Fatal police shooting ends manhunt in Regional Victoria

Stanley Turvey, a declared armed fugitive and a member of the Finks bikie club, has died after being shot by the police during a standoff in northern Victoria. This marks the end of the largest manhunt in the state over the past eight years, spanning across regional Victoria. Turvey had been on the run for the last three days, during which he committed a series of crimes, including discharging a firearm in close proximity to police, engaging in confrontations by driving at police officers, forcibly abducting a man at gunpoint, carjacking a vehicle, and assaulting a woman while moving between Victoria and New South Wales. Specialist Operations Group police were in pursuit of the 33-year-old at a residence in Ardmona, shortly after 10:15 a.m. upon receiving information about his presence there. According to the police statement, "Officers encountered Turvey, who was armed, and subsequently fired at him." New law in ACT to decriminalise the use of nearly every drug

New law in ACT to decriminalise the use of nearly every drug

The ACT is set to become the first Australian jurisdiction to decriminalise small amounts of commonly used illicit drugs, such as ice, heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, LSD, amphetamines and speed. Laws passed in the territory’s parliament, mean that the people found with small amounts of nine different types of illicit drugs will not be criminally prosecuted. People found with amounts considered to be "personal possession" — smaller than trafficable quantities — would now only be subject to either fines, warnings or referred to a drug diversion program rather than lengthy criminal charges. The new legislation covers most common illicit substances, including LSD , MDMA and psilocybin or magic mushrooms. In 2019, the ACT became the first state in Australia to legalise the personal use of cannabis according to which the residents in the territory are able to legally possess up to 50 grams of marijuana and cultivate up to two plants per person, or four per household. It remains the only one to do so across Australia.

Australia's most colorful bikie faces a gold ban!

Australia's most colorful bikie faces a gold ban!

Australia's most recognizable bikie has been banned from the Perth Mint and three major Australian banks after buying $27,000 worth of gold bars. A notorious former bikie was reportedly allowed to purchase 27 grand worth of gold from Perth Mint without extensive screening. Perth Mint remains under investigation by financial crime regulator AUSTRAC, which last year ordered the appointment of an external auditor to the West Australian government-owned mint after identifying compliance concerns. The auditors are examining whether Perth Mint, has complied with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing obligations. It is also investigating the mint’s compliance with requirements relating to the reporting of suspicious matters. Any confirmed breach of money laundering laws could leave the mint facing heavy criminal fines which would ultimately be paid by taxpayers. Perth Mint is Australia’s biggest gold refinery with a turnover of almost $22 billion last financial year. It sold almost 20 million coins, medallions and bars to customers in more than 130 countries. Mint launched anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing remediation programs and processes to improve its engagement with customers. Dayne Brajkovich, a former Hells Angels bikie who has served time in prison for drug offences, purchased $27,000 in gold from the mint in June last year. The mint is required to conduct extensive checks on higher-risk customers but Brajkovich told the program he was only asked for his driver’s license.

Mongols National President jailed for 22 years in the High Court

Mongols National President, Jim David Thacker, also known as J.D. or Jack Daniels was a force to be reckoned with, as he pulled no punches in his quest for criminal success. From devising a far-reaching drug-running operation to raining bullets down on the home of a rival gang, he made sure his mark was made. The man who was in-charge of the Mongols MC in New Zealand, led them to become very powerful and famous quickly, like a shooting star. This caused a huge and intense gang war in the country, which might have been the most serious one ever. However, in a twist of fate, the very individual who once orchestrated the group's ascent to criminal glory is now grappling with a colossal and harrowing downfall of monumental proportions, just as dramatic as when they became powerful. Mongols are now losing their power and influence in a noticeable and sudden way. It's as though they soared upwards with astonishing speed, only to now plummet downward at an equal velocity, engulfed in a whirlwind of downfall.. JD was arrested and so were his associates and the club was brought down to its knees by the authorities.

The feud has not escalated so far, but police have mobilised a large number of officers to maintain the peace in Auckland for Pongi’s funeral.

Expanding into Thailand potentially provides new opportunities for illegal activities, connection to drug production and availability of proved drug trafficking channels. this helps them to enhance their access to drugs for distribution and sale. Prominent clubs like the Comancheros, Bandidos, Hells Angels, Finks, Rebels, Rock Machine, and Lone Wolf have made significant strides in establishing chapters across cities in the region in recent years. Thailand, known for being a popular holiday destination for bikies, has now become a crucial hub for the transportation of tons of drugs into Australia.

Sydney's bikie scene is seeing another change as the mighty Hells Angels expand their presence in the city. The club has been making waves in recent weeks, with reports indicating that it is rapidly gaining members and establishing itself as a force to be reckoned with. According to the reports 81s expansion in Sydney is part of a broader strategy to increase its presence in major Australian cities. The club's leadership believes that Sydney offers a unique opportunity for outlaw business, given the extensive reach and scale of the city's criminal underworld network. The expansion started after the Angels established a new chapter named Hells Angels Bayside in Brighton-Le-Sands, once considered a Comanchero stronghold. Hells Angels also made significant strides in expanding their presence in Sydney by successfully converting an entire Sydney chapter of Rebels bikies to their club. Another significant event in the expansion of the Hells Angels in Sydney has recently been confirmed with the news that Jason Fahey, the Bandidos national president, has "patched over" to the 81s.

Last year, a former bikie named Yusuf Nazlioglu was fatally shot in a car park in Rhodes, located in Sydney's inner west. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his head and torso and was rushed to Westmead Hospital from his apartment car park where he passed away soon after. The victim, aged 40, was a former member of the Lone Wolf bikie club who had been acquitted of the murder of Comanchero boss Mick Hawi in 2020.

In 2020 a jury found Nazlioglu not guilty of murdering Comanchero boss Mick Hawi, who was gunned down at Fitness First in Rockdale in 2018.

Masood Zakaria faces Turkish courts in an attempt to avoid deportation

Australia's most wanted criminal and Alameddine heavyweight. Masood Zakaria who was recently captured in Turkey has faced Turkish courts in the capital Ankara. According to reports, Zakaria's legal team is seeking his extradition to Afghanistan instead of Australia. Allegedly, Zakaria is reluctant to be deported to Australia because he is aware that he could face severe legal consequences and potentially spend the rest of his life in prison. It may seem surprising to many why a criminal would prefer to be extradited to a war-torn and unstable country like Afghanistan, but the reason is simple that Zakaria has ties in Afghanistan, such as family and business connections he also has a support system in place in Afghanistan, and feels that he can easily navigate the legal system better in Afghanistan due to his connections and familiarity with the country. Another reason being that once he is in Afghanistan he will make his moves and escape to neighbouring Lebanon, Pakistan or even to Iran. Zakaria could be charged with up to 11 alleged offences - including conspiracy to murder, directing a criminal group, drug supply and dealing with proceeds of crime - when he returns to Australia. Zakaria’s next court appearance is scheduled for the end of March. 28 years old Zakaria, was captured by Turkish Special Forces in raids in the port city of Bodrum in January after allegedly fleeing Sydney in late 2021 when an arrest warrant was issued for his alleged involvement in an attempted gangland murder of rival Ibrahem Hamze of the notorious Hamzy crime family. he allegedly fled Australia hidden inside a fishing trawler which left Western Australia headed to Malaysia.
