Did you know that here at Grace we have several staff members who are also authors? In this special podcast series we will feature five authors as we talk about their books, their processes, and what inspired them to write! In episode 1 we feature Darin and his book, "Adventures in Asia."

Coming up this week at Grace international School, we have a big event! Our fine arts dept has been hard at work for months now getting ready for a special stage production of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. In this week’s episode we are joined by Mike Wood, the director of this year’s play, to tell more about this production, and how to get tickets before they are sold out!

Today’s guest shares host Darin Dunn's love of media and has been working in that field for several years now. 

When we came across her LinkedIn and saw what she has been up to, we jumped at the chance to have her on the podcast to ask how she got where she is now, and what God has been doing in her life.

One of the ways we create an inspiring learning environment here for our students is by creating after-school clubs. These clubs allow our students to pursue interests outside of the traditional classroom subjects. Today we talk with Audrey Pound, who serves as one of our Elementary Administrative Assistants, about our current clubs and various club ideas for the future!

For many years now, Grace has honored the diversity at our school by setting aside one day a year called International Day, and this is a day where we can celebrate all the cultures represented within our school. Grace exists to support the work of ministries that are happening throughout Thailand and Southeast Asia. And one of the ministries we are going to talk about today. This ministry is called The Bible Project. We actually have someone on our staff who's involved with the Bible Project. Join Darin Dunn and Vandenn Krouch as they discuss this project with Tom Foitong.

The Bible Project is a non-profit, crowd-funded organization that produces 100% free Bible videos, podcasts, articles, classes, and educational Bible resources to help make the biblical story accessible to everyone, everywhere. From page one to the final word, the Bible is a unified story that leads to Jesus. This diverse collection of ancient books overflows with wisdom for our modern world. The Bible Project's view is that the biblical story speaks for itself. They believe the message of Jesus will transform individuals and entire communities.

Perhaps the department with the most significant potential to help GIS meet our school's mission, vision, and values would be our Counseling Services Department. This year, we have two new staff serving in this role, building on the foundation of those who have come before, such as Jen Rathmell, and parents who have stepped in to fill these needs. Marie Payne and Kristy Griffith are here today to discuss this revamped department. Join us as we hear what it looks like as they seek to enable our students to thrive in all areas of their lives: spiritual, physical, emotional, relational, intellectual, and at play.

Big changes are coming to GIS next year. For the first time in our 24-year history… we will have a middle school! If you’ve been on campus lately you’ve seen the big new beautiful building nearing completion. It’s been amazing to see how fast thing building has come together. But what you may not know is all the behind-the-scenes work that has gone into not only the building itself but the entire middle school program that has been built from scratch over the past two years. 

Today we are joined by Superintendent Steve Anderson, and then Deputy Superintendent Joe Crain as they tell us all about how this whole thing came about.. and where we are in the process. You won’t want to miss these critical updates. So let’s get right to it!

One of the really fun things about working at a school is seeing kids grow up from the elementary years all the way to adulthood as they reach the end of their senior year. 

But one of the hardest things is seeing those now young adults head off into the world. We are excited for them, of course, but it remains bittersweet.

Belonging - To feel happy or comfortable in a situation; to feel secure in a relational or social place. At GIS we want students to look forward to coming to school. We want them to be happy and comfortable here. The staff has been working hard to identify gaps toward this goal so that we can grow in this area. Here to talk with us more about this initiative is George Thomas. George serves here at Grace as the Deputy Superintendent's Executive Assistant and is our Belonging Coordinator this year.
