Through her experience of the death of her daughter Aria, Megan has learned tools and ways of shifting grief so that it can become just a little bit lighter, and easier to live with. She helps her clients carry their grief instead of suffer with grief.

We cover the following topics:

Grieving my Dad who is still alive with Emilly Barrow #EP20

Grieving my Dad who is still alive with Emilly Barrow #EP20

Emilly's grief journey started six years ago when her Dad had a stroke and brain aneurism in July 2014. Similar to most people who experience grief, it was the result of losing a loved one but the punch line here is... he is still alive. Emilly is grateful everyday that her father survived his accident, but the parts that made him "him" did not. Her Dad is now mentally and physically disabled; battling everyday with PTSD, dementia, depression and chronic anxiety. Disassociated from reality. For her family, Emilly's father died in July 2014 but he also is alive.

The very definition of grief is "intense sorrow, especially caused by someone's death." Emilly's unique situation has found herself & her family challenging the idea of death entirely and the societal perception of it.

In this conversation we chat about:

- Disenfranchised grief and how it impacts you

- Grieving a person who is still here

- Gaining a new perspective

- Not letting it define you

- Mental disabilities

- Framing pain with humour

and so much more!

Purpose in my pain with Edem Dokli #EP16

Purpose in my pain with Edem Dokli #EP16

“Purpose in my pain”, these words perfectly underscore what the first half of 2020 was for me. In the first 4 months of the year, losing my job and position at church, felt really painful, and this pain lead my directly to my purpose. Edem is the founder of an NFP called We are the Movement. WATM was founded in May this year and it’s purpose is to create opportunities for POC and align them to social services that will enhance their quality of life and give them a sense of belonging.

We have an open conversation about the stories we can sometimes tell ourselves and others, how grief shows up in different ways during various life stages and how therapy and a strong network can provide support during times of grief and loss.

Father & Daughter talk... with Paul Weller a.k.a my Dad #EP 3

Father & Daughter talk... with Paul Weller a.k.a my Dad #EP 3

It's important to remember that our loss is alway different, even if we are grieving over the same person.

Join me and my Dad for an honest conversation about my Mothers death and how the loss of his best friend, wife and mother to his children impacted his life. Together we talk about how grieving can begin even before the death has happened, that as parent you cant protect your child from pain and how after everything, it is possible to find light within darkness.

Paul Weller (my Dad, not the rockstar!) once upon a time played in a rock band... After working for church and inter-faith organisations, specialising in racial justice, peace and inter-faith matters, he is now formally retired - although actually still working "part-time" as an academic for three universities as well as having his own company. He is a parent to two grown up daughter (yes, one of them is me!) and one grown up son. He is also a very proud grandparent to Lily, and husband to Marie.

How grief impacts those around us with Maisie Barlow #EP2

How grief impacts those around us with Maisie Barlow #EP2

It can be easily forgotten that grief and loss can have a ripple effect on communities, friendships and future relationships. In some cases, our own grief and loss may also impact those around us in various ways and this is something my best friend and I realised from a young age. We explore the questions: how do we properly support those we love in times of grief and loss? Do we truly understand the grieving individuals actions and needs? How do we navigate our own grief and loss whilst still supporting our loved one who has perhaps lost someone close to them? What emotions come with all of the above?

Listen to Maisie Barlow as she shares with honesty and love, about how my mothers death impacted her life, our friendship and what it has taught her over the last 10 years.

Starting the Conversation with Katrina Weller #EP1

Starting the Conversation with Katrina Weller #EP1

Making the uncomfortable, comfortable.
Hi everyone! My name is Katrina and at the age of 15, my mum died from Cancer. Over the last ten years, I have experienced and witnessed grief in various areas of my life which showed the apparent lack of education, understanding and conversation surrounding grief.

This episode gives an introduction into my personal journey with grief and what I've learnt along the way.

By giving grief a voice and allowing people to share their stories, we can create and encourage an open conversation around a topic that will impact most people throughout their lifetime. Tune in every week to hear how different people have grown with their grief, what they've learnt and why they believe grief should be talked about more.

Together, we can raise awareness, create community and share hope.
