Go For Set Dec

In this episode Konrad tells us about some of his experiences working on the Black Panther sequel: Wakanda Forever. He tells us about the difficulty of filming with out the main star, Chadwick Boseman, and what were some of the films challenges.

Konrad brings his years of experience to the table on this episode and talks to us about being an on set dresser. He reveals some problem solving that he's done in the moment and lets us know a little more about the position.

In this episode we talk to Taylor over at Kudzu Antiques in Decatur, Ga. They are a vendor that sells furniture, smalls, art, and antiques of every era! We adore them for being so accommodating to the film industry so pay them a visit and listen to all of the fun things they have coming up.

We visit a list of 10 deaths of crew members and actors that have passed away due to an onset accident. 

In part 2 of Cindy Carr's interview, she shares with us some essentials that she likes to have in her office, some lessons that she learned the hard way, and some advice that she would give for parents working in the industry. Finding out her favorite color is a little cherry on top of our time with her.

In this interview with Cindy Carr, we talk about some of the differences between TV shows and features. She gives a little insight of what it was like working on the tv show Dynasty for 5 seasons and sprinkles in some of her highly valued advice.

Dustin Berry takes on a journey through the life of a Set Decoration Buyer. He tells us some wild tales of his experiences on the job and we talk about some of our do's and don'ts of the job. Enjoy!

In this episode, we get to know our friend Sally a little better and her journey into Art directing. She tells us a few stories about how she got started and what it was like coming from a different country. She mentions some good to know programs to use if you're looking into making the journey into the Art Department and we also get to find out what her favorite color is.

Sally introduces us into the intricate roles of the Art Department. Who does what? What is the Art Directors responsibility? Why can't we all have lovely English accents like hers? Lastly, what makes a team great and how to learn your hardest lessons.

We laugh, we cry, we work, and we learn! In this minisode, Ariel Kaplan shares some of her on set stories and how she moved around between Set Dec and Props. She tells a fun story about working on Lovecraft Country and her cat Max joins the party. 

This is our last episode for 2021 and we have some heavy topics that we're covering. We will talk about the loss of Halyna Hutchins and some of the basics with gun safety on set. Lets keep each other safe and accountable friends!

Jessica Baker is back to make sure we can fully humble brag to other departments about our Set Dec Coordinators and how much they do for our department. They raise us up so we can stand on mountains, walk on stormy seas, and make us more than we can be. If you know, you know. Set decoration coordinators are vital roles in the Set Decoration department. We give them a list of 100 things to do in a day and somehow they find a way to complete that list. Its like fairy dust projectile vomits onto their computers on the daily. Were talking to Jessica Baker in this two part episode about what goes into her daily schedule and her thoughts on how you can be great at coordinating.

There has been a lot of confusion going on with the most recent contract negotiations with Iatse and AMPTP. To strike or not to strike? To ratify or not to ratify? In this episode, we look at all angles of our current situation in hopes to shed some light on the "What ifs" that we're looking at for our future. I hope this helps work through some questions anyone might have while we wait for more finalized information. Yay Season 2!
