Meditations of peace and good - meditations of Jesus in the tradition of Franciscan spirituality

This episode is the end of the series on Jesus coming to His friends on the Lake of Galilee to calm their fears, and of Saint Francis calling the ferocious wolf of Gubbio his brother.

In this episode we focus our attention on Saint Peter calling out to Jesus to come to Him and of Peter's failure and Jesus reaching out to save him. We also look at Saint Francis reaching out to brother wolf to rescue it with love.

In this episode we continue with the gospel of Jesus calming the storm on the Sea of Galilee and of Saint Francis welcoming the wolf as his brother.

In this episode we continue with the gospel account of Jesus and the storm on the lake, and of Saint Francis and the wolf. Jesus not only sees and knows of our struggles and fears, but He cares for us and is present to us in our need.

In this episode we begin reflection of the gospel of Matthew in the telling of the storm on the sea and Jesus walking on the water to His friends and calming the sea. That gospel is used along with the story of the wolf of Gubbio to illustrate fear being defeated by God's love for us.

This is the 10th and last verse of the Canticle of Creatures. In this verse, Saint Francis sings praise and thanksgiving and service to his Lord God. It is a good example of our prayer in humility and grandness.

In this episode we listen to the 9th verse of the Canticle of Creatures. In that verse Francis praises the Lord through Sister Bodily Death. At Francis's death he proclaimed that he did what was his to do. What is it that we are called to do? What is our purpose in life?

In this episode we look at the 8th verse of the Canticle of Creatures in which Saint Francis praises the Lord through those that forgive and are at peace with God's creation.

In the 7th verse of the Canticle of Creatures, Saint Francis praised the Lord through Mother Earth. Mother Earth is a gift from God as we, too, are a gift from God.

In the Canticle of Creatures Saint Francis praised the Lord through Brother Fire. How can we call our afflictions brother and be brought to a greater peace and unity with our all-good God?

In the Canticle of Creatures, Saint Francis praised God through Sister Water.

This is the fourth verse of the Canticle of Creatures by Saint Francis. In this verse Francis praises God through Brother Wind.

This is the third verse of the Canticle of Creatures where Saint Francis sings praise to God through Sister Moon.

This is the second verse of the Canticle of Creatures in which Saint Francis gives praise to an all-good God through Brother Sun.

This is the first verse of the Canticle of Creatures. Saint Francis begins his canticle giving praise to the Creator, an all-good God.

This episode is an introduction and reading of the Cantilcle of Creatures by Saint Francis of Assisi. In the next 10 episides we use each verse to open our hearts to the all-good God of creation.

We end the series on the wedding feast of Cana. The servants presented the "gift" of the wine to the steward and to the guests at the wedding. What gifts of the Holy Spirit have we been given to serve the Lord, our master?

At the wedding feast of Cana, Jesus told the servants to fill the jars with water. Where Jesus could have used angels, He chose to use men and women.

As like Mary's instructions to the servants at the wedding feast of Cana, we, to, are called to do whater Jesus tells us.

In this episode we continue with the gospel story of the wedding at Cana. We explore the question of the purpose of Mary in telling her son, Jesus, that they have no wine. That was not a request. We also look at the early life of Saint Francis and what he thought was God's purpose for him. Through these reflections we may ask, "What is my purpose in life?"

In this episode, we listen to Saint Francis' Prayer Before a Crucifix and I present the prayer that I added to the second edition of the book. I call that the Morning Prayer.

In Jesus's life He was often invited by others and Jesus used invitation in His teachings. Am I responding to Jesus's invitation to me? Do I invite Jesus to join me?

That Jesus called His followers His friends is both wonderous and very humbling.  He also told His followers that the Father would trim them to bear more fruit.  As a friend of Jesus we have been called to bear fruit abundantly.  The focus of our life should be to live as a friend of Jesus and to bear fruit to the world.

In this episode we look at Jesus telling His followers and His friends that when we are peacemakers, we will be called sons of God.  This is from the Beatitudes.  In the Beatitudes, Jesus taught of His joy and He invites us to share in that joy.

God Made all things and all things point to God.  How can I use the simple words of Jesus to better know and love my God?

Jesus told His followers and friends that they were the salt of the earth and the light of the world.  Jesus words to his friends are also meant for us.  What is my image of myself?  My every thought, my every desire, my every decision reflects what I am and what I will become.  For what I long for, for what I imagine, I become.  

We may not be able to answer with all surety that we are doing the will of God, but we should be able to affirm that we are in relationship with God and that we know Jesus.  Are we attentive to God's messengers in our life?  Do we spend time to know God, to know Jesus?  Who are the messengers from God in my life?  More importantly, how am I to be a messenger from God to others?   

In this first episode, The author, George Sabol, of the book, "Meditations of Peace and Good," provides an introduction to the podcast.  The first episode Is a reflection of the beginning of Chapter 1 of the Gospel of John where John tells us that all of creation is an intentional thought of God.  Each of us is willed, Each of us is loved.  Each of us is necessary.  We are challenged to be attentive and receptive to what God has called us to be in this life.
