Lost Hope

Episode 9: Lost Hope
The focus of our second quarter of this podcast is to breakdown the recovery journey and how it applies not only to living with mental illness or disability but how it can apply to various situations that occur during one’s lifetime. During one of the first episodes of this podcast, “Recovery Defined,” I gave a quick overview of the 5 Stages of Recovery as they had been taught to me during my training to become Certified Peer Specialist in December 2014. In our last episode we started by exploring the “Impact of Illness” stage, and how often it can feel like you have lost your identity when faced with the diagnosis of a mental illness, a debilitating injury, or any other major life event that can change how you view your life.
In this episode, Pastor Larry and I will explore the second stage, “Life is Limited” looking at it from a different perspective while also understanding the difficulties that can come when it feels like you’ve lost hope. This episode may difficult for some as there is discussion of living with suicidal thoughts and self-harm. If you, or anyone you know is struggling with these thoughts please reach out for help at Lifeline or call 1-800-273-8255
