E8: Three Books to Inspire Your Writing Life
Every week on the podcast, I share three books that you need to know about. Books that make us laugh, make us cry, help us learn and broaden our perspectives, too. But what our writing lives? That was the top question I was asked after releasing Episode 5 where I shared 3 books to inspire your reading life. How can we use books to inspire our writing lives, too? So today, I’m sharing three books that will help us do just that. One book will show us the power of writing in our everyday lives, another will show us the notebooking life in action and another will bring us writing inspiration whenever we need it. You'll find all the books mentioned here on the show notes page, plus much more! If you loved these book pairings, you might like to take a look at my digital reading and writing community called Get Lit(erate). E6: Three Picture Books with Adult Lessons
I vividly remember one particular book from my childhood reading life: The Monster at the End of this Book by Jon Stone. It’s highly immersive, interactive nature set the foundation for all books to come in my reading life, especially picture books. But I realized that I do not celebrate the picture books I read on my reading log nearly enough. So, I’m doing just that inside this episode. By the way, if you want my reading log, you can grab it for FREE in the show notes below.  Today, I’m sharing three picture books that have big, adult lessons. These books encourage us to broaden who we are in the world, know that we are enough just the way we are and even give us a needed mindset shift. You'll find all the books mentioned here on the show notes page, plus much more. If you loved these book pairings, you might like to take a look at my digital reading and writing community called Get Lit(erate). E3: Three Huggable Middle Grade Novels
I have a special page in my notebook that I treasure: Books I’ve Hugged. Yes. These are the books that I’ve loved so much that I did not want to let go of them when I turned the last page…so I didn’t. I hugged them instead.  Today, I’m sharing three of these huggable middle grade novels. And while they are perfect for the middle grade reader in your life, they are also perfect for the adult reader who needs a bit of a bookish hug, too. Here are the books mentioned: The Benefits of Being an Octopus by Ann Braden  The Road to After by Rebekah Lowell How to Find What You're Not Looking For by Veera Hiranandani The Other Half of Happy by Rebecca Balcarcel  Here's the blog post I mentioned on what adults should read children's literature, too! And here's an apology, too. Ed Mylett was actually the person who taught me that there are things that are caught, not taught. I read A LOT of personal development and need to be better at not mixing up my quotes.
