We're back! Last year was a bit more challenging as children were born, illness took over, and we just lost the rhythm of the workflow to create these episodes, but we're back with a new year and a new book: The New Testament!

In this episode Daniel and Fili talk about the importance of finding time to have and develop a personal relationship with our Heavenly Father through studying the words of the scriptures and seeking guidance through that study. They talk about having questions and doubts along the covenant path and how those experiences can lead us to the greatest growth and revelations of all.

In this episode, Daniel and Fili discuss the Book of Psalms and the various reasons people connect with these works of song and poetry. They also discuss the book of Job and the lessons to be learned therein.

In this double episode we talk about the stories of the widow and her son feeding the prophet Elisha as well as the Syrian Captain, Naaman, being healed by Elisha and the parallels between these two stories. We also talk about the continual rise and fall of the Israelites and how we can avoid similar behavior by following the guidance of the Prophet.

In this double episode, Daniel and Fili discuss some of the most relatable stories of the Old Testament. Ruth remains with Naomi and converts to her faith, Hannah prays for a son to devote to the Lord, Samuel is called to fill the role of Prophet, Saul is made king and then lets his pride get the better or him, and David, the young shepherd, slays Goliath and becomes King of Israel. The many lessons from these stories are discussed and related to our lives.

We're back! After a brief hiatus due to holidays and illness and getting out of the habit of recording, this week Daniel and Fili discuss the similarities between the Children of Israel and the Lamanites & Nephites of the Book of Mormon and their tendencies to follow an ongoing cycle of humility and repentance, progress and success, then pride, and an inevitable fall. They also discuss the story of Gideon and how his experience can be applied to out lives today. Finally, they discuss Samson and the many interesting situations he finds himself in and what we can take away and learn from those stories.

In this episode Daniel and Fili discuss the emergence of Moses as a leader, the efforts (plagues) that it took to get the Hebrew people out of Egypt, and their initial trials in the wilderness. They discuss how these different topics apply to our lives and the lessons found therein.

This week Daniel and Fili discuss the creation of the Earth, the purpose of the description of the the creation process and why it is important to know why God made the Earth and all of us on it.

This year begins with...the beginning...like the literal creation! In this episode Daniel and Fili discuss the many lessons about the Plan of Happiness that can be learned from the visions of the Prophets Moses and Abraham as outlined in the Pearl of Great Price and how God established the foundation of His plan since before the creation of the Earth and has carried it on throughout all time until our day.

In this episode we've decided to combine two lessons into one. The main reason is that we feel these go so well together. The Articles of Faith serve as a brief snapshot into our core and foundational beliefs, the Official Declarations build upon those beliefs by outlining changes that occurred at different points in Church history, and The Family: A Proclamation to the World also reinforces many of the Articles and the reasons behind the Declarations.

In this episode Daniel and Fili discuss the martyrdom of Joseph and Hyrum Smith and the effects that it had on the early saints. They also discuss the preparations to move westward and what it teaches us about handling crises in our lives.

This week Daniel and Fili talk about what it means to prepare for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. The also talk about the importance of understanding the relationship between religious freedom and the institutions of government to uphold them.

This week Daniel and Fili discuss the fact that the Lord will never  seek to deceive us, the importance of gaining knowledge and experience  while in this life, and the importance of an eternal marriage under the  new and everlasting covenant. They also briefly discuss the history of  polygamy in the church, what purposes it served, and the important  doctrinal truths found in Section 132 that still fully apply today in a  post-polygamy church.

In this episode, Daniel and Fili discuss what it means to trust in the Lord that blessings and challenges are all for our good, the importance of following the Lord and his representatives on Earth with humility, and the fact that the Lord has a better view of our big picture, much like He had for the early Saints as the church grew and developed.

This week Daniel and Fili discuss the Kirtland Temple dedication and its importance to the early Saints. They also discuss President Russell M. Nelson's discourse "The Temple and Your Spiritual Foundation" as given in the Sunday Morning Session of General Conference on October 3, 2021, and how it ties to the lessons learned from D&C 109 & 110.

In this episode Daniel and Fili discuss the situations with Warren Cowdery as he seeks a leader for his congregation and is called to BE that leader, and Lyman Sherman as he seeks to understand what the Lord expects of him and how his promised blessings will come from his service. They also discuss the Priesthood principles and organization as outlined in Section 107.

This week Daniel and Fili discuss the lessons learned from the experience of Zion's Camp, what it meant for the participants at the time, and what it means for us today. 

This week Daniel and Fili talk about the guidance the Lord gave to the saints as they were suffering intense persecution and in what ways that guidance is still applicable to us today.

In this episode Daniel and Fili discuss the commandment (and chastisement) the Lord gives the early Saints to build the Kirtland Temple, the promised blessings, and what influence the temple has had through time until today.

This week Daniel and Fili discuss some of the pivotal doctrines revealed and cemented in Section 93: The concept of our existence and participation in a pre-mortal life, the concept of the Godhead and roles of each member as separate beings, and our duty to teach these things to our children and live our lives in accordance with the gospel.

This week Daniel and Fili discuss the Q&A regarding verses from the Book of Revelation found in Section 77, the gospel principle of self-reliance and the need to be industrious as illustrated by the actions of the early modern Saints, and the understanding that the call to serve is not only extended to missionaries, but to everyone, and the geographical location of a call does not matter because the Lord needs us to serve everywhere.

This week Daniel and Fili talk about the afterlife as it is revealed in this revelation in Section 76 and how it pertains to the Plan of Salvation as a whole.

In this lesson, Daniel and Fili discuss what the Lord means when he tells the early saints to "confound" their enemies and what how we should approach those that belittle, refute, or attack our faith today. They also discuss how the Lord does not want one's finances to be a barrier to access the blessings of the gospel and like William E. McLellin, even if we have moments of weakness, the Lord can still use our help to spread the gospel. They talk about infant baptism, the age of accountability, and what it means to us to have and know the consequences of our decisions.

This week Daniel and Fili discuss the fears that hold us back and the faith the Lord requires of us. They discuss the topic of bishopric and the literal descendants of Aaron, the responsibility of parents to teach their children the doctrine of repentance and to be good examples to them of a Zion people. Finally, they talk about the importance of both spiritual and temporal needs in this mortal life and how the church and the priesthood are set up to account for both.

This week Daniel and Fili discuss the actions involved in forgiveness, trust, and restitution. They discuss the Lord's charge to "be not weary in well-doing" and the effort that it takes to stay in the mindset to choose the right. They also discuss what is meant by the Lord wanting our hearts and willing minds.

In this episode Daniel and Fili discuss that a strong foundational testimony cannot be built solely on sensational signs, they discuss the Law of Chastity and how it pertains to virtue, and that the Lord wants sacred things to be taken seriously and with respect.

This week Daniel and Fili discuss that the Lord will give commandments, sometimes with clear details and other times with much less dictation, in order to carry out His work on the earth. They also discuss what it means for us to reach out and teach those "on either side" of the river as mentioned in these Sections. Finally, they discuss the importance of sharing our testimonies and having the knowledge that the Lord acknowledges our efforts and supports us.

This week Daniel and Fili discuss why the Lord wanted the early saints "anxiously engaged in a good cause," what that meant for them, and what it all means for us today. They also discuss the commandments surrounding the Sabbath Day and the Law of the Fast as mentioned in Section 59.

This week  Daniel and Fili discuss the pattern of God as outlined in these sections, as well as the use of "recommends" for teaching the gospel and how they may apply to us today. They also discuss the faithful example of the early saints in following the Lord and His Prophet in the efforts to become a Zion people.

This week Daniel and Fili discuss the lessons and principles that can be learned from the interactions with those of the Shaker faith in 1831, including the example of Leman Copley and the rebuke by Parley P. Pratt. They also discuss the challenges of identifying true revelation and the counterfeits of the adversary as described in Section 50. They discuss the unnecessary and misaligned actions of the saints in the early church and how we must be vigilant to not fall victim to many of the same tendencies today. 

In this episode, Daniel and Fili discuss how the Lord encourages us to invite and accept everyone into our meetings and while we do so, we should seek to use the Gifts of the Spirit to carry out His work. In these Sections we are also told that if we reach out and ask for help, the Lord will not only reinforce the legitimacy of our callings and responsibilities in the church, but will also help us carry them out as we put forth our best effort.
