To Address Addiction, Rehabilitate the System
Our guest Morgan Godvin spent 5 years addicted to heroin and as a result has an informed perspective of the intertwined systems; treatment, justice, health care, and re-entry that are in need of rapid reform. These broken systems often encourage people to remain addicted by pricing them out of treatment, or denying essential medicine and access to mental health treatment while imprisoned.  Morgan is now writing a book and studying for the LSAT to pursue a career in advocacy and drug policy reform. Last Call For The Restaurant Industry?
Guest: Chef & Restaurant Owner David Machado The restaurant industry, and it's estimated 11 million employees, have suffered devastating consequences from the Covid-19 pandemic and it’s response; from the abrupt closures to inconsistent federal public health guidelines. This industry is a unique victim of the pandemic in that it’s inherent vulnerabilities before COVID makes it increasingly difficult to recover from this pandemic, potentially forever changing the American main-street landscape and our economy. With little to no financial assistance to date, the largest impact has been felt by your local, independent restaurant owners and the estimated 11 million people the industry  employs. Suzan Shown Harjo is a 2014 Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient.  Suzan and 6 co-plaintiffs filed a lawsuit in 1992 against Pro Football, Inc. as an important step to cancel 6 trademark registrations the Washington football team used to profit from the use of their racist name and logo.
