By Hannah Turk

My everyday life with little ones. Sharing the sweet...and not so sweet...moments of my every day. I want to be able to reflect and grow through these years, and help other moms do the same. So I hope others will join me as we do this mom thing together, a day at a time.

Episode 56: Figuring Out Summer

Episode 56: Figuring Out Summer

- The Busy Toddler Summer Bucket List is a great place to start to look for those fun once (or more) a week activities. The types of activities and prep needed to do them varies, making it perfect for all kinds of kids and all kinds of moms!

- Tonight's dinner is Instant Pot Beef and Broccoli. It is paleo, Whole30, GF, DF, in the Instant Pot, quick, and easy. I'm hoping that splurging on the 'nice' beef will make it an extra yummy dinner for all of us! The meal plan for the rest of the week is here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plans.

- The book we've all been enjoying in the last week is Stuck by Oliver Jeffers. It's a cute (and hilarious) story of a little boy who gets his kite stuck up in a tree and tries throwing up all sorts of things to get it down. I wouldn't say there is any sort of message to the book, but it is still such a delightful read. There is also a card deck to play Go Fish with that has all of the illustrations on it! We've really enjoyed the combination of those things in our house lately.

- Do you want to sit down with me for a chat (with mics on)? I'd love to get to know you better and learn your story...teach me all your tips and tricks, and better yet share them with everyone! Reach out to me via email or Instagram and let me know if you're up for it.

- Listener Survey has been revamped, and needs your help to be filled out! Let me know what YOU want to hear!

- Don't forget to share the podcast, and leave a review wherever you listen. I'm so excited to grow our community together! Tag @adayatatimepodcast in your shares so I can see where and how you're listening.

Episode 55: Keeping Them Alive

Episode 55: Keeping Them Alive

- Tonight's dinner is Pesto Chicken and Veggies. I made it last week and *almost* everyone ate it, so I'm using up the ingredients making it again this week. The meal plan for the rest of the week is here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plans.

- In the last week both kids have been OBSESSED with Melissa and Doug Poke-A-Dot books...and I have been enjoying them too! The stories are almost secondary, but they have so many different ones to choose from that you can even still get one with a topic interesting to any kiddo. Highly recommend for interactive reading, counting (depending on the book), fine motor, and even cause and effect!

- Do you want to sit down with me for a chat (with mics on)? I'd love to get to know you better and learn your story...teach me all your tips and tricks, and better yet share them with everyone! Reach out to me via email or Instagram and let me know if you're up for it.

Episode 54: Figuring Out Birthday Parties

Episode 54: Figuring Out Birthday Parties

- Tonight's dinner is Enchilada Pasta, and I have a good feeling that everyone will like it...either the enchilada part, or the pasta part! The meal plan for the rest of the week is here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plans.

- This week we have had two books on repeat, one for each kid. For the little guy, Little Blue Truck is an everyday (multiple times a day) hit. For my Kiddo, Smoot: A Rebellious Shadow is both engaging and hilarious to her.

- Do you want to sit down with me for a chat (with mics on)? I'd love to get to know you better and learn your story...teach me all your tips and tricks, and better yet share them with everyone! Reach out to me via email or Instagram and let me know if you're up for it.

Episode 53: Average Days

- Tonight's dinner is Bruschetta Chicken, and there is no recipe link because I made it up! The meal plan for the rest of the week is here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plans.

- This week's book is The Moonkeeper, by Zosienka. An adorable picture book that introduces kids to phases of the moon, we have loved reading it over and over and doing extension activities to learn more.

- Do you want to sit down with me for a chat (with mics on)? I'd love to get to know you better and learn your story...teach me all your tips and tricks, and better yet share them with everyone! Reach out to me via email or Instagram and let me know if you're up for it.

Episode 52: The Perfect Mom, Part 2

Episode 52: The Perfect Mom, Part 2

- Diary of an Honest Mom is SO funny on Instagram, and real. It's comforting to know that I'm not the only one who struggles with normal things, or feels overwhelmed. Libby is a great one to laugh with about the real life of motherhood.

- Tonight's dinner is Picadillo, if I remember to get the crockpot going. Lucky for me it only needs 4 hours, which means I have until quiet time to get it started...extra points for a great dinner! The meal plan for the rest of the week is here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plans.

Episode 50: Coffee with...me!

- Tonight's dinner is Italian Sausage, Spinach (or kale), and Pasta, and it's just as easy as it sounds. Episode 49: Figuring Out: Kids & Food

Episode 49: Figuring Out: Kids & Food

- Growing Intuitive Eaters (Dr. Taylor Arnold) and Kids Eat In Color (Jennifer Anderson) are both great nutritional info on Instagram! Both are licensed, and have great data (and experience!) to back up everything they are sharing. I have felt really encouraged and empowered because of their content!

- These are the chopsticks my daughter has, except hers are pink/purple with a penguin on top (very important to her). I found them by chance at an international grocery store, and I'm so glad I got them!

- Tonight's dinner is Chicken Pot Pie, which will be my first time making a pot pie (even though I love them). Inspired by Pillsbury but perfected by listener Brianna, I consider this 'her' recipe. The meal plan for the rest of the week is here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plans.

Episode 48: Figuring Out Rainy Day Activities

Episode 48: Figuring Out Rainy Day Activities

- RecycleAndPlay is a great Instagram account with incredible activities and projects you can make using all kinds of 'trash' around your house.

- These MAGICAL markers are amazing! Nothing seems to kill them...hopefully they are the only markers you ever need to buy!

- This Melissa and Doug Paint-Your-Own Monster Truck is the one we (finally) finished the other day. There are also other Paint-Your-Own magnet sets from them too.

- WaterWow is entertaining for all ages, although how long it will take them will definitely vary. There are also SO many different options, definitely something for everyone!

- Capptivating Play (who has a killer Instagram @capptivatingplay) is my source of playdough kits, and she has new kits available! You could DIY the concept, but I really love being able to support a small business and have homemade playdough. Ours seems to be holding up so well!

- For sensory bins, we have Kinetic Sand, Water Beads, and pasta. I need to make more rainbow rice because it was BY FAR everyone's favorite...including my vacuum!

- Tonight's dinner is Maple Glazed Salmon, inspired by my daughter saying she no longer likes salmon. This is my attempt to put a sweet spin on it and hopefully entice her! The meal plan for the rest of the week is here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plans.

- Do you want to sit down with me for a chat (with mics on)? I'd love to get to know you better and learn your story...teach me all your tips and tricks, and better yet share them with everyone! Reach out to me via email or Instagram and let me know if you're up for it.

Episode 47: Learning To Rest

- Tonight's dinner is Chickpea Korma, shared by Doreen. It seems like it's going to be super easy and fast (and of course tasty), and it's also vegan! I love trying new kinds of meals for our family.

Episode 45: Mom Fashion

Episode 45: Mom Fashion

- Tonight's dinner is Taco Rice Bowls from...my family! It's just all the fixings for tacos, but with rice as your base and eaten out of a bowl. It's a great way to feed a crowd, or to just have a lot of leftovers. The meal plan for the rest of the week is here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plans.

Episode 44: Figuring Out Preschool Activities

Episode 44: Figuring Out Preschool Activities

- Tonight's dinner is Chicken Tikka Masala from Skinnytaste. It's gluten free, dairy free, and SO easy to make! Curry meals are always my quick and easy dinners, especially in the Instant Pot. The meal plan for the rest of the week is here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plans.

- Some Instagram follows I really recommend for idea, resources, and just all around joy: MotherCould (for simple, easy, cheap activities and sensory play...also just a fun follow), BringingUpBabe (Montessori-style, real-world skills, and quality toy/activity recommendations), 7DaysofPlay (TONS of activity ideas), WalkTalkPlay (developmentally-informed play), and BigLittleFeelings (social-emotional learning, behavior resources).

Episode 43: Social Media

Episode 43: Social Media

- Tonight's dinner is Smoky Black Bean Soup from Budget Bytes. It's gluten free, dairy free, and vegan, and you can make it quick and easy on the stove...it really does check all the boxes! The meal plan for the rest of the week is here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plans.

- As someone who does live far from family, I totally understand the pull of social media to be able to share pictures and daily moments with those who aren't nearby. I've used Tinybeans for nearly 4 years (although I've fallen off on consistency lately, oops) and it has been really great! You invite others via email and post pictures/videos with captions. I really like that I can quickly and easily go back through time and pinpoint when things happened in our family or for my kids. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to help family and friends stay in the know of your daily life without the pull of social media!

- Do you want to sit down with me for a chat (with mics on)? I'd love to get to know you better and learn your story...teach me all your tips and tricks, and better yet share them with everyone! Reach out to me via email or Instagram and let me know if you're up for it.

Episode 42: Figuring Out Traveling With Kids

Episode 42: Figuring Out Traveling With Kids

- The Slumberpod has saved our butts when it comes to sleep on the go! Both kids have used it successfully, and we've had friends use it at our house when they come to visit for the day. Depending on the kind of sleeper your kid is, it could be perfect for you!

- The Toniebox is worth it's (light) weight in gold! Not just for the car, but for all day, every day. Fostering independence while still being able to listen to her own music and stories is just...magical. For ALL of us! The creative tonie is my personal favorite, and I switch out what songs and stories are on it to keep her current favorites available to her whenever she wants. I cannot recommend it enough! Use THIS link to get $15 off your first purchase (and I'll get $15 too!).

-Tonight's dinner is Chicken Enchilada Soup from Skinnytaste, and you can make it in the Instant Pot or crockpot (and I'm sure you could just make it on the stove). The meal plan for the rest of the week is here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plans.

Episode 41: Coffee With Chelsie

- I'm so excited to talk to Chelsie with you today! Here is a picture of her with her beautiful family...her husband Keith, 3.5 year old daughter Violet, and 11 month old daughter Willow.

- Willow was born with VACTRL Association and is also Hard of Hearing (unrelated). Thankfully she doesn't have all of the symptoms associated with VACTRL, and most were able to be rectified by surgery in her first year of life. Now that she is more or less over the big physical hump, she is learning and growing (and sassy) with the best of them!

A Funny Story...

A Funny Story...

Due to my inability to plan ahead (as I've demonstrated with meals many times), today's episode will need to be tomorrow's episode. But in the meantime, please enjoy a formative story from my childhood that led me to question food my mother puts in front of me.

Psst! I didn't mention it in this quick clip, but dinner tonight is Turkey Teriyaki Rice Bowls. A friend mentioned that she uses them as her 'easy' dinner, and I definitely had to check that out, you know? The link for this week's meal plan is here!

Tomorrow's episode will be about Valentine's Day! Do you have thoughts on it? Big fan, or Valen-grinch? Let me know! Message me on Instagram @adayatatimepodcast, and maybe I'll mention it on the show!

-Tonight's dinner is Garlic Noodles with Beef and Broccoli...definitely outside my usual style! The meal plan for the rest of the week is here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plans.

- This TedX talk by Daryl Davis is an incredible story of one man's experiences overcoming racism through relationship. He took a big chance, and his story is one that could have ended very differently, but thankfully it is instead a picture of what is possible when we view 'others' as people, with histories and fears, capable of change.

Episode 33: Figuring Out Budgets

-If you were still thinking about getting *THE* planner (Passionate Penny Pincher Home Planner), check it out! It is on sale, but when it's gone it's gone...and probably soon! You can still get the digital version anytime, but don't we all agree that there is just something about having actual pages to write on, and checkboxes to mark off? I'm still 100% in love with it, and recommend it!
-Tonight's dinner is Mississippi Pot Roast, from the awesome Madison of Why In The Workforce! Check her out on Instagram, and her show on messy.fm, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts! The meal plan for the rest of the week is here, or at

Episode 29: Intentional Shopping

Episode 29: Intentional Shopping

- Mercari.com is a resell and secondhand site that I really love! Obviously for gift giving you need to be a little more discriminating, but for our family it has been a big win! Full disclosure, the link is a referral link, so I get a small credit if you do choose to sign up and buy anything, but I love this website and use it all the time, I would recommend it no matter what!

- I use multiple apps to look into a company or product before I buy, so I can know how I am 'voting' and if it aligns with my values. Good On You is an app that rates clothing and accessory companies based on their environmental impact, as well as their ethics in labor and animals. It is a good place to start, but their rating is only as good as their database...I've run into a couple companies that rated low in ethical labor, although I know that they ensure a fair and living wage to their workers. Fortunately they do admit when their rating is based on incomplete information!

- HowGood is like Good On You, but for food. Seeing how a company or product rates is broken down into so many steps, from planting to selling. Really helpful for finding fair trade items!

- Goods Unite Us is a resource that tells where companies (and important figures within those companies) spend their money on political campaigns. Their database is huge and very detailed!

- Although the app is not the most flashy, Black Nation is a good resource when looking for Black owned small businesses. It is not an exhaustive list, but if you are searching primarily by category than it is a great starting point!

- Dinner tonight is Rosemary Garlic White Bean Soup from BudgetBytes.com. I'm loving this new recipe resource, and I'm sure I'll love this super easy soup! The rest of the meals for the whole week are here, or at adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plan.

Episode 28: Figuring Out Planners

Episode 28: Figuring Out Planners

- If you use a planner, post a picture and tag me, @adayatatimepodcast, or send me a pic! I LOVE planners, and I'm always looking for new ones that friends recommend!
- The planner I'll be using for 2021 (and have already started using) is the Passionate Penny Pincher's Home Planner. I can't gush about it enough, although I probably did in the show. It's on sale right now, but I suspect it may drop even more on Black Friday. It also gives you access to digital content and a FB community!
- In the past, I've used Panda Planner Pro. There were aspects of it that I really enjoyed, like lots of space and intentional reflection, but getting the daily one was incredibly overwhelming for the season of life I was in. A more realistic one for me would have been the Weekly, but there are other options as well! In general, my life isn't run by a clock, so planners with spots for a schedule by the clock don't fit my needs right now.
- Clean Mama's Homekeeping Planner is one I've looked at in the past, but was a little pricey and I didn't think I'd stick to her routine (know thyself, right?). I do follow her on Instagram though, and she really has great tips and a routine that can help with getting cleaning done quickly and regularly! Maybe after I've gone a year of regular cleaning, I'll be ready for the big leagues in 2022!
- Cultivate What Matters' Powersheets. Another pricey one, but a friend swears by it. It seems to be more goal-orientated and motivational, which isn't the stage of life I'm at right now, but I'm keeping it in mind for possibly in the future. There was a sale not too long ago, and I have a feeling they will be doing Black Friday sales as well. There are some other good resources...notebooks and such...on their website, some of which I'm Christmas-ing to myself!
- Dinner tonight is Creamy Cajun Chicken Pasta, which are totally worth the time and effort (in my opinion). The rest of the meals for the whole week are here, or at
adayatatimepodcast.com/meal-plan.

Show Notes

- The video for a job interview for #worldstoughestjob...spoiler, it's our job.

- This is the conversation I was referring to about having glass and plastic balls. The author Nora Roberts is the one that talked about it, and I really like the breakdown.

- I also really like these thoughts about what the author considers to be glass balls, and what happens when (gasp!) we drop one.

Some of my favorite fair trade brands are Endangered Species, Alter Eco, and Theo! Cocoa Dolce, based in Kansas, is one I'm dying to try...maybe I'll ship some to the east coast for a special occasion!

- Bruschetta Chicken is just chicken marinated in Trader Joe's Bruschetta and then baked...one of the easiest dinners (as long as I remember to make a side). No recipe for that, but here are the meals for the week!

- Check out the listener survey here. I'd really appreciate your help in making the show the best it can be! Also, here is the website...feedback appreciated, even if it is a little bare bones right now.

- Channeling the tastes of Brazil with Brazilian Chicken and Rice...hopefully it turns out so that my sister in law would be proud! Also, here is the Brazilian Limeade I made earlier this week. It's a perfect summer treat! And, of course, the rest of the week's meals.
- After a little Googling, I think these yoga poses are exactly what my back is looking for. And these stretches from Parents magazine tell you exactly what part of 'mom-ing' you are targeting with each one!
- This isn't the exact Instagram post I'm referencing, but it is a similar message and concept. I tried to find the OG, but it's been 3 years!
