By the gro tent

Hi... Welcome to the gro tent. The gro tent is a safe space where we go to meditate, talk, and listen. We are all pretty much going through the same experiences and having the same doubts, fears, and emotions even while living through the pandemic. That alone deserves more conversations to help us recognize that "hey, we really are all more alike than we differ." So let's talk about it. Join us for "hi talks" where no conversation is off the table. Hit us up at thegrotent@gmail.com to be apart of the conversation or send us a voicemail on the Anchor App. Peace.

what is intimacy

what is intimacy

There are so many "definitions" of intimacy and honestly I'm quite dissatisfied with Merriam Webster's definition:  'the state of being intimate' or 'something of a personal or private nature.'  I don't really know why everything has to be so specifically defined when it is so subjective.  Pour moi, to be intimate with yourself or within other relationships encompasses so much more than the physical.  In this chat of "hi talks" with Herb, we discuss how we view intimacy and why it could be different for everyone.  It's really all about understanding and acknowledging your own love language.  Enjoy!

we are not really strangers

we are not really strangers

Has anyone ever played the game "We are Not Really Strangers?"  The game is a great conversation starter amongst new friends and former friends.  This episode features a new guest/friend who I reconnected with recently.    Possibly this episode could be the start of a 'several' part series of us playing this game of connection.  I hope you all enjoy our talks, and join in at thegrotent@gmail.com.

New business venture???

New business venture???

Hi everybody!!  Welcome back to the gro tent!  2022 so far has been a year to remember.  This is an exciting episode for me because I share news of a potential business venture that I am embarking on.  It won't be easy, but I know with some patience and being comfortable with the uncomfortable and seeing the big picture will help me along throughout the process.  Thank y'all so much for listening and continuing to rock with me!  Much appreciated.  Peace.

Quick 2021 Reflection... Welcome back!!

Quick 2021 Reflection... Welcome back!!

Naturally at the end of the year, we have to have a little self reflection to think about how far we have come and what we have learned.  I've been MIA y'all... MY BAD!!  I'm back, feeling better and ready to chat with everyone.  How was everyone's year?  Be honest...  But this is just a quick chat to let y'all know I'm alright and will be back with more though provoking content in the coming months.  Peace.

let your yes be your yes...

let your yes be your yes...

Hey y'all.  Akwaaba!!  New year. New beginnings. Let's start manifesting what we have been wanting lately.  I'm feeling much better and wanted to chat with y'all.  As I continue in this path of remembering who I am and coming into my own, I am constantly reminded of how much power is in the words that we use and how they somewhat create an identity for someone.  Even when using simple words like yes and no.  Thank you for listening!  Enjoy.

Where does our sh*t go?

Where does our sh*t go?

Hey everybody.  I hope you all are doing well and maintaining through this pandemic.  This year is almost over y'all... we have a new year to look forward to which means change is on the horizon.  I have been feeling tense lately because I feel like we are surrounded by garbage.  We owe it to ourselves and to this earth that we are living in to be mindful of our trash accumulation and recognize our ability to recycle.  Let's pay a little close attention to what you deem "trash" because it could be a treasure to someone else.  I thank y'all for listening to this episode and I hope you enjoy.  Peace.

The Color Purple review

The Color Purple review

During this pandemic, we've had nothing but time on our hands. So, we decided to watch "The Color Purple" and talk about many of the issues in the movie like gender roles, racism, sexism, family, faith, and sisterhood, and how they can relate to today's society. I hope y'all enjoy!
