“We are all connected, nothing affects a few that does not ultimately affect us all.”  Today on the podcast we're chatting with Elizabeth Dozier of Chicago Beyond, a philanthropic Venture Fund.  Liz is an impactful, thought leader transforming Chicago and beyond thru justice work. Ebony magazine named her one of its “Power 100” and CNN followed her work as a part of its docu-series, Chicagoland. In 2017, Dozier served as the host of the first-ever Obama Foundation Summit, as well as the Kennedy Forum on Mental Health and Chicago Ideas Week. In 2016, Liz launched Chicago Beyond, a philanthropic venture capital fund.  This fund has invested more than $20M in nonprofit organizations and serves as a strategic partner to help scale their impact. Khadidja Toure: Creator of The West African Inspired Skincare Line Kubra Kay
Khadidja Toure  watched her mom make her first million at 24 and was later inspired to launch her company, Kubra Kay Skincare. Her skincare line is influenced by  West African skincare secrets that she learned from her mom and grandmother. First Latina-Owned Hair & Skincare Line for Naturals with Aisha Ceballos-Crump
"I bet on myself and won" After being frustrated with purchasing multiple hair products for her multiracial family, Aisha Ceballos-Crump decided to use her grandmother’s secret hair ingredient “miel,” or honey in English to create the first Latina owned hair and skincare line for natural hair. Hair brands are generally segmented by race, gender and age, but Honey Baby Natural crosses all of those lines.  During her first year of business, she was able to secure placement in Target and can now be found in CVS, Rite Aid, Walmart and her biggest retailer, Sally’s Beauty. Aisha’s love for community and belief in helping the next woman win led her to launch two additional companies, Botanika Beauty and Beauty Loft. Jasmine Lopez: Finding Identity & Purpose Thru Building a Non Profit
Today on the podcast I'm chatting with Co Creator of Authentic Adventure & Co Founder of The Firehouse Dream, Jasmine Jazzy Lopez. Jasmine is a storyteller, dreamer and executer. Her story is one of restoration and purpose fulfilled. Though she may walk into rooms as the first one or the only one, she has committed her career to making the political realm more diverse and inclusive by bridging gaps between minorities, women and politics. After completing her Masters in Public Policy, Lauren began her political career with the Fellow for the Millennial Mayors Congress Program. In 2014 during her role as a Finance Director for a Democratic Nominee for the Michigan House of Representatives Lauren helped to raise $800,000 during the campaign election. She was the first African American female selected as the Female Young Democrat of the year through the Oakland County Democratic Party. The first and only African American in her role as the Corporate Relations and Events Manager for the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. Lastly, the youngest woman elected as Precinct Delegate of Precinct 19 in the City of Southfield. Lauren is the Co-Founder for a women-owned non-profit organization by the name of Y.A.B., which stands for Young, Ambitious and Beautiful. It is a young entrepreneurial conglomerate for businesses owned by women of color. Through both Y.A.B. and Lauren's political career, Lauren has received over 100 publication features including Crain's Detroit Business, NBC News, Comcast Newsmakers, XO Necole, and Blavity. Today on the show I'm chatting with ultimate hustler, Motown bred and raised, Jasmine Dantzler-Williams. Jasmine fell in love with all things glamorously vintage at the young age of 8 when she first laid eyes on pictures of The Supremes in their gorgeous glitzy ensembles; her adoration for classic fashions was further cemented after viewing actress Dorothy Dandridge sashay across the tv screen in Carmen Jones. She went on to obtain a degree in fashion marketing from the Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago and gained over 10 years experience working with vintage apparel and footwear while living in Chicago and NYC.
