Mondo Midnight Movies is more than just a cult film podcast. It is the show that delves into the lesser known and loved movies in the outer fringes of cinema. For every big dog crossover title like Rocky Horror or Pink Flamingos, there are several that remain on the bench, never quiet being called down to the floor. Until now.
This show as an idea was created by Mike "McBeardo" McPadden, Heather Drain, and Benjamin Reiser. Sadly, Mike left this plane of existence in 2020, before we could ever record a full episode. We had settled on a list of films for us to cover for the first handful of shows, with Alex Cox's anarchic 1987 western-musical, Straight to Hell being the title to start the show off. We got as far as Mike netting a fantastic interview with Cox, which luckily Benjamin had access to. It is thanks to him, as well as the great Bill Ackerman, that this episode, which is both a tribute to Alex Cox and Mike, exists. I hope we did both men justice. (I like to think we did!)
This episode of Mondo Midnight Movies is hosted by Bill Ackerman from the Supporting Characters podcast and Heather Drain, with Benjamin Reiser as our editor and orchestrator a-go-go.
