S2 EP11: Love & money, financial values, and sexual tension with Sam Pills

S2 EP11: Love & money, financial values, and sexual tension with Sam Pills

In this episode, I sit down with Sam to discuss the power dynamics that come with monetary conversations in relationships. We touch on the intersection between love & money, how heterosexual relationships are shifting in terms of who the 'breadwinner' is in the household, and what we actual value in a relationship. We also talk about whether or not someone's career matters as much as their passions, paying on a first date, and the importance of making time for your independence throughout a relationship to cultivate sexual tension.

Sam coaches on how to change our approaches to dating so that it leads to more self-worth. She's seen how changing our actions can help us overcome struggles around confidence, doubt and the stories that are holding us back from a life full of connection (not to mention love, money, purpose, ease and so much more). S2 EP10: 82 first dates, being present, communication styles with Amy Palatnick

S2 EP10: 82 first dates, being present, communication styles with Amy Palatnick

In this episode, I sit down with Amy to have one of the most beautiful conversations on the podcast. I hear tons of growth in myself in this episode as much of the advice I mention, I have recently taken. We discuss open communication and getting to know one's different communication styles. To being present on dates and reflecting after the first date rather than jumping to the conclusion there will be a second, or more importantly, do you want there to be?

Amy discovered the secret to a fulfilled life when Joseph Campbell taught her to Follow My Bliss. So instead of going to medical school, she became a potter. She moved to the Pacific Northwest where she had a thriving pottery career (She's been on a pottery hiatus, but plan to go back to it soon!). Later, she became a Nia instructor, and more recently followed her heart to become a Processwork therapist and Realization Process meditation teacher. Her main goal in life is to help others find more self-love and follow their big and small dreams.

Her second book, Dating Empowered, is coming soon! You'll get sneak peeks and special content when you join her email list!

S2 EP8: Unmatching, prompts, needs vs. needy with Shooters Gotta Shoot

In this episode, I sit down with Erica Spera and Molly DeMellier, co-hosts of the The Shooters Gotta Shoot podcast to discuss all things dating. We touch on why someone who would unmatch on a dating app, dating app prompts, and are you needy or is asking for your needs just secure?

Professional comedian Erica Spera and businesswoman Molly DeMellier are well-educated, driven, former NCAA athletes who know how to get what they want — except when it comes to men. With humor and candor, they explore the complicated, frustrating and bizarre realities of dating as headstrong, twenty-something women in New York City. Never the wallflowers, Erica and Molly go against the grain and take the initiative to ask men out —even if it means sliding into DMs with a bold intro or sending a drink to a stranger across the bar. But they also bring a candid and honest point of view to the experience — with Erica’s recent herpes diagnosis adding another layer onto navigating sexual encounters, dates, loneliness, family and societal pressures, and more.

S2 EP7: Audio dating, visual emphasis, dating terms then & now with Taly founder of Blink Dating

S2 EP7: Audio dating, visual emphasis, dating terms then & now with Taly founder of Blink Dating

In this episode, I sit down with Taly to discuss the benefits of an audio-only dating app. Blink Date is one of a kind, and the origin story is a must listen. What happens when we take the visual emphasis away from the dating apps? We judge less and we connect more. We also discuss some fun dating terms: what they mean now vs. what they meant then.

Taly Matiteyahu is the cofounder and CEO of Blink Date, a voice-only dating app inspired by a revelatory experience at a blackout restaurant. Making connections with strangers based on conversation alone, free of looks-driven assumptions, sparked the thought: would people date a wider variety of people if they were able to make an emotional connection before swiping left?

Taly previously worked as a lawyer at a NYC law firm, in legal operations at Netflix and Datadog, and as a product manager at Evisort. Taly earned her Bachelor's degree from New York University in 2011 and her Juris Doctorate from Columbia Law School in 2015. S2 EP6: Date/life balance, serial situationshiper, and being a comfort crutch with Tinah Ogalo

In this episode, I'm joined with Tinah Ogala of In Your Twenty's podcast. Tinah and I both live in NYC and commiserate over the realities of dating in the city. We cover a lot about situationships, including some new terms and phrases I learned such as: foster partner and comfort crutch (oh so relatable). We also talk about the importance of date/life balance, which should honestly be as openly discussed as work/life balance.

Tinah Ogalo, aka 'Tina w/ an H', is a social producer + coordinator for reality shows by day, and a podcaster by night. Her show 'In Your Twentys' is meant to help twenty-somethings navigate this defining decade with things they didn't learn in school. Cole has been studying astrology since he was 15 years old. Back then, he was only focused on sun sign astrology but oh how far he has come! He currently lives by the mantra “there are no negatives in astrology. No bad placements. No bad aspects. No bad transits. Only opportunities to grow & learn more about ourselves.” He prides himself on his ability to bring humor and levity to astrology when creating content and working with his clients. S2 EP2: Late bloomers, dating burnout, and putting your eggs in one basket with Leslie Grant, Interstates & Heartbreak

In today's episode, Leslie and I share a lot of commonalties in our early dating years. We both didn't have our first kiss until 16 years old (gasp)! Through our shared understanding of dating later in life, we discuss how we navigated being single when our friends were in relationships, our experiences on the dating apps, whether or not you should put all your eggs in one basket, as well as dating burnout.

Leslie Grant is a New York-born, San Diego-raised, Los Angeles resident who's now lived and dated in LA for over 13 years. Her podcast, Interstates & Heartbreak, provides the honest, unglamorous perspective of what it's like to date in the city of Los Angeles when you don't have a blue check mark next to your name, or enough social clout to get onto Raya. @interstatesandheartbreak

S1 EP48: Teachable healing, addiction, and confidence with Kevin Nahai

We talk about how to focus on your confidence, why communication in relationships is so important, what the hardest step to changing really is.

Kevin Nahai is a public speaker and personal coach. Diagnosed with an excruciating, incurable stomach disease at 19, he quickly fell into a dark spiral of depression, anxiety, and severe anorexia. S1 EP46: Saying no, romanticizing, and life lessons with Stevie Bowen of City of Dating

S1 EP46: Saying no, romanticizing, and life lessons with Stevie Bowen of City of Dating

In this episode, Stevie and I discuss how impactful short dating experiences can be on our lives. We discuss the power of saying no both to a person and to a date in the moment. We also talk about romanticizing the person we are on a date with and how to take a pause before getting ahead of yourself idealizing a 'could be' relationship.

Stevie Bowen is a Fashion Director, and Founder & Author of The City of Dating. A Memoir turned dating community platform dedicated to helping others date to find themselves, not their soulmates. After another failed situationship, Stevie took to writing to work through her dating journey. She wrote thank-you letters to past dates, relationships, and one-night-stands, finding lessons and self-love at the core of them all. Instead of sending the letters to her exes, she published them instead and built The City of Dating to help fellow daters find lessons on their own dating journey.

Stevie believes every date is an opportunity to grow. She is dedicated to encouraging people to date for themselves and to embrace the power of being alone in between all those dates. You can find her book The City of Dating, A Memoir on www.thecityofdating.com and everywhere ebooks are available. You can connect with the community @thecityofdating on Instagram!

S1 EP30: Cheating, communication, and dating apps with Kim Kaplan founder of Snack

S1 EP30: Cheating, communication, and dating apps with Kim Kaplan founder of Snack

Kim Kaplan is a veteran of the dating industry, helping lead Plenty of Fish to a $575M sale to Match Group in 2015 after overseeing product and marketing for over a decade. Following the exit, she shifted to consulting for Canadian startups -- that is, until a friend introduced her to TikTok. Pretty quickly, she ran across a video of a girl saying, “What’s your name? What’s your age? Where are you from? What’s your sign?” It struck her then that she was trying to flirt and date. A quick search showed the hashtag #single had 18 billion views.

For years, people have been connecting on apps like Tinder and Bumble only to shift the conversation to Instagram or TikTok to flirt, have fun, and actually see inside a dating prospect’s real life. Kim thought this all needed to exist in one place. Enter Snack, the new dating app where "TikTok meets dating." It combines the matching algorithms of a dating platform like Tinder or Bumble with the ability to flirt-stream your life in real time like with Instagram or TikTok.

In this episode, we discuss whether or not we believe cheating is a dealbreaker, how to have effective communication with your partner and to be clear about your boundaries early in a relationship. Kim also deep dives into her app and gives us some inside scoop into how to make your profile stand out and why she believes video is the form of the future when it comes to dating.

Her platform is a friendly, informative resource for those looking to learn more about sexual health (with a focus on herpes), as well as boundaries and pleasure, and remains a pillar of support to the newly diagnosed through public HSV content & community. Hailing from the Great White North, Sarah works as a screen actor, live performer and producer when she's not hiding from the Canadian snowfalls or skidding through intersections on black ice. She has a macabre sense of humor and can definitely eat more peanut butter than anyone she's ever met. You can find her on Instagram here @positivelypositivepodcast.

We dive into the concept behind hot girl summer and what our predictions are, as well as thoughts around casual sex and how to bring sex toys into the bedroom :)
