WELCOME! This is the Groupies podcast. The music podcast about music. We had a weird week at the Groupies but that didn’t stop us from getting our first guest ever to come in and speak on a NUMBER of things.

Ryan Rosa, the hip hop connoisseur (and Grant's coworker), dug into her childhood and adolescence growing up with music, and how it shaped her music tastes today.

Chance the Rapper finally dropped his debut "studio" "owbum". The owbum has caused mass confusion among the Groupies on whether the album as a whole was a good piece of work. Spoiler alert: the majority of the Groupies are disappointed by the release. As hinted by the memes, Chance sure does love his wife.

In this A-Side, we dig into how Chance got started rapping, what Acid Rap and Coloring Book meant for his career, and where The Big Day stands among the rest of his work. It's a good one, folks.

It's been a rough few weeks for A$AP Rocky. We dig into how he got himself into prison in Sweden, why the President of the United States is tweeting about it, and why rappers need to stop getting involved in confrontations (hint: let your security team take care of it). 

The XXL freshman list dropped some time ago, and we go over our top picks on the list, walk over the best cyphers and freestyles, and talk about rappers who've rebuffed the magazine in the past. 

We wrap up the pod talking about Grimes' utterly insane diet and exercise regiment, as well as touch on a possible $25 million lawsuit on Lil Nas X's hands.

THIS WEEK on the Groupies Podcast Extraordinaire, we have two exciting things. First, our companion and longtime Groupie, Tom, is back in action. Second, Lil Nas X. That's right, the man, the myth, the legend himself. We got an exclusive interview with the memey rapper...jk wish we did. BUT we talked about the records he's breaking with his masterpiece, Old Town Road, in addition to talking about his debut EP, 7.

The Groupies have kicked off the Summer Sessions. It's officially summer break for us here at the pod, and while it's taken us a bit to get back into talkin' about music, what a better way to get things off, than by talking about Adam Levine and This Love. We dig into their debut album, with some of the most iconic singles of a decade and SO MUCH MORE.

We take a look at Michigan's own La Dispute in this A-Side, featuring a special guest! We dive into the 2011 album of the post-hardcore band, and figure out what hardcore looks like as well in 2019

If you're a music head like us, you've probably heard of Lil Nas X at this point. We give our HAWT takes on the topic, as well as get into country trap rap as a whole (because sure). On top of that we round out our rotation discussion with Rico Nasty and Solange's latest masterpiece!

In this 2-part look at the Groupies rotations we analyze everything we've been listening to lately! Billie Eilish, Flume, Cage The Elephant, Pharrell, even The Temptations make some appearances in this A-Side!

We also wish a proper farewell to Tom, one of the founding members of Groupies. He's refocusing his efforts on Conspiracy Club full time, which means he doesn't have the creative output for Groupies any longer. We wish him the best and love him for all he's done for the podcast!

In this B-Side, we take a deep dive into the ever-so-odd career of The Weeknd. From his initial start with Trilogy, to where he is now after working on Starboy and the Black Panther soundtrack companion. What's next for Abel?

It's body of work that put The Weeknd on the pop stardom map. Chocked full with hits like "Can't Feel My Face", "Earned It", and "Often", Abel Tesfaye's 2015 full-length album, Beauty Behind the Madness put his destiny into his own hands. Emir of Groupies brings in the classic this week, as they dig into the album at hand!

Daft Punk was the focus of the A-Side this week. This led us to talk about artists that have a sort of "mythology" surrounding them. They're so legendary in the eye of pop culture, that they're inhuman in some ways. We have a candid conversation about why artists get to a point like this in their careers, and how they do it. Michael Jackson, Prince, The Beatles, are all just a few of whom get mentioned here!

Groupies is back! We got struck by the flu bug, but Daft Punk sure did not when creating Random Access Memories. Grant's personal classic this week, RAM is the last full-length project from the French house masterminds. We dig into the legacy they left with this last album and how they crafted this evolution in their work.

The boss himself, Bruce Springsteen is our focus on this week's episode! The career-defining album, Born in the USA, is an album dedicated to the blue-collar workers of America. We dig into each song on the album, and dance in the dark (not really) as we get on fire with our Bruce knowledge.

It's a topic oft not talked about. Where is folk music going into 2019? We got the chance to talk about a genre that's slowly re-innovating itself after decades of being pigeonholed as acoustic music. We're digging into it all on this episode of Groupies!

Have you ever booked an Airbnb and got so inspired by your stay, you wrote an album about your stay and travels? None of us at Groupies have done this, but George Ezra did, and it churned out a fantastic album as a result.

Tom's personal classic this week is George Ezra's sophomore follow up, Staying at Tamara's. Considered mainly folk pop, the album was a mainstay for Tom and Grant's rotations and we get into what makes the album click in this A-Side!

We've come to the end of an amazing year in music. We saw the rise of superstars like Cardi B, Camilla Cabello, and Ariana Grande. Streaming is only on the rise as the choice for the modern music listener. And so much more.
