We revisit the Old West with the adjective-numeral themed western double feature of The Magnificent Seven (1960) and The Hateful Eight (2015). GCU #28: The Inglorious Double Feature
Yep, season #Taran3no has brought us to Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds and the 1978 Italian produced inspiration for the film, The Inglorious Bastards.  Nothing says wacky hijinks and thrilling adventure like good ol' WWII! That's right! Follow two groups of lovable misfits on a romp through Nazi occupied France. These boys are behind enemy lines and in over their heads. Wacky! GCU #27: The Street Fighter & Kill Bill Vol. 2
The quest for revenge continues and if you've got to fight... fight dirty! The GCU boys are joined by Grawlix Podcast's own Jesse Kiefer for a kung fu and karate double feature. First, they marvel at Sonny Chiba's X-Ray karate chops and confusing morality in 1974's The Street Fighter. Then the conclusion of Quentin Tarantino's tale of the blood-soaked bride with Kill Bill Vol. 2. Enjoy! Full show notes and more:  https://grawlixpodcast.com/2019/06/gcu27/

GCU #26: Lady Snowblood & Kill Bill Vol. 1
Two ladies, two movies, a whole lot of killing. This double feature review focuses on a pair of bad@$$ women who are out for blood. First on our hitlist is Lady Snowblood, the 1973 revenge classic directed by Toshiya Fujita based on the manga series of the same name. This movie served as a clear inspiration for our second review, Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Vol. 1 starring Uma Thurman. Enjoy! GCU #25: Vanishing Point & Death Proof
Tighten your seatbelt because on this episode of the Grawlix Cinematic Universe we discuss a drive-in double feature that’ll have you white knuckling the steering wheel. It’s all muscle cars and menace as Season Taran3no hits Quentin Tarantino’s 2007 Grindhouse entry, Death Proof. It’s not a race till you’ve got some competition, though. So we paired QT’s exploitation homage with a clear inspiration on the film, the 1971 heady high-speed classic, Vanishing Point. This is all a little too much speed for us to handle so we brought a guest along. Mike Wood of the Grindbin Podcast hitches a ride this episode! Good thing, too, as we were so busy keeping our eyes on the road that we nearly missed several major themes (and scenes) of these films. It’s going to be a wild ride! Show Notes – Intro/Greetings – Vanishing Point (1971) – Death Proof (2007) – Vanishing Point / Death Proof Cinematic Universe

GCU Bonus: Doom Patrol, Titans, DC Universe
GCU goes full Grawlix Prime! What began as a Pre-Show quickly bloated into a full on episode so the GCU boys decided why not just make it a bonus episode! No cinematic universe here, though. Instead, Randy and Jasper discuss the DC Universe. Specifically, the DC Universe app including their thoughts on the Doom Patrol and Titans series as well as the app’s comic book selection. They didn’t (couldn’t?) stop there. They also discuss the state of streaming services, who comic books are made for, video game censorship, Free Comic Book Day and more. Yeah, it’s all over the place. Enjoy!

GCU #24: Foxy Brown & Jackie Brown
Don’t mess aroun’ with Foxy Brown. She’s the meanest chick in town! Meanwhile, half a million dollars is up for grabs and no one knows how it’s going down. Except for maybe Jackie Brown! This episode we’ve got a double dose of Pam Grier! First, the 1974 blaxploitation classic, Foxy Brown. Then we jump forward a couple decades (because this IS Season Taran3no, after all) to Quentin Tarantino’s 1997 hangout heist movie, Jackie Brown. As straightforward as the cinematic universe pitches should be for this double feature, somehow we take it off the rails. Enjoy!

GCU #23: From Dusk Till Dawn & Four Rooms
Six stories. Four directors. Two movies. Witches, vampires, bellhops. This Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez double feature has it all. And no, it’s not THAT double feature. This episode we discuss the Tarantino penned, Rodriguez directed From Dusk Till Dawn. Then we hop over to the comedy anthology experiment Four Rooms, written and directed by Allison Anders, Alexandre Rockwell, Robert Rodriguez, and Quentin Tarantino. We couldn’t talk about Four Rooms without inviting Melanie over from the Grawlix Podcast to join us. For real, we’d fair better in a certain Mexico truckstop than if we had discussed that movie without Melanie! And once again, the guest blows our mashup pitches out of the water! GCU #22: True Romance & Pulp Fiction
Season Taran3no continues which means more fun movies about despicable characters doing bad things! This time it’s a true Quentin Tarantino double feature. Up first is the Tarantino penned, Tony Scott directed True Romance, starring Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette. Then bust out the surf guitar records and Jheri juice because the 2nd movie this episode is Tarantino’s 2nd movie, Pulp Fiction. There is no way our two nerds were going to be able to handle this job on their own so they called in their own Winston Wolfe. That’s right! Jesse Kiefer comes over from The Grawlix Podcast to discuss these early QT films. This is mushroom cloud laying movie podcast, movie fans! GCU #21: The Killing & Reservoir Dogs
In all its fury and violence… the Grawlix Cinematic Universe returns for season 3! It’s a double feature of master filmmakers’ early works. We kick off season Taran3no with Quentin Tarantino’s feature length directorial debut, Reservoir Dogs. Before we see the aftermath of the heist, though, we’ve got to see what inspired this caper gone wrong. So we also discuss Stanley Kubrick’s The Killing. This is Kubrick’s third film, a film noir style heist movie that served as inspiration for Tarantino’s Dogs. Then, of course, we’ve got to bring these two crime films together for an epic The Killing/Reservoir Dogs Cinematic Universe. Somehow. Grab your cherry Flying V guitar and crank the dial up to 11 because this year we’re having a heavy metal Halloween! It’s all treats with this head banging horror double feature. We review Trick or Treat (1986) in which a bullied metalhead resurrects his dead rock hero by playing the rocker’s last record backwards. Then it’s on to The Devil’s Candy (2015) in which a hard rockin’ dad is possessed by evil forces to paint some truly metal artwork… but he’s not the only one being influenced by the dark lord. You just had to do it, didn’t you? You couldn’t leave well enough alone. You just had to go and tamper with nature! Don’t you know this is what happens when man tries to play God? Don’t you know… this is how we get Ants! And wasp women, apparently. Ant-Man and the Wasp hit theaters this weekend and we wanted to celebrate the release of the latest MCU movie. It’s only fitting because without the MCU the GCU wouldn’t be what it is! However, we decided to go… a different way. No, we will not be discussing Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp. Instead, we will be discussing Ants!, a 1977 made-for-TV movie, and The Wasp Woman, the 1959 Roger Corman low-budget monster flick. That’s not all!
