E119: Books Embracing Adult Friendship

E119: Books Embracing Adult Friendship

Every week, I send a bit of bookish snail mail into the world to a fellow reader.

Recently, a reader requested a book around adult friendship and it took me down a rabbit hole of books and notebooking in the most wonderful way.

On this episode, I’ll share a bit about adult friendship statistics, offer a list of books I’ve already mentioned previously on the podcast that embrace adult friendships and discuss three books in more depth that I think you’ll love, too.

Oh…and I’ll share the notebooking prompts I used as I went back and forth from these books to my notebook, too.

E106: Daughters of Green Mountain Gap with Teri M. Brown

Many of us have authors who we adore. We will read ANYTHING they write as soon as they publish it and know with utmost certainty that we will love it.

For me, one of those authors is Teri M. Brown, author of Sunflowers Beneath the Snow, An Enemy Like Me and Daughters of Green Mountain Gap.

Today, she’s back on the podcast to talk about her writing and her recently-published novel. As we did inside our first episode together, we had a wonderful time talking about writing, books and life in general.

Grab your favorite beverage and settle in for a wonderful conversation. I promise you’ll add Daughters of Green Mountain Gap to your TBR after you listen. =)

And it all begins with The Write Habit: A Planner for Writers.

Let me be clear: This planner is not just for writers who want to share their writing publicly with the world. It’s for ALL of us who simply want to bring more writing into our lives….and in the process, make our actual lives better, too.

Come listen as we explore how to create a writing life you’ll love and how a planner can help you do it.

E81: Journaling in The Secret Garden with Keri Wilt

E81: Journaling in The Secret Garden with Keri Wilt

There are many iconic books that we tuck into our reading hearts and one of those books for me is The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

Originally published in 1911, this book still captivates the minds and hearts of many readers and I’d argue the lessons inside are even more important today than they were long ago.

Today, I am talking with Keri Wilt, Burnett’s great-great-granddaughter and a heart cultivator at The Well-Tended Life, a podcast to help you unearth the tools to keep you growing and blooming true in every season.

I loved my conversation with Keri and we talked about all the things: The Secret Garden (and how old she was the first time she read it!), the heart taps inside the pages, her unique journaling technique and much more. I know you’ll love it as much as I did and you’ll be off to grab your notebook (or buy a new one!) to try Keri’s intentional journaling today.

Plus…Keri is offering listeners a chance to win a beautiful, illustrated version of The Secret Garden signed by three generations of Burnetts descents so you can find the magic inside the pages, too. Head to my Instagram page to enter

E80: Fairy Tales as Life Coaching

E80: Fairy Tales as Life Coaching

There’s one genre that I have not read in my adult reading life for a VERY long time…and I know because I keep meticulous track of the books I read: fairy tales.

That all changes starting now!

Today, I’m talking with Donna Fields. She has spent years studying fairy tales and is ready to flip everything we thought we knew about fairy tales upside down…and give us some life coaching in the process, too.

You’ll remember the fairy tales of your childhood, be blown away by one simple, yet powerful, change in thinking and leave with a desire to dive into the next fairytale you read…and your life…with new eyes.

I promise!

E79: Exploring Journal Tip-Ins

E79: Exploring Journal Tip-Ins

Today, I’m sharing a new journaling technique that I’m trying in my notebook: a journal tip-in. It’s a fun way to add function AND beauty to your notebook and I wish I tried it sooner.

I talk about what tip-ins are, how they can serve our notebooks and how we can create one. Then, I’ll get personal and talk about how I’m currently experimenting with tip-ins in my own stack of notebooks and ask for special requests, too.

E74: Books That Can Take Us Places

E74: Books That Can Take Us Places

Today, I’m talking with Kara Infante of the Bookish Flights podcast. What started as a chance to talk about hyperlocal books from the Midwest to broaden my own reading life turned into another chance to talk about the power of books.

Together, we explore how we can use books as tools to take us places AND to prepare us for life moves to those places, too. We’ll uncover the themes present in Kara’s book flight, think about how they relate to our own life values and add even more books to our TBR stacks.
