‘Get To The Good Part’ is a podcast driven by a deep love and appreciation for Ernest Cline’s books “Ready Player One” and “Ready Player Two.” We started the show with the premise that there were Gunters like us out there on the hunt for more. What we found was a passionate community who welcomed our humble podcast with open arms.
Thanks for tuning in to our podcast. Now, let’s Get to the Good Part!
Gunters! The word is out that Ernest Cline dropped the book flap synopsis for 'Ready Player Two' at New York ComicCon during his interview with Wil Wheaton. We wasted no time breaking it down for you. It's time to cut to the chase, and Get To The Good Part!
“Good morning, Mr. Tuttle,” the elevator said as I stepped inside. “Floor please?”
“Lobby,” I said hoarsely, and the elevator began to descend.
“Harry Tuttle” was the name printed on my maintenance tech ID badge. I’d given the fictional Mr. Tuttle complete access to the entire building, then reprogrammed my indent anklet so that it was encoded with the Tuttle ID, making it function just like one of the security bracelets that maintenance techs wore.
We have persevered to bring you our review of Terry Gilliam's (aka, Patsy) "Brazil". No need for a receipt, but you can still Get To The Good Part!
This episode was originally published as a Chapter 31 bonus episode on December 13, 2018 to our Patreon campaign. If it's been a while since you listened to our breakdown of Chapter 31, give it a listen! Listen on Apple Podcasts, Anchor, or wherever you get your podcasts.
While trying to decide where to purchase an autographed copy of 'Ready Player Two,' there was a discovery made that is now making waves across fan sites and groups: the 'Ready Player Two' synopsis. In case you hadn't guessed it, there's a new quest on the horizon. With over 100 days still remaining before we can all start reading, we are going to dive deep into the ten sentences containing everything we know about 'Ready Player Two'--so fair warning, spoilers ahead! Drop your jaws, erase the lines between the virtual and the real, and let's Get To The Good Part!
The moment we have all been waiting for... That's right, Gunters, "Ready Player Two" by Ernest Cline will be published on November 24, 2020! It's time to get suited and booted, because your hosts are ready to start dissecting the sequel, starting with the only thing we have: the book cover. When was the last time the release of a new book got you this excited? We don't know anything you don't know, so there are no spoilers here. Feel free to join us as we wonder what symbolism--if any--exists in the cover art, and talk about other wacky ideas about what might happen in "Ready Player Two." Let's not waste any time... let's Get To The Good Part!!!
Everybody relax, we're here, and we're talkin’ to whoever’s listenin’ out there. Yes Gunters, we watched "Big Trouble in Little China" and we're not regretting it. You people sit tight, hold the fort, keep the home fires burning, Get To The Good Part!
This episode was originally published as a Chapter 30 bonus episode on December 13, 2018 to our Patreon campaign. If it's been a while since you listened to our breakdown of Chapter 30, give it a listen! Listen on Apple Podcasts or Anchor.
Aech seemed to be the one they knew the least about. His file contained very little information, and no photo—just a screenshot of his avatar. His real name was listed as “Henry Swanson,” but that was an alias used by Jack Burton in Big Trouble in Little China, so I knew it must be a fake.
We jump right into the first film by George Lucas, the dystopian flick called THX 1138. If we had a choice--and we didn't--we'd of watched something else, but the good news is, we watched it so you don't have to! The movie is about two people living in a repressive, underground and medicated society and what happens when they--gasp--stop taking their meds! (If you do actually want to watch this movie, you may need some meds to stay awake.) Turn on your holograms, and let's Get To The Good Part!
This episode was originally published as a Chapter 29 bonus episode on October 10, 2018 to our Patreon campaign. If it's been a while since you listened to our breakdown of Chapter 29, give it a listen! Listen on Apple Podcasts or Anchor.
It may have taken us a year to get here, but we can finally wrap up our three-part review of "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World," and talk about some of the parallels with "Ready Player One." Don't worry, we are still picking thematic drinks for each Ex, and we threw in a few bonus drinks while we're at it. Grab your gin and tonic, Coke Zero, or whatever wets your whistle, and let's Get To The Good Part!
We had so much to say about "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World," we had to do this episode in multiple parts! It's time to deal with the dirty business of breaking up with Knives, and outsmarting (and outfighting) more of Ramona's evil exes. Get your hair dye ready, grab your favorite Deadly Ex themed drink, and let's Get To The Good Part!
Just over a year ago, we decided to record a bonus episode about the movie "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World." Obviously, we never got around to posting it, but better late than never. If there were ever a non-1980s movie that deserves to be included in Parzival's Grail Diary, this is it! Join us for this in-depth review of a movie that ranks at the top of both of our lists of favorite movies. One might say, we are in lesbians with this movie. We have 7 Deadly Exes to go through, and to numb the pain we are having a special drink for each Evil Ex! This could get interesting. It's time to dress up like a pirate, grab a board to do a grindy thingy, and Get To The Good Part!
Can you believe that Chris has never watched The Breakfast Club? I know, right? Can you think of something better to do on a Saturday? We accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a little time to watch this movie. We knew it was the right thing to do. But we think you're crazy if you didn't expect us to record a podcast about it. Did you ever doubt us? You see us as you want to see us... in the simplest terms and the most convenient definitions. You see us as gunters. Does that answer your question? Grab your very nutritious lunch, with all the food groups represented, and let's Get To The Good Part!
We are dusting off the proton packs, pulling the tarp off the ECTO-1, and looking a little deeper into the trailer to come up with our guesses as to how the story might unfold, how the gang might come back together, and how we might explain some of the things happening at old man Egon's place. Not your average trailer review, strap on your brain scanning colanders and get ready to Get To The Good Part!
Even though Parzival probably knew WarGames even better than he knew Real Genius and Better Off Dead, Aaron hasn't seen Better Off Dead. Truly a sight to behold! So... your Grail hunting gunters are going to see if we can get to know this movie well--for less than two dollars! Put your skis on, and go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way, Get To The Good Part!
Parzival called the movie Explorers, "easily one of the greatest kid flicks ever made." But that is not how your GTTGP gunters remember it. Aaron and Chris go back to their childhood where they find the hopes and dreams of creating a spacecraft and meeting extraterrestrials, to rehash their first impressions as adults. Does it make the grade or will its bubble pop and take a nosedive into the ground.
Along the way we count the ways the kids in this film should have died and mark the point when this movie goes "Full Pee Wee". Let's Get To The Good Part!
This episode was originally published as a Chapter 28 bonus episode on September 9, 2018 to our Patreon campaign. If it's been a while since you listened to our breakdown of Chapter 28, give it a listen! Listen on Apple Podcasts or Anchor.
Destination: Sector 21, Planet Syrinx. Objective: Break down the RUSH opus that is 2112 and pop Chris's RUSH cherry. This episode unfolds this 20 minute song that is pivotal to the book Ready Player One, one movement at a time. Will Chris learn to love rock through RUSH? Can he last a full 20 minutes on his first time?! It's time penetrate your ear holes with Ernest Cline's musical love, and Get To The Good Part!
This episode was originally published as a Chapter 27 bonus episode on August 22, 2018 to our Patreon campaign. If it's been a while since you listened to our breakdown of Chapter 27, give it a listen! Listen on Apple Podcasts or Anchor.
Both are furry and played pivotal roles in the Star Wars universe but which would you side with? Who would you choose in your battle? In each episode of Aech's Basement we tackle the kinds of questions that keep gunters up at night, relating it back to Ernest Cline’s book and movie "Ready Player One."
Grab your Jade Key, because in this episode we are continuing our quest by breaking down the movie Blade Runner. This is Chris's first full viewing of the 1982 classic, and there are a lot of questions to be asked. How is life like a death cake? Why wouldn't this movie fly in today's social climate? What is up with the crazy social plot holes? Prepare your attack ships off the shoulder of Orion, and fire up your c-beams at Tannhauser Gate! It's time to take the Voight-Kampff test, and Get To The Good Part!
This episode was originally published as a Chapter 26 bonus episode on August 5, 2018 to our Patreon campaign. If it's been a while since you listened to our breakdown of Chapter 26, give it a listen! Listen on Apple Podcasts or Anchor.
Would you hit 88 miles per hour to traverse time in your Delorean, or dial up some history in Bill and Ted's Phone booth? In each episode of Aech's Basement we tackle the kinds of questions that keep gunters up at night, relating it back to Ernest Cline’s book and movie "Ready Player One."
If you could choose the Atari or the Colecovision to show up under your tree for Christmas, which would you choose? In each episode of Aech's Basement we tackle the kinds of questions that keep gunters up at night, relating it back to Ernest Cline’s book and movie "Ready Player One."
What would you choose as your OASIS ride? Falkor from the movie 'The NeverEnding Story' or the iconic X-Wing fighter from the 'Star Wars' movies? In each episode of Aech's Basement we tackle the kinds of questions that keep gunters up at night, relating it back to Ernest Cline’s book and movie "Ready Player One."
Welcome back to Get to the Good Part! We have wrapped up Ernest Cline's novel "Ready Player One" and have started a new chapter in the podcast that we are calling the Grail Diary. Each episode will focus on a piece of pop culture referenced in the book, and what better was to start than with The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension! Time to activate the oscillation overthruster, and Get to the Good Part!
Gunters, the contest is over. We’ve won! Now it’s time to take off our visors and face reality, because we have reached the end. But don’t fret! It’s only the end of the book, not the podcast. Let’s wander through the hedge maze of Chapter 39, talk a little bit about the future, and Get To The Good Part! Chris and Aaron would like to thank all of our listeners for joining us for our extended review and analysis of “Ready Player One” by Ernest Cline. Get To The Good Part will continue, but you’ll have to listen to the episode to see where we are headed. Of course, many, many, many thanks, to Ernest Cline for writing a book that has captured our imaginations and turned a couple random guys into cohosts, gunters and friends. (Awwww....)
Stick around, Get To The Good Part will continue!
Gunters, it’s almost time to blow this pop stand. We have a few things left to discuss before the final credits roll, the big red button on our chapter-by-chapter review of Ready Player One is pressed, and we move on to the next big thing. It’s time to get back to reality, grab a decent meal, and Get to the Good Part!
Gunters, it is time to put on your problem solving hats, and your hacker gloves. After 37 chapters (plus a prologue), we need to take all of our Halliday knowledge, make like David Lightman, and figure out how to crack this password without starting global thermonuclear war. It’s time to win the game, and Get To The Good Part!
Whoa there! It is us, Chris and Aaron from the Podcast of Get To The Good Part. Gunters of the OASIS, readers of the novel Ready Player One, defeaters of trolls, and watchers of the movie by the same name! We have spoken at length and in great depths of Chapter 37 in search of Easter Eggs. We must Get To The Good Part!
Well Gunters, we have entered the Third Gate, and what’s past is prologue. There are a few challenges ahead of us!, and with all this pressure, you better be cool or be cast out. It’s time to play out the nightmare turned video game, bang some coconuts together, and Get To The Good Part!
Okay, enough mass death… time to talk about everyone’s favorite thing… OASIS economics. And to sweeten the deal, we are going to be looking up a few words in the dictionary. It’s time to put our thinking caps on and figure out how to get up to the Third Gate. Did any of you have any artifacts? Let us know, so we can Get To The Good Part!
That was a big bada boom, and now, everyone is DEAD, except for Parzival. You know what that means… it’s time to talk about your favorite high death toll movies. Yeah, it’s going to be super uplifting. We have only one gunter left, so we’d better Get To The Good Part, and fast!
IT IS ON LIKE RED DAWN!!! Since our favorite robot-clad Gunters are in the toughest final boss battle of their lives, we asked our listeners to send us what they thought were some of the toughest boss battles they have encountered in video games. Get your controllers ready, because it’s time finish up the best chapter in the book. Don’t wait too long to use that ace up your sleeve, and let’s Get to the Good Part!
IT IS ON!!! Yes, Gunters, it is time for all hell to break loose! This is arguably the best chapter in the book, and we certainly have lots to say. Join us as we talk about various epic battles, that is, if you can avoid being stomped on by robots. Pick your favorite battle cry, and let’s GET TO THE GOOD PART!!!
Are you STILL ready to rock? Our robot-clad heroes are a bit outnumbered, but hey, at least there isn’t any server lag. While we’re waiting for the big event, it’s time to discuss our robot of choice for the epic battle we hope will unfold, if Han can get that shield down. If you notice any supply droids roaming around with anti-matter friction induction bombs roaming around, let us know, will ya? Enough goofing around, let’s Get To The Good Part!
Are you ready to rock? It’s time to fly your favorite ship to the nearest Stargate towards Sector 10, and get your asses to Chthonia. Before all hell breaks loose, we thought it was the right time to judge the robots that Parzival, Art3mis, Aech and Shoto chose. That’s right, it’s time to dig deep into the powers of each robot, and discuss the age old question: does size matter? Try not to hit the shield around Castle Anorak and get vaporized, because we need to Get To The Good Part!
Welcome, my friends! Thank you for flying Automated Airlines, please sit back and enjoy your in-flight entertainment. Today, your favorite Gunters are serving up part 2 of Chapter 33 on our way to the lovely state of Oregon. But don’t wander off looking for Frodo and Samwise, It’s time to learn all about Aech, and figure out how much, exactly, does Og know about the High Five. Get yourselves suited and booted in the latest model Habashaw rig you can find, because it’s time to Get To The Good Part!
Did you catch the teaser trailer for the forthcoming Ghostbusters movie? We did, and spent some time talking about it after we recorded the bonus episode for "Brazil." This episode is open to anyone, so give it a listen, collect some spores, molds and fungus, and then Get to the Good Part!

Pick your jaws up off the floor, it’s time for Chapter 33! That’s right, The Great and Powerful Og has trespassed into Aech’s Basement to make an offer they can’t refuse. Let’s get together and work out some trust issues, discuss who we first imagined could have portrayed him in the movie, and if Og’s deus ex machina would be considered cheating, and of course, the moment we’ve been waiting for, Parzival and Aech meet IRL! Set your destination to Oregon (and try not to knock over any comic books) because it’s time to Get To The Good Part!
We’re back with the rest of Chapter 32, and we’re pretty sure the number 3 is pretty, pretty, pretty important, some might say even magical. This part of the chapter got us talking about the past and the present and the future, trust issues, and a few “what ifs.” Let’s just say, it got a little dark. It’s time to show our trust in Parzival’s plan to take down the shield around Castle Anorak, and get ready to talk face to face with--you don’t have to guess—The Great and Powerful Og! Get your heart and brain and body ready, cuz it’s time to Get To The Good Part!
We’re back for Chapter 32! Yes Gunters, we have materialized at the top of the stairs of Aech’s Basement. But hold on, there’s no time for a quick game of Joust or to flip through your favorite issue of Starlog, because Parzival is here to recap his Hero’s Journey while simultaneously getting the stink eye from Art3mis. Will the (surviving) members of the High Five have FAITH in Parzival and his plan? Will Art3mis forgive Parzival for violating her privacy, or is it beyond HOPE? Of course, we’re still wondering about those 10 zettabytes and just how much data that really is. Get your scrap paper and pencils, and let’s Get To The Good Part!
And while you’re at it, show a little CHARITY and rate this podcast on your favorite podcast platform!
H-h-hey there, compadre! Good job making it through the cool down period for Part 1 of Chapter 31. We are back with Part 2, and we’re pondering all the important questions, like, could a haptic suit effectively simulate a handgun being fired? Plug in to your fat pipe connections, and don’t forget to order the Mondo Upgrade Package, because we have a bunch of zettabytes to upload to you. Get your ass to the nearest OASIS parlor, and let’s Get To The Good Part!

Parzival is busy making his daring escape from IOI, while your Gunter-hosts are off talking about ‘The Martian’ and ‘Star Wars.’ Don’t look so confused, it's all part of the plan. We know you all have Executive Oologist Supply Requisition Orders to submit, so how about we Get To The Good Part!
Everybody relax, we're here. Sorry to leaving you hanging last time, but now we have had some time to think over the question you've all been wondering and we weren't ashamed to ask! That's right, we're talking about horny indentured servants! It's time to hack our way into the Star Chamber, or as we like to call it, sniffing IOI's pipeline. So sit tight, hold the fort and keep the home fires burning. And if we're not back by dawn... you better Get to the Good Part!
It’s time to swallow the red pill and talk about the exciting world of cubicle jobs! There’s so much stuff to talk about in Chapter 30 that your cubicle dwelling Gunters had to split this chapter into two parts. Plant yourself into that office chair, grab your spoon and get ready to tunnel through the labyrinth of firewalls that is this chapter. Part Two will be out soon, and won’t cost you any perk points! Punch that time card, grab that cup of coffee and let’s Get to the Good Part!
We're back in the paddywagon again, on our way to IOI HQ for an inside look at indentured servitude. But hold on to your butts! This is a particularly wacky episode, chronicling the misadventures Chris and Aaron analyzing Chapter 29! Could the OASIS be an effective weight loss tool? Did you know that KFC has a virtual reality training program? Is there more to '42G' than just a bra size? It's time to juggle decoy chicken, reverse inflation, and of course, balls! Don't just sit there, let's Get to the Good Part!
Like sardines pulled from the can, your Gunters are thrown into indenturement with Parzival. Bill collecting from prostitutes? Getting arrested for bouncing a $20 check? What's the best movie featuring kids? And what does "going full PeeWee" mean? This chapter answers all of those questions and more! Get ready to be handcuffed and thrown into the back of the IOI paddywagon as your fearless fans Get To The Good Part!
Your intrepid gunters brave the Temples of Syrinx in search for the Crystal Key. Along the way we ask ourselves what character best voices Ernest Cline? How is Duran Duran like RUSH? Once you're done with this episode, check out our review of Blade Runner! Listen on Apple Podcasts, or Anchor.

But more importantly, we are introduced to two characters in depth, uncovering possibly the true source of Wade's skills. It's a great chapter that is about as important as any we have read so far!
