistent with my training isn’t always easy. Particularly if the wind is blowing like crazy and the temperature around 2°C (35,6°F). But I knew that I’ve committed to train to ride faster than I did with the eBike back in May.
I went for the ride and it was as every other ride. Perfect temperatures, at least for me, a good training pace and the wind wasn’t even blowing that hard on “my uphill”.
In the end we all create things in our head which are not true at all.
“It is too cold” “It is too XYZ”
In this episode I share what made me do the ride no matter the conditions waiting for me.
Instagram: georg1sc
YouTube: Georg Schwienbacher
#65 — I knew consistency is key but this result blew me away
In this episode, I don’t talk about my latest interval training session. As I skipped it. I wasn’t in the mood for a training session so I decided to go for a longer ride. A ride 3 times longer than my usual training is. With 3 times the difference in altitude.
The ride led me up until 1500 meters above sea level which meant riding over ice (without spikes)
Furthermore, I share the time of the uphill, compared to the time I rode the exact same uphill in May 2018 and this ride is huge. Completely nuts. I was never expecting the interval training to work that well.
Instagram: georg1sc
YouTube: Georg Schwienbacher
#064 - Is this too easy to see results ?
I do it too. Being lazy. Therefore I skipped 2 episodes in the last few days so I have to wrap them up in this single episode.
What I haven't shared so far: one reference ride, two interval training sessions.
I talk about why I haven't achieved the goal of crushing the first time by Christmas and why I've decided to ride the paved uphill.
In the last few rides I noticed that a high heart rate doesn't equals in a fast pace.
Besides that I share my concern on the current training method
as it seems way too easy.

#063 - NEVER EVER excercise when you're sick !
#063 - NEVER EVER excercise when sick !
After 2 weeks of not posting any episode I decided to do an episode outside of my riding schedule.
As I've been sick 2 weeks ago and still not feel 100% good again I didn't went for a ride since.
As my epsiodes usually are in synch with my training I
haven't posted since then.
This epsiode is different. I don't talk about my latest ride are there is no last ride.
This episode is about the disccovery I made while and because of me being sick.
I discovered that there is a connecting between my last ride
episode 062 - LSD is hell of a drug and my illness.
Furthermore I discovered that my resting heart rate was already predicting my illness days before it actually happen.
This sent me down a rabit hole of research to learn more about my body, my heart rate and what the so called "open window" effect has to do with it. My research has only began and I'm light years away from being an expert.
But I still wanted to share this, in my opinion very interesting information, about how all these aspects come into account.

#062 - LSD is hell of a drug
.
But it worked out better than I thought, even better as before ? It resulted even in a performance improvement.
.
I exceeded 180 beats per minute and was able to improve my riding performance on the first interval, which was the complete opposite if you compare it to the second interval.
.
And then comes the third interval. It started off well no pedaling on the flat section but pure uphill fun.
It was extremely hard but I thought: "Why mess it up now after putting in all the work on the previous intervals ?!"
.
I was so focused towards the end that I had a pretty strange experiencing. I wasn't able to recognize my surrounding even after riding this uphill for pobably more than 30 times. In this episode I talk about how that happened. I assume taking drugs makes you feel similar.
.

#061 - ONE thing which has to be built and cannot be transfered
Your mind starts and your body will follow.
I learned this now more and more through different experiences
which I've shared in episode #44 - 4 things why YOU are not improving and episode #058 - THIS training mindset is key for me.
.
Right now my biggest struggle is to transfer the mindset and workethik I've developed around mountain biking and the project13 to other parts of my life.
.
In this episode I try to think about some possible solutions.
.
.

#060 - The one thing which will make YOU successful (not only on your MTB)
Even though the ride was average I taught me probably the most important life lesson ever.
.
And therefore this episode is more of a philosophical episode.
.
As I've found the one thing which leads to success.
I was and I am guilty of the analysis paralisis, which means like doing research on how to do it for way to long without taking action.
.
In this episode I talk about the one and only thing which sets successful people apart from normal people.
.
This is so key but yet so simple.
.
.

#059 - People think I am a car
Today was probably also the very first time I reached 180 bpm during a ride. This is probably my maximum. I talk about how I was able to have the best intervals (I and III) but messed up interval II.
And today happened something pretty funny: People don't fully grasp what I am when they see me during the ride: a car ? a motorcycle ? a unicorn ?
Who knows.

#058 - THIS training mindest is key for me
But after a few meter it felt perfectly warm. As usual a pure mindest thing.
Strangely the warmup today felt pretty easy even while maintaining a good pace. Already results ?
Besides that I talk about my approach during training
and how you can change your training in order to make you invincible during the race day or on days where it counts to outpreform everybody.
At the end I share with you how I expected yesterdays crash on the trail to affect my training. But luckily it wasn't even though a few parts of my body are still hurting.
All the details about the crash on this podcast episode.

#057 - Do THIS to feel awesome after your ride
which kind of struggles have followed me along the way
during my winter rides. How I was able to not track part of todays ride and how the new interval training approach is affecting the feeling after the ride.
I share one little secret which will make you
enjoy your rides 10x more than before.
(Spoiler: The joy comes up after the ride not during the ride :D )
Btw. Sorry for the bad audio, I have no idea what I've messed up today
.......................................................................................
Instagram: georg1sc
YouTube: Georg Schwienbacher (Link in Instagram Bio)
#056 - Back to reality
as I thought yesterdays performance wasn't the best I could do.
Todays focus was on not exagerating on the steep section in the middle to preserve some energy for the last section.
I was able to save some energy there and I felt quite fast.
But looking at the numbers the result was disillusioning.
Not even the same time.
But thats probably caused by two main "issues"
So I will stay with the time from yesterday.
Furthermore I will share why I won't put out another episode until Friday. Real life "problems" :D
.......................................................................................

#055 - Maxing out hasn't worked out today
After doing the interval training in the intense hearrate zone (in my case: hearrate below 168 bpm and above ~140)
I had to choose the "old" uphill as the new uphill was only 2,2km as a construction site is blocking it from there on.
Nonetheless the uprooted trees after the heavy storm I rode the old uphill, but it was more or less safe to ride.
As I haven't ridden this uphill since 3 weeks I had a hard time pacing myself. As if I'm messing it up in the beginning
it is hard to recover afterwards if not impossible.
I talk about this in greater detail in this episode and I also reveal if I was able to improve the time.
p.s. recodring a podcast episode with a hiccup is difficult :D

#054 - Don't think, DO !
Often times I go for a ride and I think, well I have nothing to share with you but this concept is following me now since more than half a year.
.
First of all I thought I would be scared riding in the dark, alone in the forest. But I found the complete opposite to be true.
And this made me think why that is like it is.
.
And therefore I came to the conlusion that we often times think way to much of what could go wrong etc.
I tend to think about things which then never happen.
.
For me it looks like having a basic idea and then executing it immediately is the best solution.
As we don't know if something works out or not or if we like something or not unless we have tried it out.
.
This applies to so many aspect of my life.
And I hope this is something you can benefit from as I do.

#053 - Mediocre results are for others
It was colder than usual but not too cold.
I encountered a hind (female deer).
And before even starting I didn't felt like riding today.
All in all I pushed through and I share with you what keeps me going even at 3°C/38°F.
The next few weeks will be fun as I plan to ride through out the whole winter as I've set one goal for myself.
Which is a non negotiable.

#052 - How to increase your endurance without exercising
temperature wise, but not feeling wise.
I had to take a little bit different approach to the uphill
as there was a smaller obstacle which I had to pass.
Furthermore I talk which learning I was holding back (unintentionally) for the last month.
The lesson involves a technique on how to save energy
while increasing your pace. I see this problem a lot especially on riders who are riding every now and then.
You are capable of much more than you think.
This tip can be easily applied and brings instant results.

#051 - The sound of silence
I can ride whenever I want.
So I decided to go for a ride right after lunch
to benefit from the warm sunrays.
That meant: Changing the uphill from one side of the valley to the other
In the episode I talk about what was different
and why I only was able to ride 3,7km in 30 minutes.
Besides that I talk about what I like to do at the end of a ride
if I have some spare time.
.......................................................................................

YouTube: Georg Schwienbacher (Link in Instagram Bio)
#050 - How water is affecting your ride
In this episode I talk about how big the temeprature difference was
down in the valley and up in the mountains and how it felt.
Furthermore I forgot 2 of the most important things:
Charging up my rear light and bringing water.
But this made me think !
When do I actualy have/should drink during my ride ?
Before, during or after the ride ?!
I share my experience with that,
but this is another topic where I have to do some investigation
and then try it out !
Besides that we celebrate the 50th episode of the podcast !
Amazing, thank you all for your support.

#049 - Do this to your muscles [instant results]
how the riding feels when you are lit like an american christmas tree.
How the air got colder (extremely warm until now for this month of the year)
Furthermore I share with you some boring stats about my ride.
I was able to ride further in the warmup due to this reason share in the episode.
Besides that I started again doing this "thing" to my muscles which brought my instant results.
My legs have been hurting but in a very pleasurable way. Furthermore I share with you
my new camera accessory which will give me the ability to capture some unique shots in the future.
.......................................................................................

#048 - My average heart rate blew me away
it was a challange to pace myself correctly. Steeper and flatter sections
made it hard to riding consistently at the maximum possible.
Having a heart rate monitor helped a lot to be consistent.
My aim was to push as hard as I could for this specific distance
which meant I had to perform in my maxmimum hearrate zone.
When I finsish the ride I checked the stats.
The average heart rate through out the ride completely blew me away.
.......................................................................................
Instagram: georg1sc
YouTube: Georg Schwienbacher (Link in Instagram Bio)
#047 - It was hurting
almost made me quit for yesterdays training session. I had to find an alternative to make the trianing happen either way. No excuses !. It showed me how necessary 3000 lumes are for a safe ride through the night.
Besides that my legs have been hurting half way in the ride. I have no clue where this comes from. A very rare feeling especially in the last few weeks.
My new watch keeps getting better and better as I'm discovery more and more handy features
to support my journey to beat the eBike time. Will the new uphill which has this one little difference help me achieve it ?
.......................................................................................
Instagram: georg1sc
YouTube: Georg Schwienbacher (Link in Instagram Bio)
#046 - Another thing which isn't true
furthermore I share some stats about todays ride which are currently completely not comparable to the last 2 months
of training as I have very few data points on this particular uphill.
Besides that I did some research on the heart rate zones
and it looks like I've found something which I thought to be true but isn't.
.......................................................................................
Instagram: georg1sc
YouTube: Georg Schwienbacher (Link in Instagram Bio)
#045 - I thought it was over. WRONG !
why I had to completely resturcture my training
by choosing a different uphill route.
Besides that I got to know my new watch which is recording
my hear rate and other fancy metrics a little better.
Which means a gazzillion more ways to have better insight in my riding
but it also has its downside during the training, but I've figured out already a solution for that.
For now I thought that the interval training expirment will be done and I've figured out the best method so far.
But it looks like there could be an additional way to improve my riding performance even more.
Check out the current episode to see what this small little detail is.

#044 - 4 things why YOU are not improving [+ 4 easy solutions]
No ride log of the latest interval trianing session
as I won't be able to ride today, on Saturday the 03rd of November.
On this episode I focus on 4 things I've discovered to hold me back while riding.
This advice isn't something I collected on several YouTube videos and blogs.
This is real life advice which I experienced and tried myself.
.
You probably aspire to ride that section faster than your friends
or you really want to nail that particular trick every time you try it.
.
I know that feeling.
.
Here are the 4 things which are holding you back [+ solution]:
- Having excuses
- Quitting too early
- Trying too many things
- Trusting other peoples opinion
Do me a favor: If you don't listen to the whole episode listen at least to the section at 11:29
this is really key and allowed me to learn 10 times faster.

#043 - This will change my riding forever
and why I decided to go on a different uphill road.
Spoiler: I've never seen the forest like this before.
Besides that I talk about a nice little gadget I now can use during my ride
which ultimately made me a pro (Just kidding I still have to put in the effort, but it will allow me to adapt my training even more to my body type)
And I have to admit that I'm probably the worst bike owner of all
not just for one reason but for serveral.
Check out this episode to get to know my bad habits.
.
And sorry about the bad quality,
it looks like I was recording a lot of noise.
I tried my best to filter it out in post production.

#042 - This decision could have cost me my life
from Monday to Tuesday, uprooting trees, flooding villages etc.
I already new that there will be a lot of fallen branches on the trail and probably a few smaller trees which have been uprooted and blocking the trail.
But when I came to ride the trail itself I was shocked.
I didn't excpected it to be that bad.
Let's see how long it takes to get the trail "ridable" again.
More details about the desctruction level in this episode.

#041 - The pattern keeps repeating itself
I couldn't skip the interval training. That was no option and will never be an option.
I talk about how I managed not to get wet,
besides that I talk about what my main focus will be on the next rides,
why I assumed that I will perform worse than I did.
Very interestingly a pattern which I noticed lately keeps repeating
itself over and over again.
The pattern relates to my overall performance,
where putting in more effort will result in worse results as if you change that one little thing.
Furthermore I talk about "the connection" which I guess have lost throughout the last year
or probably never had.
.......................................................................................
Instagram: georg1sc
YouTube: Georg Schwienbacher (Link in Instagram Bio)
#040 - Changing 20 year old habits is hard
on has cost me a lot of stamina so far, but I also have to admit that I'm partially responsible for that.
Beeing more present is still a big topic in my life
and I try to apply it to more and more areas of my life, including mountain biking.
So far I cannot say if it helps or not
but here I talk about what my assumptions are for the next few weeks
on what to expect from this thesis testing.
Furthermore I'm still uncertain how important the active restday is
to my training, as it looks like if I'm skipping one session the next ride isn't as good as if I would have done the active restday training.

#039 - You don't know this if you never have been in the mountains
which you only experience in the mountains, and even there it is rare.
It changed the riding conditions by 180°. In my favor. To be specific; the complete opposite to the ride 2 days ago.
Besides that I talk about on a new experiment I'm currently trying
to figure out one thing which looks like was holding my performance back
since my birth.
Furthermore I talk about the downhill experience after my crash
which will benefit not only me in the long term.
Another point I'm talking about is the fact that the trail
is perfectly ridable if this one thing will be done.
I still have to talk to the guy in charge who will make it happen.
.......................................................................................

#038 - Thinking is the enemy
which had it all.
Beautiful scenery due to the autumn colors
and a crash.
I try to reconstruct how that could have happened
on a trail which I rode probably a million times.
Furthermore I talk about how the crash is related
to a book I'm currently reading.
Besides that I talk about a recurring thought I'm always having
which quickly vanished when I actually get to tride my bike.
And yesterday, the 22nd of October was the very first day of Autumn in my opinion.
15°C/59°F made me overthink about what to wear on this ride.

#037 - I'm sorry
and why I didn't published an episode the last few days.
Furthermore I talk about how the alternative exercise during the business trip turned out
how different it was in contrast to mountain biking in the woods
and what discovery I made which will probably affect me until next Monday.
At the end I share with you a thought I'm carrying around since a few weeks
which will intensive my training a lot.
And which will require huge goals to achieve.

#036 - At Christmas it will happen ...
which I didn't consider before and have basicaly nothing to do with the training itself.
I talk about how the forst road killed my pace
and I had a hard time recovering from exagerating before.
Absolutely strange is the fact that looking at the stats my app recorded
don't match my reality while I was riding.
Besides that I found something in my stats which will extend
the interval training until march (5 months to go)
.......................................................................................

#035 - Connecting with likeminded people is key
Furthermore I talk about how the ride went and how an upcoming business trip will challange my in a completely new way.
Check out this episode to find out how I'm takling the training during the business trip, how my rear tire is make problems at the beginning of each ride.
Besides that I've experienced a completely new feeling, a very strange type of focus.

#034 - Your assumption about me is completely wrong
----------------------------
Furthermore I have to revoke a statement which I made in one of the last episodes as today it turned out not to be true anymore. (amazing how fast my body is adapting)
----------------------------
I talk about how a foam roller or black roll is a good way to "repair" your muscles from within to increase their mobility.
----------------------------
And then I talk about that you probably assume that after riding every other day the interval are getting easier. Which is completely wrong. I also talk about how I use a certain emotion to get better and push trough the hard parts.
----------------------------
Also an important part since the last few days is my new mindest which keeps me pushing further than anybody else even if things get harder.
----------------------------
And todays lesson was: From now on always bring a bike light, I'm talking about the reasons for that and what it has to do with the italian law on this episode.
