A leader with the risk adverse mindset perceives any form of challenges, problems or issues as red alerts and will start to plan out defensive maneuvers to protect and defend the current position. A leader with the risk-taking or opportunity driven mindset will start to look for areas that they could exploit for growth and gain another foothold or market share.  Which leadership mindset do you have?  Learn how you are able to leverage either mindset for the growth of your organisation.

The leadership mindset of empowerment and control determines your team performance.  The key that differentiates the control and the empowerment leadership mindset lies in knowing each person of your team and their skills, competencies, experiences, and your level of trust.  

We know that the direction of your life is determined by your strongest thoughts. We also know that your thoughts are determined by your mindset. Therefore, if you mindset is growth centric, your thoughts will be inclined towards valuing development, growth, improvements and embracing changes and opportunities. The same would be true, if your mindset is fixed, your thoughts will be included towards resisting change, viewing challenges as problems and issues, opposing innovation, or taking risk.  As a a leader, your mindset will determine the direction, culture and performance of your team.  Join us to learn more about the leader's mindset and how you can shape the course of your team and their performance.

The question in most people’s mind is how best to deal with people who have different mindset from us. It is hard when a fixed or limited mindset person comes together with a growth mindset person. Afterall it is like oil and water. What is the best way to get some form of emulsion going? Just like mixing oil and water in itself would not work, however by adding an emulsifier, you are able to cause the mixture to not separate. The best example is creating mayonnaise which is essentially a combination of oil, water and an emulsifier like egg york or mustard and mix like crazy.

How does that look like in the workplace? What is or are the “emulsifiers” in the workplace?  We believe they are:

1. Clear Goals. Common Goals.

2. Agreements. Win-Win outcome.

3. Accountabilities. Developing Trust.

Yes, changing your mindset is a journey.  It does not happen overnight and it certainly does take intentional and consistent actions.  Join us on this journey as we explore how we can start with identifying our current mindset, replacing it with the new one and how to consistently put it into practice.

Mindset is one of the key elements that will determine your abilities to continuously develop your skills, adaptability in the workplace and resilience and commitment when faced with challenging situations. Blind spots, each of us have them.  The only person that is surprise by the blind spots is you.  You can't see them but the people around you sure can.   Blind Spots are not a sign a weakness but an opportunity for you to learn and further improve yourself.  In this episode, you will learn how you can use feedback as an effective tool to uncover and learn to improve and work on your blind spots.

How do we give feedback to our manager? Giving feedback can either turn out to be a great trust builder or career limiting move. I think that there are a few key areas that we need to be mindful of and if we take them into account, the feedback sessions can be rewarding.

1. Know your manager. 

2. Be specific and only from your observation and experiences NOT someone else’s.

3. Time and place.
