By Habby Hour!
Join Beth, Dave and Veronica as they talk about the Montreal Canadiens and all of the positive things that are going on with the team! A podcast by Habs fans, for Habs fans.
Season 5 Episode 19 - Officially Awful
The Habs, well, still are not good! But, some regular members of the roster returned to the ice today as the Habs try to get themselves back to an NHL standard of play. Unfortunately, some bad news injury wise, coupled with curious officiating, is making an already tough season all the more frustrating.
January 18, 2022
Season 5 Episode 18 - Pantyhose
With a lack of play on the ice due to COVID postponements the gang looked to news off the ice, and it was substantial! Chantal Machabee takes over Paul Wilson's post as Vice President of Communication in the Habs organization to critical acclaim! Of course, there were other things to talk about, especially regarding a recent draft pick. All that and more in this week's Habby Hour!
January 11, 2022
Season 5 Episode 17 - Twenty Twenty Ew
The whole crew is back for the first episode of the new year! Unfortunately, the past week was yet another let down as the Habs struggled to even ice a team due to a number (16!!!) of players going under COVID protocol. We also saw the cancellation of the World Junior Championship and, well, what one can only call a series of opinions as Angela Price decided to do a QnA and someone DARED to ask her about vaccinations! With that in mind... Get vaccinated, maintain social distance, and mask up. Happy New Year!
January 04, 2022
Season 5 Episode 16 - A Habby Half Hour!
In this peculiar episode Dave takes on the past two weeks of Habs news the best way that he knows how. Alone! Both Beth and Veronica have been unavailable the past two weeks, and instead of having another week without an upload, Dave decided to do a recap. This is the last episode of 2021, and despite the Habs' woes we wish you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year!
December 28, 2021
Season 5 Episode 15 - Between the Ears
The Habs woes continue, where they have yet to record a win in regulation so far this month. The feel from the players is that the season is lost, and many are looking to what next season holds. A bright spot in the past week, despite the result, was the effort against Tampa. Yet, a lack luster performance later against the Blues leave many of us wondering just what we'll see this coming week.
December 14, 2021
Season 5 Episode 14 - Injured
Jeff Gorton speaks to the press, and the Habs' haphazard season continues, but now add injuries! Yes. More of them. There's some Habs talk, and then a bit of Sopranos and what exactly weebs are in this week's episode.
December 07, 2021
Season 5 Episode 13 - The End of an Era
The Habs drop yet another game, but the story of the week isn't the Habs record, but the movement in the front office. Marc Bergevin, Trevor Timmins, and Paul Wilson have all been relieved of their duties. Jeff Gorton assumes the role of Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations, and we assume that there are more changes to come!
November 30, 2021
Season 5 Episode 12 - Predation
Three games in the past week which included a close one, and two blowouts that went in either direction! The Habs managed their 5th win over the weekend in what is looking to be a very long season. Caufield returned to the lineup, Poehling shined, Primeau had his first start of the season, and Montembeault his first win! There may be some help on the horizon for the Habs as well, since Byron and Edmundson are getting closer to returning to the lineup. Honestly, perhaps there is more good news than bad this week. The second half of the podcast has Dave and Veronica talking about series and movies they've been watching.
November 23, 2021
Season 5 Episode 11 - Green Bowls
Another week, another near disaster for the Habs. Despite earning 4 points in 4 games, the continued awful play of the team is costing them bodies as now Jake Allen is injured, leaving the goalie tandem to Sam Montembeault and Cayden Primeau. To highlight the bad, Jeff Petry may need some talking to. To highlight the good, Nick Suzuki is leading the team in points. With all of that, the first half of the episode has Dave recounting his trip to Bowling Green and all of the fun that getting back was! And as always, an ending word to Alex Jones.
November 16, 2021
Season 5 Episode 10 - November 8, 2021 - A Habs Update
There is not a whole lot that can be said about the state of the Habs that has not already been said. Listless efforts, momentum from wins not carrying over, injuries, suspect lines, silence from Bergevin, silence from Molson. There have certainly been better days for the franchise. Despite this, we talk about what news is going on currently, and then Dave talked about a bunch of new movies.
November 09, 2021
Season 5 Episode 9 - Copium
It's been two weeks since our last episode and, uh-- The Habs haven't been doing that great! Despite a convincing win tonight against the Red Wings the Habs are currently mingling near the bottom of the league standings with a 3-8 record to start the season. Caufield has been sent to Laval, Pezzetta was called up as reinforcements, Perreault is injured, Edmundson is injured, but a sliver of hope came with a small announcement regarding Carey price and his possible return... Sooner rather than later? All of this to say that we also took time to talk about Kyle Beach and his courage in coming forward to name himself as the John Doe in the lawsuit against the Blackhawks and their handling of his sexual assault allegations.
November 03, 2021
Season 5 Episode 8 - It Was 0-3
Hockey is back! But, someone has to tell the Habs that. With their worst start to a season since 1995 the Habs are already on the ropes and questions abound! What is going on with the power play? (AGAIN) The penalty kill? Why can't the team score? However, there are many good things as well, like Drouin scoring 2 goals so far! Full crowds at the Bell Centre! The adventures of Dave! What's wrong with the United States! BETH IS BACK. And so much more!
October 19, 2021
Season 5 Episode 7 - All the Best, Carey
This is the last episode before the start of the regular season! After an interesting waiver grab and a couple of cuts the roster was finalized! Dave and Veronica talk a bit about the final two preseason games and the cuts leading up to today. Also, and most importantly, Carey Price going into the NHLPA/NHL Player Assistance Program. We are not sure of the specific reasons why, but can do nothing but support Carey while he seeks help.
October 12, 2021
Season 5 Episode 6 - Cuts and Contracts
The preseason is drawing to a close! The last two games are slated for this week, which means that the regular season (a REAL regular season) will be starting next week! Dave and Veronica go over the news from the previous week, who is cut, who got contracts, and also got a bit into the Lehner tweet storm. And, frankly, a whole lot more was covered as well!
October 05, 2021
Season 5 Episode 5 - P-P-Power Play Preseason!
The preseason is well underway! Though, the Habby Hour crew (including Beth!) took some time to acknowledge the indigenous lands that each of the hosts are speaking from. This is to commemorate Orange Shirt Day that is coming up on September 30! From there, David spoke about Isaac Asimov being a terrible human being, the podcast free wheeled on some different topics before finally landing on the Habs! Both preseason games were discussed, as well as the injuries to Caufield, Hoffman, and an update on Price and Gallagher. Though, a good chunk is spent on some of the news coming out from the Leaves' docuseries which is, well. Delicious.
September 28, 2021
Season 5 Episode 4 - Rookie Camp!
The title is a bit misleading since Dave and Veronica get into a bit more than just that! Jonathan Drouin spoke about his hiatus from the team with Chantal Desjardins and Renaud Lavoie, the Habs announced their Respect and Consent Action Plan, the rookies faced off twice against the Baby Sens, there's a PTO coming to the main training camp on Wednesday, and more! (Including some Emmy Talk and other streaming goodies).
September 21, 2021
Season 5 Episode 3 - Okay, So...
Well, well, well, well, WELL... The gang is back and (mostly) everything that happened in the off season is condensed into one hour of catching up! For those that were waiting for our return, we're sorry that it took so long! We have contracts, training camps, trades, whatever went on the past two'ish months is in here, including that thing with North Carolina. We're back!
September 14, 2021
Season 5 Episode 2 - We'll Be Back!
The gang have decided to go on a bit of a hiatus! Beth, Dave, and Veronica still feel strongly about the Habs' decision to draft Logan Mailloux, and feeling psyched about the team has been difficult. As such, they do spend time talking about the further aftermath from the draft, and some of the offseason moves that the Habs have done so fun. When will the Habby Hour be back? Not sure!
August 03, 2021
Season 5 Episode 1 - "All I Wanted Was a Heartfelt Apology"
It is a new season of the Habby Hour, and unfortunately it has to come at a time where the organization is being scrutinized, and rightly so, for their pick at the draft. Logan Mailloux, a player convicted of a sex crime in Sweden last year, is now a part of the Montreal Canadiens. David and Veronica share their thoughts on the matter.
July 27, 2021
Season 4 Episode 54 - Oh Crêpe, it's Dave!
A whole lot of news dropped last week, from the benign, to the CRAZY. Seattle's Expansion Draft has become a hotspot for Habs fans as it has been revealed that both Shea Weber and Carey Price have been left unprotected. Beth and Dave talk about all of the ins and outs of what this means, and also some other news! Remember that Ducharme and Richardson were given extensions! That seems like so long ago. Also, a big congratulations to Luke Prokop, who is the first player on contract to an NHL team to come out as gay! Hockey is for everyone.
July 20, 2021
Season 4 Episode 53 - The Offseason
Back to weekly episodes! Unfortunately Beth couldn't be here to enjoy it with us, but Dave and Veronica do what they can to get everyone caught up on what's going on with the Habs. Ducharme elected to go with a vet presence in the lineup for the start of the series against the Leafs, a historic Original 6 opponent that the Habs haven't seen in the playoffs in 42 years! Season 4 Episode 31 - Theater of the Mind (Dan Robertson)
Through thick and thin, through injuries and a historically crazy schedule, the Habs have done it. They will be contenders for the Stanley Cup this season! Unfortunately, it came due to an overtime loss against the Oilers that was backstopped by a trail of three losses against the Senators and Maple Leafs. To break down the final week of regular season play we had Dan Robertson on! He gave us insight on the team's performance, some interesting scoops on players, and some stories in and around hockey that only Dan would know. Always a treat having him on! And of course, we speculated on either series against the Oilers or the Leafs. At the time of recording it was not definite that the Jets would clinch 3rd in the division, but now we know. Habs. Leafs. First round.

Unfortunately, that wasn't all of the news this week. What. A. Week. A test for the Habs faithful as a skid after the OT heroics from Eric Staal left many wondering just what 'kind' of TEAM are the Habs! Veronica and Dave talk the issues on this week's episode of the Habby Hour!
April 14, 2021
Season 4 Episode 26 - Instaaled
Clever episode name, GET IT? The Habs managed a decent week of play from last episode to tonight, going 3-1 in that stretch and showing what the team MIGHT be, even though the one loss also showed what the team MIGHT be. Dave worries about that aspect of the Habs, while Veronica says that you win some and lose some, who's right?? Aside from the games played, the Habs faithful had their first look at Eric Staal, who had a historic debut game for the team! Also, updates on Gallagher and Price, what to do in either situation if either player is out long term, a bit about the Rocket, and then some TV shows, AND more!
April 07, 2021
Season 4 Episode 25 - Blakeny?!
What are you supposed to talk about what all of the games for the past week were postponed? Well, a whole lot, apparently! There was no shortage of Habs news despite there being no practices or games since their games were postponed last week. For starters, a number of Habs prospects competed in the NCAA tournament this weekend, with ONE name in particular getting bounced out in his first game... Thereby paving his way to his first pro contract... Wonder who that was! Also, a trade! In exchange for two draft picks the Habs have rescued Eric Staal from a fate worse than death! Playing another minute of Sabres hockey. Once his quarantine is over you can expect him to have a regular spot on the roster. But, how?? What about the cap?? And how good are the Rocket this year?? We talk about all this and more!

The Habs continue to fire on all cylinders as a repeat thumping was aided once again by the Canuck Killer, Tyler Toffoli. However, there was so much more to the past week as well! January 26, 2021
Season 4 Episode 15 - It's His Club (Simon Tsalikis)

Some good news! The NHL and the NHLPA have agreed to a 2020-2021 season! Or, perhaps it would just be a 2021 season? Season 3 Episode 33 - Zebra Season
What ELSE were we going to talk about tonight?? Of course, with this episode coming after the game against Dallas, and the exchange heard around Habs fandom, we talk about Gallagher's foray against the refs after the OT loss and the general lack of accountability that officials apparently have in the NHL. After that, we get into the injury news and the anticipated roster updates going into this week's games. The main point here? Shea Weber is back! (?!) February 17, 2020.

January 14, 2020
Season 3 Episode 27 - 19 Years Later...
Happy New Year! Unfortunately, it could be happier for les boys as the past couple of weeks have been unkind, putting the team into a questionable position for the playoffs, as anyone can see if they're following David! He believes that the season is lost, while Beth and Veronica keep hope for a turn around. Which is not without merit! Bergevin has been busy trying to alleviate the injuries that keep plaguing the team as a few new players enter the roster. Most notably? 1st overall pick in 2001 and Atlanta Thrasher legend, Ilya Kovalchuk. January 6, 2020.

Season 3 Episode 24 - Expect Nothing, Expect Everything
For starters, we amend and finally make mention of a monumental shift in the Habs season TWO weeks ago when the winless streak ended! We also finally give due diligence to the captain's night, and share some thoughts on that. However, back to more recent business, the Habs suffered yet another loss against the Red Wings, a team that can be said is not doing all that well this season, insofar that they are the lowest ranked team in the league, and it is the second time this season that the Habs fell to them on home ice. Is it a problem? The crew discuss this and a whole slew of other things in tonight's episode! (like how the habs had a three game winning streak JUST before) December 16, 2019.

December 10, 2019
Season 3 Episode 22 - Way To Go Paul (Paul Campbell)
Surprise!! The second episode of the week! Recorded right after the game against Colorado, we had a LOT to talk about even without that awful hit on Kotkaniemi. We wish are Sweet Baby Eagle the best! And a speedy recovery! The reason that we recorded on this night is that we had a guest on, and it was none other than Paul Campbell! Paul is the go to guy when it comes to the nuance and technique of minding the net in the NHL, and he had some really interesting things to say about the (now dead) winless streak. We also talked about the durability of babies. December 5, 2019.

December 03, 2019

It's our birthday! Sorta. On March 10th, 2018 we recorded the first episode of the Habby Hour which came at the tail end of one of the most disastrous seasons in the history of the Montreal Canadiens. Now? Things are looking up! In order to further commemorate the occasion, Ashley (and Angus) were able to join us! With the original crew back together we spent most of the episode reminiscing on the past year, where the Habs were, where they are now, and a bit of the recent news. Of course, the western road trip has been concluded, and it did not yield the results that many were hoping for. And it is these things, and more, that we talk about in this episode! March 11th, 2019.

Season 2 Episode 35 - A Weal Good Price For A Plante (With Dan Robertson)
This is our 50th episode! The 'dreaded' western road trip has started after games in New York and Pittsburgh! The Habs took on the Kings in LA, and it marked the first game where Kotkaniemi was a scratch. This meant that we were able to get a glimpse of Jordan Weal, and what he brought to the game against LA. To say the least, it was quite a game! Veronica and Dave host the episode since Beth was unfortunately held up. However, we were lucky to be joined by none other then TSN690's own Dan Robertson! He shared his times and experiences as a broadcaster, and his thoughts on the Habs with us! March 6th, 2019.
