This is it! The last episode before a REAL NHL hockey game! In this episode the crew talk about training camp thus far, the players placed on waivers, both the surprises and the necessities, and also the sad parting of a particularly beloved Hab. There is also a dive into Romanov, Anderson, a shoutout to the meetup of Habs friends on Twitter for the scrimmage, and much more! Also, disclaimer! There are more than a few minutes devoted to the unrest in the United States from last week's violence at the Capitol in DC, and also some talk about Mel Gibson? You know how it is, a typical Habby Hour! Which can now be viewed on YouTube as well! Link here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIj5_eukULSCtixP7Akiw7g January 11, 2021.
Real hockey is imminent! The Habs training camp started yesterday and we're all about talking about what's coming out of Brossard! We go over the news, the lines, the surprises, and speculate a bit on the upcoming season. We also spend some time talking about the World Juniors! While recording Team Canada was playing Team Russia, with Team USA vs Team Finland tonight. So much hockey! Enjoy! Happy New Year! January 4, 2021.
It is the last episode of the year, good BYE 2020! So, everyone knows that the Habs made some acquisitions during this offseason, with one copming in just today in none other than COREY. PERRY. Love him, or hate him, he is now a Hab! But, before that, Bergevin also acquired Jake Allen and Joel Edmundson, both of which won a cup with St. Louis. It is for that reason that we were happy to have a Blues fan call in, Guy Bensing! Guy heads the St. Louis Fan Report website (stlfanreport.com) and talked to us about everything from the former Blues players, the World Juniors, the new divisions, and more! December 28, 2020.
Some good news! The NHL and the NHLPA have agreed to a 2020-2021 season! Or, perhaps it would just be a 2021 season? Either way, hockey is happening next month and the Habby Hour cover all the basics that have been released so far. Also! We will have hockey this week as the World Junior Championship will be starting on Christmas Day this Friday! If that wasn't enough, the gang also talk about some shows, and Beth's vaccination! And, of course, a bit about COVID-19 as well. Merry Christmas! COBRA KAI, DO OR DIE. December 21, 2020.
This week with have TSN690 radio extraordinaire Sean Campbell on to talk Habs, and more! What's the deal with moving Byron? What's the first line? What's the 2nd line? What's the deal with the NHL's proposed 'taxi' system? How will callups work between the NHL and AHL when the affiliations are across the border? How do you name children? Will Suzuki and Kotkaniemi be better this season? And did you KNOW that Sean is getting his own beer AND he has his own podcast?? December 14, 2020.
The past week has seen many anniversaries with the Habs! Both great and solemn. These include the Habs' 111th birthday, as well as the passing and funeral of the great Monsieur Beliveau. These things and more were put into detailed perspective by none other than NHL Historian Dave Stubbs. Dave joins us tonight to talk all things Habs past, present, and future! Also.. Welcome back, Beth! December 7, 2020.
The off season rolls on and Dave and Veronica have (most) of the latest news out of Habs world! An update on Cole Caufield, a change in the front office, and words from Kirk Muller and Dominique Ducharme. Aside from that? A deep dive into the cinematic world of Christopher Nolan, and praise for Barry and Schitt's Creek! And then? A little bit about Queen's Gambit. And then?? Dave's strange dreams, and what we all should be doing during COVID... Wearing a mask!!! November 30, 2020.
There was some news this week! Beth could not join us so David and Veronica take on the latest in this episode all by THEMSELVES. Highlights include the Habs losing their Director of Amateur Scouting to Florida, updates on Sweet Baby Eagle, Cole Caufield, and Cam Hillis, and Veronica takes a deep dive into the Athletic's latest Fan Survey! November 23, 2020.
Did you KNOW that the Habs (and the NHL in general) have released their Reverse Retro jersey designs? Fun! The gang take some time to critique every one of them with extreme bias against every team except for the Habs. However.. Before that, a long, windy conversation about the new season of The Crown, the Spider-Man: Miles Morales video game, Pennsylvania, and a few movies! November 16, 2020.
The offseason continues, and new info is few and far between, however! The crew manage some Habs info, in particular to updates about Alexandre Alaine and Rafael Harvey-Pinard as well as Josh Brooks' loan out to Germany. Aside from that, there is some gushing about the new BUZZ at the Bell Centre, reaffirming the severity of COVID-19, and what reoccurring dreams Beth and Veronica have! November 9, 2020.
When it comes to slow news weeks, you know what happens. The crew breezes through the sparse Habs info there is (Halloween costumes, an update on Guhle, and interesting points from Bouchard and Ramage) and then dive into everything not at ALL hockey related! How much are curlers paid? Who's Sean Penn dating? Is NXIVM real? Dave makes music?? There's an election tomorrow?? (Vote Biden) November 2, 2020.
What an absolute pleasure it is to have none other then the voice of the Montreal Canadiens himself, Michel Lacroix! We catch up with him on how he has been doing with the PGA tours, life during COVID, and of course, the Habs! Some surprising little tidbits are scattered throughout the episode as we dive into the trades in the offseason, the draft, and what the overall future of the Habs is looking like going forward. To sum it up? Monsieur Lacroix is excited as are we! Also, we find out who his favorite Petry is, listen in! October 26, 2020.
Last month there was a bit of a scare on Habs Twitter when one of the best people to cover the Habs, John Lu, announced that he had been battling COVID-19. Since then, we, and so many others, were relieved to see him return to cover the draft and free agency. And we were overjoyed when John agreed to come on the podcast with us tonight, We spent most of this episode talking to him about his experiences with COVID-19, and how he is feeling now. Suffice it to say, the virus is very real, and we all must continue to be mindful of the restrictions that we have been living with since this all started, and adhere to them. The latter part of the episode does get into some Habs talk where we discuss the all important Gallagher extension, and get into the details as to why Allen was given a contract extension. October 19, 2020.
Finally! A new season of the Habby Hour! This comes whenever the draft happens, and of course due to COVID the calendar of the NHL season was changed, which means that OUR calendar changed! Either way, with the draft and free agency happening in one week there was a WHOLE lot to talk about, and we had none other than Grant McCagg with us to help navigate all of the news and draft picks made by the Habs. All you need to know about Toffoli, Anderson, the new crop of players in the system and more can be heard here. Enjoy! October 12, 2020.
It's the season finale FINALLY! And we have a VERY special guest on with us! Unfortunately, we do not talk a whole lot about the all important draft tomorrow, but we do talk about the very important Nick Suzuki with none other than Mrs. Superior Propane herself, Amanda Suzuki! Nick's mom joins us for a full hour talking about what it's like raising an NHL player, how it all started, what the trade from Vegas was like, the playoff experiences at Guelph and Montreal, life during COVID and a whole lot more! You won't want to miss this one! October 5, 2020.
You get a contract! And you get a contract! And you get a contract! That was the name of the game with this past week of Habs news, some AHL level contracts being locked up while the BIG news comes from Jeff Petry as he will be with the team for another 4 years! Since that is Veronica's favorite player, she was very happy! In other news, Dave got his account suspended, bad Dave! But, you can find him @MetalDave02 on Twitter just in case you were wondering. Aside from that, there is some brief words about Norlinder, Caufield, and what the next NHL season MIGHT look like. September 28, 2020.
Tonight's episode starts off with scary news regarding John Lu, a repeat guest on the podcast and a dear friend. His Twitter account (@JohnLuTSNMTL) has a thread of his condition after having been diagnosed with COVID-19 and how he is doing now. The gang then air their grievances about COVID-19 and how so many people are still not taking it seriously. Hockey-wise, there's only so much news regarding the Habs! Beth provides an update regarding prospects playing over in Europe, there's talk about Edmundson's contract, and take a look at who made the NHL's All-Rookie team! September 21, 2020.
Wow!! We had Tara Slone on! It was great! The gang +1 talk about Tara's career, her interviews on Top of HER Game on Sportsnet, how hockey and other sports are reacting to inclusion and #BlackLivesMatter, and a ton more! Could you believe that we fit in some Habs talk as well? You can't miss this episode! September 14, 2020.
Has it finally happened? Did the Habs solve their backup goalie situation? The crew break down the latest trade for the Habs which might dictate how things will go for the rest of the off season. We touch on this, the Vejdemo loan, and take some time to talk about the Executive Inclusion Council which a member of the Habs' brass is a part of! And, expected, there are some unexpected twists here and there! September 7, 2020.
With the Habs out of the playoffs, the crew make due in talking about what they can, and what happened in the past week? Well! A lot of stuff that Alain Vigneault certainly doesn't know! Beth and Veronica take the reins in talking about his attitude towards the #BlackLivesMatter movement and so, so much more. Particular emphasis is given to the strikes across the sports world as the NBA, MLS, and WNBA had games postponed in order to show solidarity with those that are grieving. The NHL were noticeably not a part of the movement, but joined in the following evening. Eventually, there is Habs talk as questions are taken from our Twitter followers! Thank you all! August 31, 2020.
NICE. We're back for the 69th episode of this season of the Habby Hour! NICE. What better way to celebrate this momentous occasion than with having one of the most elegant dressers in hockey join us? John Lu is back with us to talk about the bubble (nice), the Habs (nice), Domi trade rumors (nice), what's up with Poehling (nice), and MORE. Have a listen! NICE. August 24, 2020.
And there you have it, after an unlikely entry into the qualifiers, after earning a spot in the playoffs, after going toe to toe with the top seeded team in the east, the Habs were finally eliminated in game 6 of the 2020 Stanley Cup playoffs. And.. That's it! Veronica and Dave go over the highlights of the game, what to expect in the off-season from the Habs, and thoughts on the playoffs overall. And more! August 21, 2020.
If you were looking for a different game from the last two, well, YOU GOT IT. EVERYTHING happened. Goals in nearly every possible way, penalties galore, blood, scrums, yard sales, and it is now a NEW series as the Habs stay alive with a 5-3 win over the Flyers! The series is now 2-3 against the Habs who have to keep their playoff hopes alive on Friday. Dave and Veronica try to go through the highlights in this recap that includes a game misconduct for our SWEET BABY EAGLE. WHAT. August 20, 2020.
Well! Game 4 is in the books and the Habs are now officially on the wire. Tomorrow night is do or die hockey as nos Canadiens fell to the Flyers in a 0-2 decision. There are a lot of questions to be asked now! Where did the goals go? What will the Habs response be? What is there to do? Dave and Veronica have a talk (NOT a fight!) and try to make sense of what's going on in a game recap! August 18, 2020.
The result wasn't there, in fact, this game was very similar to the first game! The Habs and Flyers played as defensively hockey wise as they could, and all it took was a single deflection past Price to give the game to the Flyers. In this episode we talk about the game, and a few other things, with none other than TSN's Gord Miller! He also happens to have more than a few thoughts about our Sweet Baby Eagle! August 16, 2020.
If you were not able to watch this game, you will HAVE to find a way to, because it was possibly the best hockey that the Habs have played in a decade. They smothered the Flyers from the start, and never let up on the gas. Price was Price, some big names contributed, and the kids are all right! Unfortunately, this comes a day after the hockey world became aware of Coach Julien's trip to the hospital due to experiencing chest pains in the evening after Game 1. It is not COVID related, and Julien is now resting well in Montreal. All indications point to him being in good health with nothing short but a full recovery expected! This gave Kirk Muller a chance to work with the boys, and the result speaks for itself. He and Julien had a plan and executed it. A 5-0 victory to tie the series! August 14, 2020.
The playoffs have officially began for our Montreal Canadiens! They are up against the top seeded Philadelphia Flyers, and game 1 proved to be a tight game from both teams! It ultimately ended in a loss for the Habs, but it wasn't without some astounding and promising play from a number of players. Yet, a bit extra from some usual suspects would help! We go over this and more in tonight's recap! August 12, 2020.
Back to our regularly scheduled programming, hi! With the Habs winning the series against the Penguins their next opponent comes on Wednesday in the form of the Philadelphia Flyers. A match up that WILL be tough for a number of reasons, and they are all explained by a special guest, Dennis Bernstein! We chat about the series against the Penguins, the coming series against the Flyers, the current state of hockey, what the future may bring for our Habs, and much more! Happy Birthday Nick Suzuki! August 10, 2020.
AND THAT'S IT. With a 2-0 shutout by Carey Price to stop the Penguins our Montreal Canadiens have advanced into the playoffs! It has been a long time coming, with the last series played against the Rangers, and then the seasons of sorrow that followed. During the course of the series the young guns stepped up in ways that cemented them as caliber players in the NHL. Who would have thought that we would be seeing Nick Suzuki taking draws and deployments against none other than Sidney Crosby?? It is a time for celebration! PLAYOFFS!!! August 8, 2020.
Well how about THAT. The stars were out tonight as the Habs take a lead in the series with a 4-3 win over the Penguins! A back and forth affair that saw the Habs take an early lead, only to go down 3-1, and then retake the lead with 3 unanswered goals! We talk about all of the highlights in tonight's recap of the game!
OH NO. It's like the qualifiers haven't even happened now! The Habs drop a decision against the Pens, 3-1. But! That was not to say that the Habs didn't put effort into it! The power play is still suffering, yet the penalty kill has been stellar, with BIG thanks to, the usual man, Carey Price! We go over want went right, what went wrong, and more in this (half) episode of the Habby Hour! August 3, 2020.
Game 1 is in the books and... Wouldn't you believe it? THE HABS WON! It took overtime to do it, but Jeff Petry put the Penguins to bed. In a complete turn around from the exhibition game on Tuesday against the Leafs, the Habs took the Pens to task in nearly every front! Even strength, power play, penalty kill, all fronts were trouble spots for the Pens and it translated well on the ice. Further, the Habs rookies shined, as Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Nick Suzuki got on the scoreboard with their first goals of their playoff careers! It's a very exciting time for Habs fans going into the rest of this series! Aside from hockey, we also talk about the attention that the NHL is giving to the Hockey Diversity Alliance, and the push to End Racism. We have all of the highlights, and more on this episode of the Habby Hour! August 1, 2020.
Here is a short post game recap with Dave and Veronica talking about the (YEESH) game against the Leafs. According to David, there is now NO. WAY. For the Habs to beat the Penguins. While Veronica asserts that there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASONS to fret. Who will be right? We'll find out this weekend! But for now, the duo talk about the game, highlighting the power play, and later on talking about some interesting things regarding the time on ice...
Can. You. BELIEVE IT!!! Hockey is back TOMORROW NIGHT. We will FINALLY be able to watch the NHL's return to play plan come to fruition with the exhibition matches this week. We will have the Habs facing off against the Leafs at 8pm EST. A completely fresh squad coming off of weeks of training camp! Some interesting lines were presented at practice today, and we're anticipating if they will hold together come tomorrow. All of this to prepare for the start of the Qualifying Round which starts THIS weekend! And who would have thought that the NHL would be able to pull it off, especially after seeing how well MLB is doing. July 27, 2020.
Well, how about that! Of all the people to show up at practice, none other than Max Domi appeared and took to the ice for the first time for the training camp! It was smiles all around as the team was happy to have his presence both on and off the ice. We talk about him, the implications of him playing, the means that the NHL are taking to ensure the health of the players, an update on Romanov, a bit of a scary moment with McNiven and more! Also! It was only Beth and David for this one since Veronica is on vacation. Short and sweet episode! July 20, 2020.
Did you know that we're going to have ACTUAL hockey in less than three weeks?? The 2019-2020 season will have a conclusion and the Canadiens will be a part of it! Today was the official start of Phase 3! Training Camp! The Habs have released a roster and 'real' practices are now taking place! We were also treated with a presser from Marc von Bergevin, who was later joined by Shea Weber and Paul Byron, and we also learned that Alexander Romanov will be officially making his way to Montreal to take part in the practices! However, he is NOT eligible to play in the qualifiers. We talk about all this, and more, with none other than Dan Robertson! July 13, 2020.
All sorts of news coming out of the NHL this past week, especially today! We learn about Olympic play, the eligibility of Romanov to join the Habs during the coming playoffs, dates for the return to play plan, and which Habs are taking the ice this week! We talk about so much more, and then go WAY off target in the latter half of the episode as we recall what third grade was like for each of us. July 6, 2020.
It is no surprise that COVID-19 continues to impact our lives, and as it has been since the pandemic started, the NHL is attempting to go forward with their return to play plan. What is going on now? When will things be decided? What is the status of the hub cities? We talk about this with The Fourth Period's Dennis Bernstein! He offered a number of insights into why he believes that return to play is definitely happening, and drops some info about one of the hub cities, 99.99% sure that one is decided, according to him! We also talk about the unique draft lottery, and the Habs chances against the Penguins! June 29, 2020.
Hockey is starting to slowly, ever so slowly, come back! We were treated to videos from small practices that included Jonathan Drouin, Paul Byron, Charles Hudon, Laurent Dauphin, and Michael McNiven. This also meant that 'some' media coverage could continue.. At least from outside of the building! John Lu joins us to talk about the Habs returning to the ice, how COVID-19 continues to take its toll upon the viability of the NHL's return to play plans, hair, long road trips, and more! June 22, 2020
Some progress in the NHL's return to play plan is happening this week! Though, it is still moving at a glacial pace. For the Habs, the training facility in Brossard is officially open to the players, but still closed to the media and the general public. But, which players can use it? Listen to find out! We also talking about Molson's conference with the press, Weber being honored, and another honor that is LONG overdue for none other than Youppi! June 15, 2020.
Some happy news for Habs fans! The Prices are expecting another wee one! We talk about that (briefly) and focus more on the return to play format and who is where doing what. Are the Habs training yet? Is Brossard going to be open to the public? What are the protests over George Floyd's murder doing to the NHL? And COVID? Still?? We talk about all this, and more! Much more. June 8, 2020.
We were very lucky and pleased to have Brian Wilde join us on the podcast tonight to talk about a number of topics pertaining to the Habs, and beyond. In particular we talk about the Return to Play format, the Habs chances against the Penguins, the Habs chances over all with the Cup and the draft, and highlighted a bit of what Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Alexander Romanov mean for the team! As mentioned on our Twitter feed, we do not want to just stick to sports in the wake of everything that has transpired after the murder of George Floyd, so we take time to acknowledge that this is a time of grief, yet also a time of coming together. #BlackLivesMatter June 1, 2020
The conversation is starting, the NHL and the NHL Player's Association have started making preliminary agreements for what could be a 24 team playoff sometime later this year. Much is uncertain, and we speak about it (briefly). The chunk of this episode is spent talking about the Habs of the past! Ten years ago to the date (nearly) the Habs were eliminated by the Flyers in the 2010 playoffs after shocking the hockey world with series victories against the Capitals and the Penguins. What led to this surprise run? We have Sean Gordon on to talk all about it! Right on the heels of an article from The Athletic that tackles this same fascinating story. Also, ice cream. May 25, 2020.
Rumors are starting to fly about the NHL going forward with a 24 team playoff format! That means that the Habs would be in the playoffs! That also means that everyone loves it, and everyone hates it! The crew talk about this dynamic along with the guest this week, Simon Tsalikis. That and much more! May 18, 2020.
We begin this episode with remembering a fond member of the Habs Twitter community. Graeme McDonald, @uncleshroom, was kind, thoughtful, a passionate fan of les Canadiens de Montreal, and so much more. He passed earlier this year, and we only heard about it just recently. We wanted to spend time remembering him, and the first segment of this episode is dedicated to that. For Habs news, we discuss Alexander Romanov's impending arrival to North America, Joel Bouchard's words about Kotkaniemi and his coaching philosophy, the AHL cancellation, Cole Caufield's honoring, and a couple of other things. May 11, 2020.
Disclaimer! Dave starts this podcast about Paul Byron talking about Star Wars and everything went wrong from there. This episode covers everything from Star Wars, Harry Potter, zombies, West World, and more! Habs content made up maybe a third of the episode, you have been warned! May 4, 2020.
As usual, the pandemic continues on, and so does the Habby Hour! For this episode we are very pleased to have Arpon Basu on to talk Habs! A little. In reality we cover a wide range of topics, including McDonalds breakfast as children, and random commercial jingles. But! When we did get to the topic of the Habs, we spent some time discussing the newly minted contract for Vasili Demchenko, Steve Mason, The Athletic Montreal's fan vote, and a bit on Tomas Plekanec! April 27, 2020.
The quarantine continues, social distancing continues, and the NHL? Still suspended. We take to Twitter to ask our listeners for some questions, and you all certainly delivered! Aside from the questions that were taken, we speak about the quarantine, what could be happening with the league, the tragedy in Nova Scotia, and the retirement of a Habs staple, Andrei Markov.
Precious little news from the Habs front, but what little was found had something to do with a certain Russian prospect. What to know more? Then listen to this week's episode of the Habby Hour! The gang took questions from fans, talked about what's going on around the league, what's going on outside of the league, and more! April 13, 2020.
The NHL postponement continues, and the Habby Hour have another guest this week with none other than TSN690's Sean Campbell! To fill the sports void Sean has taken to Twitter to put together a bracket of great sports moments that took place in Montreal, check it out on his feed (@seanrcampbell). We also go over some of the things that the Montreal Children's Foundation is doing, as well as Groupe CH, during this unique and trying time, giving back to the community! On the Habs front, we talk about Jake Evans, Laurent Dauphin, and the NHL Player's Association poll that brought some (obvious) joy to the Habs faithful! April 6, 2020.
In what would have been the last week of the regular season for the NHL, we see the postponement continue with no end in sight. Despite this, the Habby Hour must go on! Tonight the entire crew is back together and we had Paul Campbell on to join us once again! Want to know about the backup goalie situation in Montreal? It's pretty interesting! Want to know about potential backup goalies in UFA this off season? Well, it's prety interesting, too! We talk about that and so much more in this episode of the Habby Hour! March 30, 2020.
The NHL continues is still suspended as COVID-19 keeps its grip on North America, and around the world. Beth has the night off, leaving Dave and Veronica to speak to Dan Robertson (@DanRTSN) about what they're doing doing during the various levels of lockdown and even manage to talk about some hockey! You'll find some insight about the situation surrounding Romanov, whether Drouin's play at the beginning of the season was an anomaly or not, whether Kovalchuk will return, and so much more! Dan also shares a few stories about Sidney Crosby and his personal takes on a number of things in this week's episode of the Habby Hour! March 23, 2020.
A week ago was a different world, in both sports and our personal lives. The NHL season is suspended as the coronavirus has reached North America. Despite this, the Habby Hour will still be doing episodes, like the one tonight! In a wide ranging episode, the crew speak with Michel Lacroix about the state of the league, the recent news of Molson and the Habs players providing assistance to the part time Bell Centre workers, the passing of Henri Richard, a recap of the weekend the Habby Hour enjoyed in Montreal, and so, so much more! We all need some brevity, and Michel was more than happy to give it! March 16, 2020.
There is a lot to talk about in regards to the Habs this week, with Kotkaniemi's injury in Laval, Tatar's injury while playing against the Islanders, Vejdemo's call up to the big club, and the first shutout to be suffered, yet all of that pales in comparison to the passing of the legendary Henri Richard. We are joined by NHL Historian and Montreal native Dave Stubbs (@Dave_Stubbs) in speaking about Henri and his immense legacy both on and off the ice. March 9, 2020.
The name may be misleading but that's what it felt like! Beth, David, and Veronica all made their way to Montreal to catch two games in Montreal! In this episode the crew talk about their time in Montreal in as much detail as they can manage, even though Dave had little to no memory of getting back to the airbnb one evening.. Lots of shout outs, and surprises, in this one! March 2, 2020.
The trade deadline has come! And gone! And the after a presser from Bergevin it looks like the Habs are staying the course with their current core, making a run for the playoffs, and waiting until the draft and July 1st to reassess where the team is at. Unfortunately, the Habs parted with Kovalchuk (for now) and also with Nate Thompson, both of which will be missed immensely. Matthew Peca and Nick Cousins were also moved, but there was more to it than just that, and we had the great John Lu to talk about it with us! Also... It's our 100th episode! February 24, 2020.
What ELSE were we going to talk about tonight?? Of course, with this episode coming after the game against Dallas, and the exchange heard around Habs fandom, we talk about Gallagher's foray against the refs after the OT loss and the general lack of accountability that officials apparently have in the NHL. After that, we get into the injury news and the anticipated roster updates going into this week's games. The main point here? Shea Weber is back! (?!) February 17, 2020.
Another week of the playoff push in the books as this episode comes after the Arizona game where the time to make history was upon them! We talk about what exactly that means, and a bunch of other stuff. There were call ups! Injuries! And if that is enough adversity for the team on top of everything else that went on this season, well, there it is. But, there was some good news! Jonathan Drouin is back! All this and more on this week's Habby Hour! February 10, 2020.
February has begun, and so begins the busiest month for the Habs. Every game is important, as has been the case for a while now. This episode highlights the previous three games, and the first back to back of the month during Super Bowl weekend! Some major developments have happened! The return of Gallagher, and the status of Sweet Baby Eagle and Cale Fleury. Also, the flu?? All this and more in this episode of the Habby Hour! February 3, 2020.
Habs hockey is back! And, as has been the tale of the tape for much of the season, they have a mountain to climb to make it to the post season. We talk about that, and more, with friend of the podcast Simon Tsalikis! January 27, 2020.
The Habs are getting their momentum back, and that is either a good or bad thing with the bye week taking place this week! Armia returns, and the Habby Hour spend time talking about him and how the team looks with him back on it, but also about Ilya Kovalchuk's continued great play with the club. We also take some time to talk about Sweet Baby Eagle's flying fists in Philly! That and more on this week's episode! January 20, 2020.
The new year and decade seem to be terming around! The Habs took the past weekend by the horns and it continued into Monday night as they start a streak in the OTHER direction. They cannot suffer another skid in any way, and the Habs are doing everything they can to remain in the race for the greatest trophy in the land. To talk about how the team is going, and to go deeper into the Ilya Kovalchuk acquisition, the Habby Hour were happy to have Dennis Bernstein on as a guest! He gave us his perspective of the season thus far and (gasp) mentioned some things that the Habby Hour Ladies were NOT fond of! If it's not the search for a partner for Weber, maybe it's a first line center that's required now? Listen in! January 13, 2020.
Happy New Year! Unfortunately, it could be happier for les boys as the past couple of weeks have been unkind, putting the team into a questionable position for the playoffs, as anyone can see if they're following David! He believes that the season is lost, while Beth and Veronica keep hope for a turn around. Which is not without merit! Bergevin has been busy trying to alleviate the injuries that keep plaguing the team as a few new players enter the roster. Most notably? 1st overall pick in 2001 and Atlanta Thrasher legend, Ilya Kovalchuk. January 6, 2020.
Everyone here at the Habby Hour wish you had a great holiday! The previous week was marked with a strong win against the WInnipeg Jets on Monday that led to the holiday recess. But, the Habs were back on the ice this past weekend for a back to back in Florida against the Bolts and the Panthers, and!.. Well. What happened? The crew talk about the games, what went on, and also veered a little bit into the World Juniors and the All Star game! December 30, 2019.
The last game before the holiday break was quite a show! The Habby Hour crew talk about the recent tilt against the Jets, and also about the rest of the games from the past week in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. Old faces return! New worries surface! Yet when it was all said and done the Habs return home with more than a few treats. Aside from hockey, the crew talk about their plans for the holidays, and about the rest of the schedule of the year for the Habs. December 23, 2019.
For starters, we amend and finally make mention of a monumental shift in the Habs season TWO weeks ago when the winless streak ended! We also finally give due diligence to the captain's night, and share some thoughts on that. However, back to more recent business, the Habs suffered yet another loss against the Red Wings, a team that can be said is not doing all that well this season, insofar that they are the lowest ranked team in the league, and it is the second time this season that the Habs fell to them on home ice. Is it a problem? The crew discuss this and a whole slew of other things in tonight's episode! (like how the habs had a three game winning streak JUST before) December 16, 2019.
After just a few days we are back with another episode to cover some of the news that's circulating around the Habs! David was able to watch the Habs play the Rangers at MSG, and crew go into some of the details of that game. Some roster moves were made once again, including our usual suspect Charles Hudon, and a tip of the hat is given to a couple of the young prospects on an international achievement! December 9, 2019.
Surprise!! The second episode of the week! Recorded right after the game against Colorado, we had a LOT to talk about even without that awful hit on Kotkaniemi. We wish are Sweet Baby Eagle the best! And a speedy recovery! The reason that we recorded on this night is that we had a guest on, and it was none other than Paul Campbell! Paul is the go to guy when it comes to the nuance and technique of minding the net in the NHL, and he had some really interesting things to say about the (now dead) winless streak. We also talked about the durability of babies. December 5, 2019.
A week that will not be remembered fondly by the Habs faithful. What is the team to do now?? And what exactly happened?? The winless streak has extended to eight games, and is now starting to enter historic territory. Ghosts of seasons just in the past are creeping into the mindset of a fanbase that we know can be stirred into a frenzy at the smallest miscue. The Habby Hour crew attempts to dive into what is going on, but also, to highlight the anniversary of a loss that les Canadiens and the city of Montreal will never forget. December 2, 2019.
What a week! To forget! If you're a fan. But, if you're a player, it's one to remember and learn from! Since a stunning lose to the Rangers many questions have arose. Should Bergevin make a move? Does Price make too much money? Are the kids a bust? Are the Habs a playoff team? We ask (most) of these questions, and more, to a special guest straight from RDS! Francois Gagnon! November 25, 2019.
All that we had to talk about going into Monday were the games against Columbus (hm..), Washington (yay!), and Jersey (what???). Everything was in order, but then, tragedy struck and two VERY familiar names had to go under the knife! Jonathan Drouin and Paul Byron have to undergo surgery, and we talk all about it with none other than TSN's voice of the Montreal Canadiens, Bryan Mudryk! Listen in to find out about his choice Uber Eats fare and so much more! November 18, 2019.
And check out: http://bit.ly/MyBookie-MassiveLateFee
Suffice it to say, there was a bit of controversy stirred up over Don Cherry's comments on Hockey Night In Canada. These comments, and the subsequent actions taken, are spoken about in tonight's Habby Hour! We also take time to thank both our Canadian and American troops, and then get into the good week that the Habs were having! Milestones reached, zebras stampeding, and more! November 11, 2019.
And check out: http://bit.ly/MyBookie-MassiveLateFee
A month into the season and there are some things that are making us wonder when it comes to the Habs. In particular the penalty kill, the play of Paul Byron, Drouin's ascent, and how one of the Habs' top prospects will impact the team. With Kotkaniemi out with a groin injury, Ryan Poehling is getting his first shot with the club this season against none other then the Bruins. To break all of this down we had TSN690's very own Mitch Melnick on! Well worth the listen as Mitch is a treasure of knowledge and made for a very enjoyable episode. Listen in! November 4, 2019.
And check out: http://bit.ly/MyBookie-MassiveLateFee
What a week it's been! Full of downs, and ups! The Habby Hour crew welcomes TSN690's Simon Tsalikis back to talk about the games against the Sharks and the Leafs. Highlights include the penalty kill, lowlights include the penalty kill, and the medium lights also include the penalty kill! Aside from that, we nod our heads to Drouin's continued excellence, take a minute to talk about the d-corps, and maybe, perhaps, a trade is coming?? Listen and find out! October 28, 2019.
And check out: http://bit.ly/MyBookie-MassiveLateFee
The Habby Hour crew is back and there is a LOT to say about a LOT! With nearly 10 games played in the regular season for the Habs, Dave, Beth, and Veronica talk about the emergence of Drouin, the souring of the power play, the cratering of the penalty kill, the whereabouts of Byron, the firsts for Mete and Suzuki, and the general dramatic opera that the Montreal fanbase is known for. Have a listen! We're happy to be back! October 21, 2019.
It's finally here! The season starts with the Habs on the road against the Carolina Hurricanes in what was a VERY entertaining 65+ minutes of hockey! This time it was only Veronica and Dave around to talk Habs, but they go over the opening roster, some surprises during the game, and a bit of a surprise in Laval. Aside from that, Dave's rancor towards Carolina is in full swing before his vacation. That means there will be no new Habby Hour episodes until (we think) October 21! Keep an eye on our Twitter feed @HabbyHour and send us some emails! Be it questions, complaints, fan mail, whatever, send it to firstname.lastname@example.org! October 3, 2019.
Operating on a modified schedule the Habby Hour brings you the conclusion of the preseason! One that shows the Habs finishing it with a positive record on this Saturday night. We talk a little bit about the games in the past week but mostly we focus on the last game of the preseason against the Senators. Aside from the games, we have some thoughts on some suspect media coverage from the usual suspects, and some updates to the podcast for the coming weeks! As has been mentioned, David will be traveling to Japan so he will not be able to produce the podcast! That means the next two weeks will have NO episodes! Sorry! But, please take a look at the Twitter account (@HabbyHour) for other ways that Veronica and Beth will be in touch and engaging with the listeners! September 28, 2019.
Hey, guess what... The Habs are (almost) playing real hockey! We have three (THREE) pre-season games to talk about on this episode of the Habby Hour. But, more than just the games we finally get a look at the different squads that the Habs have put together. And aren't they impressive! To help us break down some of the good stuff we've seen this week, we had TSN690's Simon Tsalikis on with us! He gave us his thoughts on more than a few players. Will Poehling AND Suzuki make it onto the opening night roster for the Habs? Listen to get our thoughts! We also have another player of the week in one Charles Hudon! September 19, 2019.
The past week brought us a slew of new Habs stuff to talk about since the season is (almost) here! The past weekend had the Habs rookies squaring off against other rookies at the Rookie Showcase in Belleville, and David takes some time to talk about that while the rest of this week's episode focused on the golf tournament, some of the radio chatter today, and a look at Kotkaniemi's summer regime back in Finland! We also take a dive into the playing career of Brett Kulak! September 12, 2019.
Just as the name says, the Habs are coming back from Montreal! Training camp is upon us! The Rookie Tournament is this weekend! Preseason is less than two weeks away! And??? The regular season is less than a month away! The Habs have been busy! Some of the team actually hit the ice this morning with a practice, and there were some interesting names to mention! We dive into that, the updated app for the Habs, and the interesting relationship between hockey teams and their star players. Does promoting a personality matter more than promoting the team? How does the NHL compare to the other big markets? And, finally, we have a brief talk about Mike Reilly! Jr.! September 5, 2019.
We get sprinkles for weeks, then all of a sudden a deluge of news! So much that he didn't get to cover it all! Despite that, we had some exclusive insight from John Lu of TSN! He gave us a few thoughts on Jonathan Drouin's upcoming season, Claude Julien's remarks at Drouin's golf tourney, and some Heavy Metal talking points! Aside from that, our player of the week is none other than Jeff Petry, does Veronica have a bone to pick with him? Listen to find out! August 29, 2019.
The trio is back at it this week with your Habs news! Will the boys ever leave Lehkonen alone? What's this about Teasdale? The Petrys did WHAT? Lehky LOVES Pleky! Sweet Baby Eagle misses hockey and there are some talented fans among the Habs base! All this, and excessive talk of travel plans for the Habby Hour this upcoming season! Montreal? Vancouver? Florida?? Find out if we end up near you! All this, and more, in this week's episode! August 22, 2019.
Veronica is back! And we have a guest join us! Sean Campbell from TSN690 joins us on the podcast from a brewery to talk Habs hockey with us. We concentrated mostly on the d-corps, but also veered into other areas as well, like, the Atlanta Thrashers??? A lot of content about Weber (obviously), some updates on Plekanec, and also a little bit on Suzuki! There is also some words said about our dearly beloved Dutch Gretzky. All that and more on this week's episode! August 15, 2019.
We're back! Unfortunately Veronica was not able to join us, but we did have a guest! Calling in all the way from the United Kingdom was Caitlin Berry! She is an ardent follower of the prospect pools around the league, keeping tabs on the upcoming draft, and beyond! She shared her insights on the recent Summer Showcase and the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. Can you name who stood out to her? Listen to find out! August 8, 2019.
Ever wanted to know a bit more about Jordan Weal? This is the episode to listen to! We highlight him as our player of the week, and talk about the sole piece of news to come out of Habs land as another player is signed! We take some time to talk about the Kraft Hockeyville game that the Habs are taking part in once the season gets under way, but for the most part? The off season is definitely here! Have you ever been curious about our eating habits? Listen in! July 25, 2019.
Another week has passed in free agency and despite us mentioning it on Twitter, there was ZERO movement from the Habs! So, what did we end up talking about? Some supposed drama between JJD and Alzner, the coaching staff in general, what the absence of Shaw means for the Habs, but most importantly... Our player of the week! None other than Jesperi Kotkaniemi! July 18, 2019.
Nothing happened! Then Twitter went down! And then??? The Habs Finnished. Two players were signed for contracts today, leaving only another couple of RFAs to sort out before the start of the season. We can be sure that this is not the last of Bergevin's moves as the off season continues. We discuss this, and, disclaimer, a LOT else that doesn't have anything to do with hockey! The dog days of the off season have come, so prepare for a lot more than hockey in this episode of the Habby Hour! July 11, 2019.
It's the first week of free agency and WHAT a week the Habs had! For better or for worse, depending on how you're getting your information! Some Habs have left, and new Habs came in, all of which pales in comparison over the main story of the week with Sebastian Aho. Listen in to hear our takes on (most?) of the deals that the Habs made so far this week! July 5th, 2019.
With the draft behind us we can all start looking forward to the camps during the summer, and eventually, a new season of Habs hockey! As such, this is the beginning of the third season of the Habby Hour and we start it off with a guest in Sean Gordon! One of the gifted writers from The Athletic, Mr. Gordon shares some of his insights on the draft and some behind the scenes moments in Vancouver. We also talk about the recent development camp for the new players, the current state of hockey, and if there's any meat to the rumors surrounding Duchene's visit to Montreal. All this and more in this episode of the Habby Hour! June 27, 2019.
Welcome to the season finale! This is our second episode this week and we wanted to bring on an expert regarding the draft. Thankfully, Grant McCagg was able to accommodate us! He is a former scout for the Montreal Canadiens and the head of Recrutes.ca where he sells his draft guide to the needy masses! Mr. McCagg took our questions and gave us some much needed insight on the draft and his opinions on some of the players currently on the roster. That and we bemoaned AirBnb! June 20, 2019.
As mentioned on Twitter the Habby Hour will be releasing two episodes this week, and we have special guests for each one! The first guest for the week is a staple of the Montreal Canadiens' presence at home. The experience would simply be not the same without him. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the podcast, and has some interesting thoughts on the trajectory of the team! The voice of the Montreal Canadiens, Michel Lacroix! June 19,2019.
Welcome back contestants! I mean... Listeners! As mentioned on Twitter, we were going to do something a bit different with this episode, and given the recent Jeopardy! craze, we decided to make a Jeopardy! themed episode! Beth, Dave, and Veronica show their Habs trivia mettle with Ashley supervising the madness. Who will win? Listen to find out! We also had some time to talk about a new signing for the Habs, the sparkling new spooky trade rumor floating around, and even had time for our player of the week... Matthew Peca! June 14, 2019.
You wanted to hear about Erik Karlsson? Well we TALK about Erik Karlsson! Does he want to come to the Habs? Would he be a good fit with the Habs? Can he play on the left with Weber on the right? Does any of it MATTER? We discuss that, as well as some other guy named Matt Duchene who might also be maybe interested in possibly playing in Montreal. Some off season activities were had by some of the Habs and we dive into that, give an update on Niemi and we wrap it all up by talking about our player of the week... Jordie Benn! June 6, 2019.
Hey! Screw you, Pierre! But, no, seriously, we love you. Anyway, in this episode of the Habby Hour we explore all of the contracts that were signed in the last week! There was action both at the NHL level and at the AHL level, while the a certain newly minted Memorial Cup champion and tournament MVP just happens to be a Hab! We cap it all off with us gushing over our 2018-2019 points leader... Max! Domi! May 30, 2019.
So, what happened this week?? Not a whole lot when it comes to the Habs! We touch on the IIHF, the amazing Memorial Cup run for the Guelph Storm, and Sesame Street! We also cast a bit of a hopeful, yet, skeptical eye upon the new standard game time that the Habs are promising their fans and then the possibility of trading for a player like Phil Kessel! We conclude the episode with our next player of the week... Carey Price. May 23, 2019.
We here at the Habby Hour always endeavor to give you Habs news as it comes, and to give you our thoughts on this news! However, when there's a lack of news, episodes like these happen! Despite this, we do gather some thoughts in regards to Peter Budaj's retirement, Michel Therrien's hiring by the Flyers, Boston's success in the playoffs, the woes of Slovakia in the IIHF, Team Canada's surprising power play prowess, and we cap this all with a blurb about Brendan Gallagher! And there's a ton else in this one that isn't quite about hockey. May 16th, 2019.
How about that Nick Suzuki, huh?? We get as much info as we can about the Habs in this past week together for you and the Guelph Storm are a big part of it! Tomas Tatar continues his campaign overseas in the IIHF tournament. We get into some of the more salacious discussions on Twitter this week dealing with the players that do and do not go to play in the tournament, and we also address those rumors of a possible PK return to Montreal. Aside from that we also have a new Hab! And we top it off with giving some time to talk about L'Artiste, Artturi Lehkonen!
So how much stuff can we cram into an hour? Well, listen and find out! We found out about an minor injury to Jonathon Drouin, another Hab was signed, the coverage of the Leaves was justified (sorta), the women of hockey take a stand, Max Domi is getting lessons, the kids are doing good in the junior leagues, Dale Weise adds a couple and Price got himself a tattoo! We also highlight the exploits of Victor Mete in this episode! May 4th, 2019.
The playoffs, and the off season, continue! A good, decent portion of this episode is dedicated to the Toronto Maple Leafs losing in the first round, again, to the Boston Bruins! We here at the Habby Hour have a 'bit' of a bias against the Leafs, but it may not be for the reason you think! Or, at least, not the only reason why you think! After we revel in their misery, we move on to the Habs! Who had surgery, who was signed, who do the Habs want to keep, and who is representing their country at Worlds? Find that out, and our thoughts on Jonathan Drouin on this episode! (April 25th, 2019)
How is everyone's brackets looking?? Dave can tell you that his is absolutely... BAD. We talk only a little bit about the craziness of the first round of the playoffs, and then we get right back into the swing of things with the Habs! We had a signing the day that we recorded! We also talk about Nick Suzuki's OHL playoffs, Max Domi's trophy nomination, the Rocket's end of season, but most importantly? We talk about Tomas... TATAR! Have a listen! April 18th, 2019.
The first week of the off season has started, with all of us watching the playoffs and looking at what may come in the future with the Habs! Tonight we were without Veronica, so David and Beth go over some of the latest Habs and hockey news! The Habs' postmortem was front and center, but a major topic was the folding of the CWHL, and the aftermath of what's going on for women's hockey. We also highlighted some of what was said about Drouin, some unlikely statistics with the power play, and we wrapped up with a tip of the hat to Phillip Danault! April 13th, 2019.
This was it, the last game of the season against the Toronto Maple Leafs, who have been nothing but trouble for us for the past two years! However, tonight they had to deal with our 1st Round pick from the 2017 draft... Ryan Poehling. And he made QUITE the night for himself! This was also the last game that Bob Cole would be calling, and what a fitting end to a legendary career! We talk about the game, the off season, and what a bright future our boys have with the bleu, blanc, rouge! There is also a fair amount of singing in this one... (April 6th, 2019)
The playoff race is still on despite what many may think! The Habby Hour crew go over the most recent game against Columbus and where the Habs are in the standings. We also go over some of the recent news that we haven't been able to talk about yet in regards to Shaw, Price, and Tatar. We also take a big chunk of the episode dedicated to Dave's experiences at the Fantasy Camp! He goes over each day of the amazing camp with us! This is our longest episode so far! Listen! March 28th, 2019.
Hi! It's another Dave and Veronica episode and they talk about the recent woes with the Habs! It seems as if the Habs have not been playing to their strengths the past 2 or 3 weeks, and we talk about why that may be! Also, what's the playoff picture look like for the Habs? Is there a chance to make it in still? What else does Shaw have to do to motivate the team. And David is doing WHAT this weekend??? Have a listen and find out about all of this and more! March 19th, 2019.
It's our birthday! Sorta. On March 10th, 2018 we recorded the first episode of the Habby Hour which came at the tail end of one of the most disastrous seasons in the history of the Montreal Canadiens. Now? Things are looking up! In order to further commemorate the occasion, Ashley (and Angus) were able to join us! With the original crew back together we spent most of the episode reminiscing on the past year, where the Habs were, where they are now, and a bit of the recent news. Of course, the western road trip has been concluded, and it did not yield the results that many were hoping for. And it is these things, and more, that we talk about in this episode! March 11th, 2019.
This is our 50th episode! The 'dreaded' western road trip has started after games in New York and Pittsburgh! The Habs took on the Kings in LA, and it marked the first game where Kotkaniemi was a scratch. This meant that we were able to get a glimpse of Jordan Weal, and what he brought to the game against LA. To say the least, it was quite a game! Veronica and Dave host the episode since Beth was unfortunately held up. However, we were lucky to be joined by none other then TSN690's own Dan Robertson! He shared his times and experiences as a broadcaster, and his thoughts on the Habs with us! March 6th, 2019.
Pretty quick turnaround for episodes! In this one we only have Dave and Veronica talking about two games that come on a back to back! The Devils, and (oh boy) the Red Wings! We also address some concerns with Shea Weber, and what may be causing the slip in game. Aside from that we finally got a look at the new guy, Folin, on the blue line and a few other things! February 26th, 2019.
There will be episodes like this! The crew cope with the recent game against the Leafs, and also go over the previous 4 games before hand. It has been said before! Despite everything, the Habs are in a much better position than they were expected to be, and that's enough to keep us excited! February 23rd, 2019
How much fun do we have? So much fun! With only one game to talk about in this episode we went far and wide in our Habs topics, most notably the philanthropic efforts that the Habs and all athletes strive to do and what it means to the game, and most importantly, the fans. Veronica and Beth take the reigns in talking about the game in this chuckle worthy episode! February 15th, 2019.
We want to thank everyone that was able to make it to the meetup before the game on Saturday against the Leaves! It definitely made the weekend all the more memorable! Dave and Beth were in Montreal and Laval for the Rocket game on Friday and then the Habs game on Saturday, and do we have stories to tell! Also, we catch up on the rest of the week's news, especially one VERY important trade! February 10th, 2019.
After what seemed like an ETERNITY... The Habs are, really, back! We recap the game against the Devils while talking about some of the stuff that went on over the break. Which, honestly, wasn't a whole lot aside from some contract juggling on the management side. As is custom though, Dave has a rant about the refs, Beth sings, and Veronica looooves Shea Weber! All that and more! February 2nd, 2019.
The All Star Break begins and the Habs find themselves in a playoff spot! We go over the last two games since the previous episode, notably against Philly and Arizona, and aside from that? We had a whole lot to say about Poile! The All Star Game! Bettmen! And so much more! And, if you follow us on Twitter you know that Veronica kinda blew our MINDS with what she said at the end of the episode! January 25th, 2019.
We're back with another post game episode! For this we go over the games against the Blues, the Avs, the Broons, the Panthers and the Blue Jackets! 2019 started a little weird for the Habs but it looks like they're taking the playoff push pretty seriously. We talk about this, Paul Byron's suspension, our Sweet Baby Eagle, Carey Price and so much more! Dave loses his temper about the NHL Player Safety people! January 18th, 2019.
We're back with a Wednesday night episode and only two games to talk about! The tilts against the dreaded Wild and the Red Wings! One game went much better than the other, but even if one game was harder, there were pretty good reasons as to why. We talk about that, Shea Weber, Joel Armia, Shea Weber, FINALLY give due diligence to the World Junior Championships and Beth and Dave have a bit of an announcement! Find out what in this episode! January 9th, 2019.
The first episode of 2019! This one was a free wheeling episode that focused, primarily, on the performance that the Habs put up against the Predators the night of the recording. Which, of course, eventually leads to the discussion of PK Subban. From there, we wheel ourselves around the latest Habs news of the week, a sprinkle of the World Juniors, and even a shout out to a recently departed yet well loved Hab! Unfortunately, we also had some somber news to share in regards to the Habby Hour. Nothing too bad, we promise! January 5th, 2019.
We are back! The delay was all Dave's fault, of course, since he was in Vegas and did he EVER have a story to share with everyone! We also talk about the game against Panthers, a bit about the World Juniors where the Habs are WELL represented, and of course the birth of the CHILD. And who's child? Well, unless you've been living under a rock you ought to know! If not, we got'cha covered! December 28th, 2018.
Can, you, BELIEVE IT??? Tune in as the gang (minus one!) talk about the call heard around the league! We have seen our fair share of bad calls in the NHL this season, and in other seasons, but we were pretty sure that this one, tonight, was perhaps the worst! Aside from that, we talked about the four tilts that the Habs had this week, as well as yet another waiver wire player, and the team's special trip to see some brave children! December 15th, 2018.
What a week! The return of Shea Weber and Paul Byron has been paying dividends on both ends of the ice, especially given the results in the past 4 games. The Drouin-Domi partnership seems to be blossoming very well, Price is looking like the Price we all know, and there is a new addition to the Habs family! Have a listen to this, and more! December 6th, 2018.
Did you hear? Shea Weber is back! And, not only that but another Hab may be coming back into the lineup this weekend! We also talk about the most recent game against Carolina, how the power play is doing (yikes!), some prospect talk, and quite a bit about the AHL since there has been some movement between the big club and the farm. Think Bergevin humbled himself? Well, hear our take! November 29th, 2018.
Bit of a rough week for our beloved Habs! The injury bug is starting to take its toll and the team has been looking to the reserves to try and fill in roster spots. This week we talk about the games against the Canucks, Capitals, Devils, and the Sabres. We also go on, maybe, too long a tangent about field trip songs and what, exactly, Dave and his mother listened to on their way to night skiing! November 23rd, 2018.
And we're back! It's been two weeks since we recorded an episode, but everyone was able to figure out a night and now we are back on track! We do our best to comb over the Habs news of the past week which include Veronica and Dave's night in Montreal, the retirement of Plekanec, Schlemko coming back into the lineup, the injury to Armia, and of course, the pending return of our captain, Shea Weber. November 16th, 2018.
The first month of Habs hockey is under our belt, and wouldn't you say that we're doing a bit better now? The hosts talk about this week's past games against the Bruins, Stars, and the Stanley Cup Champs the Caps, with quite a bit of emphasis on the Caps game, for some reason! We also put a good deal of time into Max Domi's emergence, and also, our beloved Sweet Baby Eagle! November 2nd, 2018.
Well, that was a tough loss! But, it's okay! And this episode does its best to explain why! Aside from this game, the Habby Hour crew give a ton of love to Max Domi, and of course, our beloved Eagle, Jesperi Kotkaniemi! Aside from that, we vent our frustrations about the officiating in the NHL which can be summed up nicely in one word... Why? October 25th, 2018.
We're going streaking! The Habs win their third straight game against the St. Louis Blues. But, since our last recording, they also picked up wins against the Pens (again lol) and the Red Wings. All of the games were good showings from the Bleu Blanc Rouge, and we even got to fit in our usual flaming and other bits of news with the Habs! Have a listen! October 17th, 2018.
Three games into the season and one shutout loss means that the team should be shook up! We at the Habby Hour disrespectfully disagree! Listen here to hear why while we go over the shutout loss against the Kings and the MUCH more fun win against the Pens last weekend. We also talk about Kotkaniemi's continued good play, some line changes at practice, and some players that might be coming back from injury! October 12th, 2018.
The season is finally here! Listen in as the Habby Hour do a bit of a post game for the 3-2 loss against he Toronto Maple Leaves. Which, honestly, became a Kotkaniemi gush-fest because can you REALLY blame us?? We talk about the game, some of the new Habs players, and a CERTAIN new captain! October 3rd, 2018.
This one is a bit of a rambler! Poor Ashley had to drop out of recording so she is not with us in this episode, but we still talked that Habs hockey! We talked about the 3 most recent preseason games against Ottawa and the two tilts against Toronto and just how GOOD the kids look! Again, Kotkaniemi is a big topic of conversation, as well as the cuts from training camp so far! All this and more! September 27th, 2018.
We have some 'almost' real Habs hockey to talk about tonight! But there was a ton else to go over as well, like the Karlsson trade! We finally put our two cents in about that trade, and the we go into each of the preseason games so far. Who did well? Who didn't? All that and more on this episode! September 22nd, 2018.
It has finally happened, the trade that has been rumored for months, Max Pacioretty is now a Golden Knight! Listen in as the Habby Hour gang go over the trade, the rookie tournament, some new QA and more! September 11th, 2018.
Ashley returns in tonight's episode! We spend more time talking about the Walsh/Patches situation and what it could mean for Montreal's season, yet another golf tournament, how players are doing this summer, the rookie tournament, and other VERY silly things! September 6th, 2018.
