In this episode I am joined by Benkei Bruin and Ben Odgers who own and operate a company called Drift Japan.

Drift Japan is a really cool organization who will take you on a fully guided drift tour of Japan, but they tailor an experience that best suits you and your needs.

We get to go deep into the Drift Japan experience as a whole.

We cover off on everything from how best to contact Drift Japan and show an expression of interest, right through the whole 10 day experience, what is included in the package and how the whole experience has been put together with years and years of combined experience while trying to keep it adaptable for you.

It was really cool to sit and chat with these two gentlemen and hear how much has gone into putting this package together to make the whole experience unique to your needs as well as taking into account so many little things that you just wouldn’t think about until you get caught out by it.

This episode is a little different to our usual format and I absolutely do intend to get both Benkei and Ben Odgers on for their own episodes to tell their individual stories in the future, but I hope you all enjoy this one. In this episode, I am joined by Scott Schembri. Scott is a drifter who hails from the Southern Highlands in NSW and is one half of the Blaze Unit Drift Team. in this episode, we get to learn about Scott's introduction into drifting and how it came into his life. We get to hear about his first car, which at first glance would have been a typical learner or p-plater car back I that era. However, it was an unsuspecting car that led Scott to Oran Park and cemented his future in Drift as well as helping him lose his licence at least once. We got reminisce while we were on the subject about how good Oran Park was and shed a bit of a tear over its ultimate demise... We also learned about Scott's support network throughout his life of drift, the drivers he looks up to, and we got his stamp of approval on a bunch of the newer drivers currently coming up in the scene now. In this episode, I am joined by Ben Jenkins. Ben is a kiwi, Pro drifter from the North Waikato area and is one half of Team Jenkins motorsport, which is shared with his older brother, Troy. In this episode, we get to talk about Ben's childhood on the farm learning to ride horses, motorcycles, drive cars, and everything in between. We got to learn about how Ben started out in Drifting, who inspired him along the way and how supportive his family was and still is throughout his whole career. In this episode, I am joined by the absolute legend Matt Mingay. In this episode, I got to talk to Matt about his lesser known boxing career and his impressive stats. We got to talk about how Matt got into stunt riding, about how he quit his day job to further pursue it as a career option and not only how "supportive" his friends and family were, but how that spurred him on to end up where he is today. We also got to talk about how Matt ended up as the stunt double for a world-class actor in a very well-known film franchise and just how and where those signature spikes originated. In this episode, I am joined by Matt Craig from Vango Rapid Repair Centre on the Central Coast of NSW Matts love of cars, where it came from, and we reminisce about the old days of $500 expendible shitboxes and the weird economy of number plates back in the late 90s and early 2000s. We talked about Matt's journey in paint and panel, how Vango Rapid Repair Centre came to be, and his experience of diving head first into business. In this episode, I am joined by Luke Veersma. Luke is a 21 year old drifter from Western Australia. In this episode, we got to talk about Luke's early days starting out in Go Karts at the age of 4 years old. Episode 109 - Erin Burns

In this episode, I am joined by Erin Burns. Erin is a drifter from Western Sydney who has grown up around the race track with her family's roots deep into drag racing. In this episode, we get to hear about how Erin spent her time growing up at the drag strip with her father being crew chief John Boskovich for quite some time before his unfortunate accident at Calder Park. We got to hear about Erin's unlikely change of direction and how she found her way to drifting and S-chassis and also what her entry into drift looked like. We also get to touch on Erin's position as a judge for the Hi-Tec drift all stars series and how she has adapted to that role coming from the drivers point of view. Episode 108 - Brendan Carroll In this episode, I am joined by Brendan Carroll from Car Builders. We get to hear about growing up near the Yarra Valley in Victoria. We got to hear about early memories of Brendan's father selling Fords in the mid to late 80's. Brendan and I got to deep dive into BMX back in the 90's and 2000's and really spent some time nerding out about those days on our bikes, and incidentally, BMX led Brendan into minitrucks and we got to hear about a bunch of Australian minitrucking history. We also got to talk about Brendan's time working with concept cars and how all of that came about, as well as chatting about his time working for General Motors before kicking off Car Builders and how all of that is interlinked. In this episode, I am joined by Jack Martin Jack is a motorsport photographer from South Eastern Sydney with a real passion for rally. In this episode, we got to hear about how Jack started out on his photographic journey and who he looks up to in the photographic world as well as who he has been able to work alongside throughout his career. We get to hear about where the love of rally started for Jack and how it has played a huge role in his life. Jack shares an unbelievable story with us from his experience on a rally stage in New Zealand, and although he's only young, it only takes a quick look at his Instagram, Facebook page or website to see that this is a young man who is going places. He found his way to the shores of Western Australia in Dunsborough for what was meant to be a working holiday and surfing trip. We got to learn about how Jordan started out in Australia, working in hospitality with no idea what he was doing as well as struggling to understand the Australian lingo at the time. We got tolearn about how Jordan's father, being an artist and a teacher, influenced him and gave him a very unique perspective that he brings into his work today. In this episode, I am joined by Guy Maxwell. Guy is a drifter from Rotorua in New Zealand. In this episode, we get to learn about how Guy moved from Gisborne on the east coast of the north island to Rotorua, which is more central and the effect that had on him when he was younger. We got to talk about his time riding dirtbikes competitively and how a serious injury and recovery period turned him to photography. We get to hear an amazing story that included an early model hilux being used as a photographic rig around racetracks and how the Toyota Hiace is Guys vehicle of choice when it comes to day to day life. In this episode, I am joined by Kurt Blackie. Kurt is a drifter from New Zealand and can be seen piloting his Toyota GT86 in the Pro ranks of D1NZ. In this episode, we got to hear about Kurt's time racing BMX from the ages of around 5 to 15 years old and how that helped spur on his competitive nature as well as being picked for the New Zealand national team to compete in Australia at the age of 12. We got to chat about Kurt's unsuspected love for Hot Rods and his dream car back when he was young. We also got to chat about the people that Kurt looked up to while he was getting into drifting and how cool it was to end up driving, quite literally, door to door with them.

In this episode, I am joined by Cam Marton.

Cam is a Victorian drifter, probably known for throwing caution to wind and binning a car or two. In this episode, we got to talk about Cam's life growing up on acreage and being able to build his own BMX and motocross dirt jumps as he was growing up as well as being super fortunate enough to have a full mechanic workshop at home.

We also got to talk about how Cam started out drifting and his favourite aspect of drifting along with his favourite tracks or spots and layouts. We talk in-depth his R33 sedan, which has just recently seen a complete rebuild on his youtube channel.

In this episode, I am joined by Glitter Gang Drift Ladies Gangsters, Bonnie, and Briony. In this episode, I got to talk with two ladies with very different upbringings but still somehow manage to share so much in common. We got to talk about Bonnie and Briony's introduction to drift and what that was like for them as well as what it's like now and some of the things they've faced along the way. We also got to talk about Glitter Gang and the ladies pushing it forward and how well received they have been in the world of drift. In this episode, I am joined by return guest, Logan Waterhouse. Logan joined us way back in episode 15, and we spoke then about him being a Datsun 120Y tragic and almost 3 years on nothing has changed. We got to talk about a massive crash that Logan had in his Rally car that was once his double duty Rally and Drift car, the damage to driver, co-driver and the car, and how he's managed to repair it and bring it back to life. We also got to talk about another 120Y that will be built solely with Drift in mind. Aside from that, I got to learn the differences between a pre-run and blind rally as well as getting into more specific rally talk. I have been wanting to learn more about rally since the inception of the podcast, and this episode has been a great start into the world of rally for me. It was great to chat with Logan about so many different aspects of rally car setup and driving, and I hope that you all enjoy this episode.

Jack shares some of his stories from growing up on a farm with zero interest in farming at all and tells us about how minitrucks ended up in the small Country Victorian town of Kaniva. 

Jack and I talked about his start in the world of minitrucks as well as his growing collection of Iconic trucks from early on in the scene.  

We got to chat about his passion project, Lumberjack Creative and how it started out vs how it's going now.  

We did have a couple of issues to contend with in this episode from a fair delay at times to a failed audio upload. If I have done my job right, you hopefully should not be able to notice it too much.

In this episode I am joined by Danny Probert.

Danny shares with us some of his history growing up avoiding becoming a mechanic only to lose the battle despite his best efforts.

We got to talk about the change Danny experienced while moving from a small town in South Australia to Darwin in the Northern Territory.

We also got to chat about his introduction to drifting, the journey from then on and why his XD Falcon was his car of choice.

I will give fair warning that this episode is a massive one, coming in just under 3 hours, but I am super thankful that Danny would give me so much of his time to chat about such a large range of topics.

In this episode I am joined by a surprisingly young pro drifter in Patrick Barlee.

In this episode Patrick and I got to talk about his entry into the world of drifting and how he managed to acquire one of the most unique drift cars in Australia. A Carbon Kevlar C6 Corvette.

The amount of work in this car to suit our Aussie aftermarket is insane and aside from the cars silhouette is a distant memory from how it was originally released in the USA.

It was also really cool to hear about how Patrick's racing history came together to make this car possible.

For a fairly young man, Patrick has truly lived a life like no other.

From starting out racing at 4 years old to living at race tracks right across the country, it is safe to say that I was not expecting to hear these stories when I first reached out to Patrick.

In this episode I am joined by Aaron Gregory of Memphis Hell. 

Aaron and I got to chat about how he started out boat building and just kind of fell into the minitruck scene. 

We got to talking about his first minitruck, known as Maximus and how cool he thought it was right up until being introduced to the minitruck scene. 

We also got to talk about Aaron's 51 Chevy Pickup, Memphis Hell, which serves as a rolling business card for his business sharing the same name and how it progressed from a "low budget build" into what it has become today. 

Anyone who knows the truck would likely know of the different guises that it has been known to wear and it was pretty exciting to learn that Aaron has more plans for it yet.

In this episode I am joined by a drifter who has made a huge name for himself in his rookie season in the Australian pro ranks.

Hailing from Tasmania and finishing 3rd overall in the Hi-Tec drift series, it's Matt Harvey.

In this episode, I get to chat with Matt about his early days in Drifting, who he looked up to at the time and how he started out.

We talk about where and how drifters in Tasmania get a majority of their seat time and how difficult and costly it is to run a successful drift program from the other side of Bass Strait.

We also got to talk about the experiences of competing in the latest and longest ever season of Hi-Tec Drifting Australia's drift championship and what it was like to walk away 3rd overall for the season.

Deft Puppiez is one of the guys I hosted the gaming podcast, Two Left Thumbs with.

In this episode, I got to sit and chat with the very well decorated Aussie drifter and absolute legend who is Brad Tuohy.

We got to talking about Brad's road to drifting through all sorts of extremely serious injuries and being struck down at the height of a successful motocross career.

We also spoke about things we can be doing better to help positively elevate drift as a recognised motorsport here in Australia, despite track closures.

Coming in at around two and a half hours, it was great to learn about Brad's history, some behind the scenes stories and his aspirations for the future.

Although this was probably the longest episode to date, I feel like I could easily sit and chat with Brad for many more hours to come.  I truly did enjoy my time talking with Brad and cannot thank him enough for joining me in this episode.

In this episode I had the absolute pleasure of finally catching up with Chris Kelly and Adrian Smith, otherwise known as Moses and AO from Never Late podcast.

We may or may not have been blessed by one Moses' homages to AO by way of song in this episode.

It was really cool to able hang with the boys for about an hour and a half and chat about their beginnings in the crazy world of automobiles and how they've gone through the years right up until their current cars.

I also got to find out about how they started out with Never Late podcast and how they've enjoyed the process over past the 14 months since they kicked it off.

This was my first time actually chatting with Moses and AO and I had an absolute blast getting to know them. So hopefully you do too.

In this episode, I get to sit down and chat with Zach and Tom from Backyard Builds.

I got to learn all manner of things about Zach and Thomas, including how they grew their collective passions for cars into a YouTube channel, how they enable each other to keep in getting work done on a massive stable ever rotating vehicles on their channel and even how sometimes, the best of us need a bit of an intervention every now and then.

It was really cool to learn that the boys have no brand allegiance and just have an absolute passion for all cars, and for a lot of them, the stories they tell.

I had an amazing time getting to know Zach and Thomas and I hope you all do too.
