Exciting news - I’m collaborating on the next issue of Planar Compass (AKA Dream Haven) for Zine Quest 3 launched on Kickstarter in early February. I'll be making a Hex Flower for Astral navigation and a Hex Flower for a living dungeon.

69 - 'Lighting the Cheroot' | Carapace actual play ... basically a fight between PCs and giant ants (** Warning - some strong language**).
The session prior to this one is covered in
Episode 61 (https://anchor.fm/ghench/episodes/61---Carapace-actual-play-ejd160) and on
and covers exploring the giant colony using a Hex Flower Game Engine.
The session ended when the PCs found the Queen ant!
Covers the ensuing fight, and so has no mechanistic meat.
But still, it's a fight right?
Did the PCs prevail?
Back in the day, I wrote an article for '& Magazine' in response to a question on G+ about "making half-elves more interesting".
I'm not sure I'd present this idea this way these days, but here it is if you want to know more:
PS - In my eyes D&D is an escapist game, not the real-world. In 'Star Wars', 'Raiders of the Lost Arc' and 'Where Eagles Dare' the baddies are baddies, innately bad, and we don't question it (because it would spoil the escapism fun of it all).
I'm experimenting with playing online.
This is a play test of my procedural adventure 'Carapace'. It's not the only way to do it. My friend and play tester used 6 pre-gens from the module Tomb of the Lizard King. I wanted fairly high level characters for this play test to ensure that we got to test as much out as possible.

Just X 3 ideas, that rose to top of the writhing mass of thoughts fighting for my RPG attention span - no great ideas, but I figure you might find them interesting, or it might just confirm that you’re already onto the best way forward

Hi all I'm just interested in getting some feedback about my a procedural dungeon generator based on a Hex Flower Game Engine. I'm not gonna say much as I'd rather see what you think ..

I think everyone probably remember MAD Magazine, and in particular the inside back cover, which often had a picture which would fold-in to form a new unexpected picture.
I talk about how to use this concept in gaming, especially used on a sea adventure ...

Back to the Blog episode - where I look back at one of my previous blog post, ... BUT in this case presented in audio format. In this episode I look back at a post I did about making any composite die from two dice. Link: https://goblinshenchman.wordpress.com/2019/01/09/die-from-two-dice/
Had this idea for a crowd-sourced audio dungeon. The idea bring people leave a message which are 1 minute or shorter detailing a room, location, corridor, fresco etc. In a fantasy dungeon. It might be helpful to think of such message as audible “box text”. I might keep this as a living document, updating it as messages come in. Sending a message means that you accept that the content is Creative Commons.
You must remember the parlour game “Consequences”. Well I thought it might be fun to use this format as a ‘Session 0’ PC background builder. Bit like a random table but where people are the dice. See https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/289006/Session-Zero--ConsequencesStyle-Background-Builder

I listen to ChgWiz’s (Michael Shorten’s) The Dungeon Master’s Handbook podcast about 1e ‘surprise’ and wondered if it could be converted into a simple combat system or used for anything else ... I also have a blog: https://goblinshenchman.wordpress.com
