In cinema, portrayals of child sex psychology vary greatly in accuracy, sensitivity, and ethical considerations. It's crucial to approach these portrayals critically, as inaccurate or sensationalized depictions can reinforce harmful stereotypes and misunderstandings. Filmmakers should prioritize responsible storytelling and consult experts in the field when tackling such sensitive topics. However, in Nepali cinema, movies addressing these issues are scarce. In an episode of Gulabi Sambad, Kedar Shrestha, a filmmaker and storyteller, discusses the importance of creating movies centered on children and adolescents, focusing on themes like sex education and child sex psychology.

Portrayals of harassment and sexual violence against women in Nepali cinema have changed over time, showing different perspectives. Some movies treat harassment lightly or blame the victim, while others focus on survivors' journeys toward justice and empowerment. Recently, there's been a move towards empowering narratives and advocacy against gender-based violence, shedding light on how caste, class, and gender intersect in shaping these experiences. Despite progress, harmful stereotypes and patriarchal norms persist in the industry.

Episode 64, S2, Socio-Psychological Analysis of Virginity and Its Influence on Women's Mental Health, Podcast Gulabi Sambad

The analysis of virginity's impact on women's mental health reveals a complex interaction of cultural, societal, and individual factors. Across many cultures, virginity is highly valued for women, leading to pressure to meet rigid standards. This often creates feelings of shame and anxiety if expectations aren't met. Additionally, inadequate sexual education can worsen these issues. Factors like race and class also play a role. Empowering women to make informed choices, challenging stereotypes, and providing support networks are crucial for promoting positive mental health outcomes in navigating societal attitudes towards virginity.
In this episode of Gulabi Sambad, we delved into a socio-psychological examination of virginity and its impact on women's mental health, featuring insights from psychologist Jamuna Sharma. Sharma has described the deeply ingrained societal perceptions surrounding virginity and how these beliefs infringe upon the rights of girls and women, ultimately affecting their mental well-being.

Episode 44, S2, Birth Defect and Importance of Consuming Folic Acid, Podcast Gulabi Sambad

Episode 44, S2, Birth Defect and Importance of Consuming Folic Acid, Podcast Gulabi Sambad

Birth defects are structural or functional abnormalities present at birth that can affect a baby's physical or mental development. These defects can occur in various parts of the body and may result from genetic factors, environmental exposures, or a combination of both. One of the most important and preventable birth defects is neural tube defects (NTDs).

Neural tube defects are a group of birth defects that affect the brain and spinal cord's development. They can lead to serious health issues, such as paralysis, intellectual disabilities, and even death. The most common types of NTDs are anencephaly (a severe underdevelopment of the brain) and spina bifida (a malformation of the spinal cord and spine).

The link between birth defects and the consumption of folic acid is primarily related to the prevention of NTDs. Neural tube defects are a specific category of birth defects that involve abnormalities in the development of the neural tube, which eventually forms the baby's brain and spinal cord. Folic acid plays a crucial role in preventing these defects.

To address all these interconnections between birth defects and consumption of folic acid, this episode of Gulabi Sambad incorporates the conversation with Dr. Benju Koirala, Gynecologist, and Obstetrician. Koirala has highlighted the role of folic acid in neural tube development, prevention of neural tube defects, dietary sources of folic acid, and so on.
