Dave Sanderson was a top sales producer in every company he worked for and on January 15th, 2009 was on a business trip he had made hundreds of times before. Like all of us when we travel, things are often routine, and we take things for granted. Then out of the blue something happens that changes what was once routine to a day that changes your life.

As she was about to graduate from college, she was sentenced to three years in prison for stealing credit cards to buy stuff to please her boyfriend at the time. The relationship was withering and this was Yolanda's last-ditch effort to win him over, and it landed her in prison, where she found time to learn from her experiences. While incarcerated, she went through several key mindset shifts that enabled her to steer clear of toxic relationships in the future and find meaning in her adversity.

For the first time in a long time, I’m seeing an uptick in real measurables in my life and business..but it didn't come without a prolonged period of stagnation.
My website traffic has multiplied by six already in 2018, after a full year of no growth. The SEO scores on all my websites and even my client’s websites have multiplied at an unprecedented level in just the past three weeks. My income has multiplied by four compared to last year. My podcast audience has doubled and almost tripled every month since its inception on April 17.
I’m going to stay the course, but continue to evolve along the way. These podcasts are only going to get better, more valuable, and more actionable. The road to get here today hasn’t been easy, but I didn’t expect it to be. I make a promise to myself every day, that no matter how tough the process gets … I won’t quit. I’m not stopping. I’m not going away anytime soon.
Can't stop won't stop,
Wake up. Read or watch the news. Check your phone. Fill up on emergencies, favors asked, terrorism, arrests, suicides, murders, wars, and the like.
Then go about your day and see how miserable you are.
This is how you make a cake with cement. It won’t taste good. When you fill up with garbage, your life will be garbage.
Wake up (perhaps 20 minutes earlier). Read 15 pages of a good book. Listen to an uplifting podcast. Learn something new. Fill up on knowledge, insight, strategy, purpose, joy, excitement, and zest.
Then go about your day and see how happy you are.
This is how you make a cake with, well, sugar and flour, the way a cake is supposed to be made. When you fill up with sweets, your life will be sweet.

Welcome to episode 25 of Growth Mindset University! Today, we have a very special guest in the house: professional football player Mike Wyche. Mike was one of the top recruits in the nation a few years ago, receiving full scholarship offers from USC, Miami, and other storied football programs.
Life and success never came easy for Mike Wyche though, as he was labeled a problem child growing up while switching schools 13 times, including 3 times for behavioral issues. He also battled homelessness, as his mother was a drug addict and his father was sentenced to 40 years in prison. However, he overcame this adversity, transcending himself from a drug dealer who has been shot at hundreds of times to a hope dealer making the world a better place through love and unity.
Even through all these hardships, he says most things in life are a choice, and that you can take control of your life with the power of decisions.
Mike is also redefining gangster by making education cool again.

In the latest episode of Growth Mindset University, we highlight 4 ways to wire the mind for success.
1. Set a clear goal - I will do ____ (action) by ____ (date).
2. Visualize your success - Create mental pictures of what achieving your goals might look like.
3. Act as if you already have achieved the goal you desire - How would you act? How would you breathe? How would you walk? What might achieving this goal make of your character?
4. Declare victory over your life - Decide what you want, decide who you are, repeat it out loud, and set out to make it true. Your subconscious mind will believe everything you tell it, so feed it words of power and victory.
Chance and Jordan talk about the negative impacts of social media on individuals and society as a whole. They reveal some alarming statistics on the specifics of how the lives of teens have been affected since the release of the iPhone in 2007, including:
-The percentage of teens who EVER go out on dates has fallen about 15%.
-The number of times teenagers hang out with their friends per week had been relatively steady for about 30 years. Since 2007, these numbers are down about 16%.
-The percentage of 12th graders who drive has fallen 5% since 2007.
Before 2007, the percentage of high schoolers who felt lonely or left out has been steadily decreasing for nearly 20 years. Since 2007, these percentages have sharply increased (about 10%).
-The percentage of high schoolers who don't get enough sleep had been falling for about 6 years until 2007. Since 2007, these numbers have increased over 5%.

In the latest episode of the Growth Mindset University podcast, Jordan and Chance talk about what they learned from Simon Sinek's book, Start With Why. They discuss clarity, purpose, values, and how to communicate in a way that inspires and attracts followers.
“Humans hunt for love. We feel that we need that love because we believe we don’t have love, because we don’t love ourselves. We hunt for love in other humans just like us, expecting to get love from them when these humans are in the same condition as we are. They don’t love themselves either, so how much love can we get from them? We merely create a bigger need that isn’t real; we keep hunting and hunting, but in the wrong place, because other humans don’t have the love we need.”
Motivation is external. Motivation is fleeting; it comes and goes. Motivation pushes people to do things. Doing what motivates us doesn't always leave us fulfilled at the end of the day.
Inspiration is internal. It's a feeling deep down inside someone. Inspiration is sustainable. Inspiration acts as a gravitational pull that moves people closer to their goals. Doing what inspires us leaves us fulfilled.
Look at it this way: People are often MOTIVATED by money. Nobody says their INSPIRED by money. That wouldn't make sense. Money doesn't inspire people with a deep down feeling and it doesn't give someone a sense of fulfillment. Money is just a motivator for people.
So, we must stop and think: Is what I'm after motivating me or inspiring me?
