Session 2 Part C - Faith on Display in Your Relationships - Jame 2:8-13
It is impossible to know what is in people's hearts merly by glancing at their outward appearances. When we marginalize the poor just because they are ragged or dirty, we make be ignoring the strength of their character or the richness of their faith. Conversely, when we honor someone because they are smartly dressed or be jeweled, we maybe elevating people of poor character to a place of honor, people who take advantage of others and are undeserving of special recognition. In James's example, the believers had honored those who oppressed them, and dragged them into court. They may have been rich in the temporary things of wealth, but what really matters is faith in God and love for others

Session 2 - Faith on Display in Your Relationship - Part B James 2:5-7
Two guest joined the regular attenders for the meeting. Both apparently were new to the meeting because they needed help knowing where they should sit. Their newness was not the only thing that made them stand out. Neither of them conformed to the normal socioeconomic standing of everyone else. One was outlandishly rich' and the other was desperately poor. The distinctions between these two men may have been obvious, but it was not our place to shine a light on those distinctions. When we do so, James asked rhetorically, do we "become judges of evil thoughts?" As we hold on to our faith in Christ, we trust Him, obey Him, and live like Him. God does not show partiality and neither should we....

Racism and prejudice are far more common than they should be among those who agree that "all are created equal." Whether the distinctions we make are racial, socioeconomic, religious, or political, we often treat people differently because they are different from us or cannot do something fo us. Poverty and riches can both be a trial. Poverty is a trial for obvious reasons. People need clean water, nutritious food, adequate shelter, and warm clothing. If they do not have these thing they will suffer. Those in poverty as constantly reminded of their dependence on God, providing them with nonstop opportunities to exercise their faith. The wealthy can have deep needs that money cannot meet, or their money may have created problems they never had before. The wealthy make a dire mistake if they think their greatest resources are what they own. Those resources are temporary, at best

Session 1 Part C = Faith on Display in Hard Times - James 1:6-8
James used a word that compares believers' various trials with a refiner's fire, which burns away impurities (1Pet. 1:6-7) God's ultimate goal in testing is that our faith becomes "mature and complete." If you want to stop being tossed about, rely on God to show you what is best for you. Ask him for wisdom, and trust that he will give it to you. Then your decision will be sure and solid!!

We can live with joy even as we go through disastrous, difficult moments. It is easier for most people to offer help to others than it is to ask for help. If you are experiencing a difficult trail, reach out to a close friend, your Bible study leader, or your Bible study group and ask for their help. James wrote to encourage the "Twelve Tribes" that was scattered around the world as they would experience "Various Trials". James instructed believers to "Consider" it a 'GREAT' JOY!!!!

Life Essentials - Spiritual Growth - Day 2 New Identity
How have our old selves been crucified with Christ? Legally, God looks at us as if we had died with Christ. Because our sins died with him, we are no longer condemned. Relationally, we have become one with Christ, and his experiences are ours. Our Christian life began when, in unity with him, we died to our old life. In our daily life, we must equally crucify sinful desires that keep us from following Christ. This, too, is a kind of dying with him Amen

Life Essentials - Spiritual Growth Milestone 1 by Dr. Tony Evens
What does it means to grow spiritually? Why does it seems so hard to grow? How long does it take? these are questions that can create an enormous amount of confusion on the matter of how Christians grow spiritually. Understanding the purpose of spiritual growth is critical to our development as Christians. Second Peter encourages us to "grow" in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
This milestone begins our journey. We will explore the importance of spiritual growth in the life of a Christian

Survivor - Surviving Pharaoh Exodus 1:22 - By Dr. Tony Evans
Moses' mother knew how wrong it would be to destroy her child. But their was little she could do to change Pharaoh's new law. Her only alternative was to hid the child and later place him in a tiny papyrus basket on the river. God used her courageous act to place her son, the Hebrew of his choice, in the house of Pharaoh. Do you sometimes feel surrounded by evil and frustrated by how little you can do about it? When faced with evil, look for ways to act against it. Then trust God to use your effort, however small it seems in his war against evil. Special opportunities may come your way unexpectedly. Don't let the fear of what might happen cause you to miss an opportunity. Be alert for the opportunities God give you and take full advantage of them.
Take time to look at the following passages:
Genesis 6:14; Exodus 2:2-9; Psalm 55:22; Proverbs 3:5-6; Matthew 11:28; and Ephesians 3:20

The Message of the Good News comes to focus in this verse. God's love is not static or selfcentered; it reaches out and draws others in. Here God sets the pattern of true love, the basis for all relationships - when you love someone dearly, you are willing to give freely to the point of self-sacrfice. God paid dearly with the life of his Son.

Part 1 - DO NOT WORRY
WORRYING IS POINTLESS
1/2 OF PART 2 A WORRY BOX
THERE ARE STRUGGLES IN LIFE THAT CAN BECOME EMOTIONAL STRONGHOLDS - things that hold you hostage and keep you from wholeheartedly serving and trusting God and experiencing the abundant life He has promised. Worrying is pointless - Jesus put worrying in perspective asked in Mattherw 6:27 (READ). If we do all we can and then entrust the outcome to God, worry is pointless. There are two days you should never spend a lot of time thinking about - yesterday and tomorrow. If you are prone to struggle with the strongholds of worry, I suggest that you make yourself a worry box by cutting a hold in a shoes box. When Satan drives you to worry, write your worry down on a slip of paper and talk to the Lord about and give it to him through that cut in that shoebox and leave it.

7 Days To A More Joyful Life Day 4 - Choose to Forgive
Living as Citizens of Heaven, In the last several weeks we have looked at Paul's pas (Phil 3:1-11), and his current circumstances (Phil 3:12-16). Now we look at his future (Phil 3:17-21)
Paul was the very model of what a Christian minister should be. He was a watchful Shepard over the flock. He did not simply preach to them and consider that he had done all his duty when he had delivered his message, but his eyes were always upon the Churches, marking their spiritual welfare, their growth in grace, or their declension in godliness. He was the unsleeping guardian of their spiritual welfare. When he was called away to other lands to proclaim the everlasting gospel, he seems always to have kept an eye up those Christian with the torch of truth, he did not fail to trim the lamps already burning

In order to share in Christ's life and in His power, we must also share in His suffering. Therefore, Paul wants to know the fellowship of sharing in his suffering. Not only that, but Paul also wants to become like (Christ) in his death. This has two meanings. First, Paul wants his old sinful self to be crucified with Christ. Second Paul is ready every day to die with Christ. Paul wrote: We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus (2 Corinthians 4:10-11) Paul is ready to lose his life for Jesus' sake (Mark 2:34-35)

Jesus Christ was humble, willing to give up his rights in order to obey God and serve people. Like Christ, we should have a servant's attitude, serving out of love for God and for others, not out of guilt or fear. Remember, you can choose your attitude. You can approach life expecting to be served, or you can look for opportunities to serve others. See Mark 10:45 for more on Christ's attitude of servant hood.

Sunday School Lesson Undeserved Mercy The Life of Cain and Able
Genesis 4:1-13
A Closing Throught
The focus of this lession is the undeserved mercy of God as illustrated in the life of Cain. Why He chose tp spare Cain, a condemned murderer, is not revealed in the text. Instead, God's warning and judgment show Him to be the God of mercy and grace. He has given His Word, warning us to avoid sin and keeep if from controling our lives. Ultimately, God gave His Son to bear the penalty for human sin and to provide the way to reconciliation and spiritual fruitfullness through faith. God still granst undeserveed mercy to the contrite and repentant
Take an inventory of your walk with the Lord this week. When have you allowed anger and an unforgiving attitude to control you? Are you guilty of approaching God with with unacceptable worship? If so, confess it, repent and praise Him for the undeserved mercy He continues to bestow on you.
Despite the turmoil in our world, God expects us to be our brothers' and sisters's keepers. Doing so requires forgiving others and accepting them as those created in the image of God. Just as God continues to grant undeserved mercy to you, extend it to someone (e.g., a family member, employer, employee, neighbor, or member of your congregation) who may have offended you intentionally,

Jesus Teaches about Worry on Sermon on the Mount
Because of the ill effects of worry, Jesus tells us not to worry about those needs that God promises to supply. Worry may:
1. damage your health
2. Disrupt your productivity
3. Negatively affect the way you treat others
4. Reduce your ability to trust in God
How may ill effects of worry are you experiencing? Here is the diffence between worry and genuine concern-worry immobilizes, but concern moves you to action.
Seven reason not to worry:
Matthew 6:25-34
6:25 - The same God who created life in you can be trusted with details of your life
6:26 - Worrying about the future hampers your efforts for today
8:27 - Worrying is more harmful than helpful
6:28-30 - God dose not ignore those who depend on him
6:31,32 - Worrying shows a lack of faith in and understanding of God
6:33 - Worrying keeps us from real challenges God wants us to pursue
6:34 - Living one day at a time keeps us from being consumed with worry
