Guerrilla Pastors

By Josiah Jones

The "Guerrilla Pastors" is a podcast chronicling young ministers shifting from "traditional" church ministry to a subversive pastoral presence. Instead of attraction models hinging on cults of personalities we focus on humbler approaches founded on neighborhood presence. Forsaking church growth metrics we will focus instead on fostering authentic relationships. Join us as we discuss our journey through deconstruction to reconstructing a Guerrilla Pastoral approach that emphasizes a broad kingdom imagination, practices a generous orthodoxy and celebrates a necessarily diverse praxis.

In part two, we discuss the inevitable changes church are currently facing and how they will adapt if they hope to continue existing in the future. Additionally, we spend time imagining how Guerrilla pastors may partner with traditional churches, and how to prepare the next generation of pastors for a church that will look wildly different tomorrow than it does today. Part two of our interview of Amanda rounds up a discussion of the work she is doing. We also share our take on why it is a celebration of a diverse praxis. The subject matter of naming sexual assault and human trafficking in the bible is subversive in its own right, but how Amanda is partnering with churches to teach these subjects makes all the more “guerrilla” in nature.

[003] Being Known for a Benevolent Orthodoxy

On this episode we take a hard look at the things the we are known for. The labels "Christian" and "Evangelical" come fully loaded with definitions we explore. Our hope is that we would be known for having a Benevolent Orthodoxy founded on the person of Jesus instead of all the things evangelicals are said to be known for in studies like this:
