By Helen Sustarich
Where we talk about life, honestly. The biggest left turn Society has taken was when we stopped having genuine conversation and I've volunteered as tribute to change that. There is no limit to the conversation only endless opportunities for learning, evolving, and embracing. I'm super excited for this dope journey and even more excited for the memories we'll make through every conversation. So be open minded during these talks and understand, I am just a Blagical Woman out here making the most out of the life I was given.

Talking Life Honestly: Experience with Women in Leadership
Let me start off with this: the beauty of the HH Podcast is that she goes in whatever direction feels right! As we start off the conversation with dusting off cobwebs 😂, I get to talk to my girl Sara (who is also a baker, make sure you follow her at @ceilidh_Bakes) about women in leadership, specific to our personal experiences. I enjoyed the fluidity of this episode as we talked about our work, little sh*t talking, and what we think the key ingredients to being a leader looks like. As I grow in my career, I hope to revisit this conversation and add some real meat to it (stay withcha girl 😉). I hope you enjoy this laid back convo and enjoy the gems that were dropped!

Talking Life Honestly: The Simple Things
SEASON 4 IS HERE!!! To start us off you get a solo recording of me talking about the pleasures of enjoying the simple things that life bring me. These past few weeks have been an enlightening time for me and the subject matter felt like one we needed to talk about. Life can be complicated fro outside forces, I don't want to add tot that myself and the older I get the more I realize simplicity IS the goal for me. Simplicity makes me happy. I hope you enjoy this episode and take the time today to enjoy something simple that makes you happy. ❤️

Talking Life Honestly: Getting to know Helen
THE LAST EPISODE OF SEASON THREE! Whew, can you believe we even made it to THREE seasons, ALREADY?? Me neither! This episode is a little different because the guest is ME! Hahah, i thought it would be different for the Podcast if I did a solo episode and a part of me, liked it a lot so it may happen again. In this episode I talk a little more about me, how I got into Podcasting and of course, it wouldn't be a real Honestlyhelen episode if i didn't have some honest talk about a few random things along the way. I am hoping that you are able to just enjoy this episode as it plays in the background while you kick-ass at whatever it is you are doing. I appreciate your support, your listen, your share, comment, telling-a-friend-of-a-friend, I appreciate it all. Until, Season 4

Talking Life Honestly: Representation & Labels
We are in a world where everyone has an opinion, everyone has something to say about something (and rarely with solutions). In this episode I get to talk to my sister Priscilla about labels and talk a little about the pros and cons. The best gem she dropped in this episode and in my opinion should be the rule of thumb for sharing our opinions and that is the 5 second rule: if your 2-cent isn't something that someone can change within 5 seconds, is it something you need to vocalize? With Grocery stores being shot up, schools, nightclubs, churches, etc, over labels and stereotypes; we have got to do better as a people and as a Nation.

Talking Life Honestly: Black (man) Excellence
When it's good, it's good and this conversation was just that! As a woman, I view Black men through a certain lens, and even more so, as a woman raised by a single mother with a large family, I've had plenty of my own personal interactions with black men. And one thing I love to see is: a black man overcome more than his circumstances and become excellent and that is beautifully represented by my guy, Wanya (Wan-yay)! I will continue to sound like a broken record and say I love that my guest choose to come to these recordings and let themselves be truly honesty. This conversation takes such great turns into different gems of conversation that the topic is the topic but...isn't? Listen and let me know?! This World is hard, y'all, and really enjoying it, in my opinion means understanding that life is more than your struggle, more than your current obstacle, more than the negatives. It's enjoying the fruits of your labor, seeing the progress you've made from a space you thought you never could leave from. And for Black men specifically, you CAN and WILL overcome anything you truly put your mind too. I love y'all and hope you appreciate some of the gems that were dropped in this conversation and if nothing else, hope you enjoyed these good vibes, as always!

Talking Life Honestly: B+
"...a smile a day keeps the enemies away..." Another one for the books and this year I seemed to have a theme haha. On this episode I get to talk to the brother, David! In this episode, we talking B+ (I want you to listen to the episode to see where the idea for this topic came from!) and it was of course an honest one. This season has drilled in me that everything is a muscle, a skill, a tool, that we have to continue to refine every day if we so chose. Being positive takes intention and it takes practice. David and I have a nice little back and forth on the role that family plays as well. As always I think we got some good gems that we could all use, but if nothing else, enjoyed these good vibes! #blagical

Talking Life Honestly: Focus
Now, this one is a little longer and we have slight audio issues -- I promise it is still such a good listen! Now I am realizing the more I am on my own journey of Adulthood, I am enjoying here how others take on simple topics that we all take part in without giving much thought. This episode, with the fabulous, Bree, I get to talk Focus. This conversation was so fun because me and Bree come from two different generations and we agree on a lot still as well as having different views on things. The fun of it all was the chemistry with Bree and the genuine flow of conversation! One thing I can do is talk, however holding a conversation is always my favorite pastime. I really enjoyed recording and even editing this episode and so I hope you do too, but if nothing else, I hope you enjoyed these good vibes!

Talking Life Honestly: The Hustle
All my life I was surrounded by 'hustlers.' People who were chasing the coins to provide, to maintain a lifestyle, to survive, and so forth and so on. I rarely heard anyone talking about how toxic hustling can be. Or how there is a right way and a not so right way. American runs on money and it doesn't surprise me that a lot of Americans have a 'hustle' mentality. Or looking for quick ways to make money so ya know I had to speak on it just a little! It was so fun and enlightening to get to talk to the homie, Tommie, about his thoughts on hustling. We talk music, brands, King Crabs and more on this episode! Tommie dropped some gems in this episode that I think we all can apply but if nothing else, I hope y'all enjoy these good vibes! AND If you did enjoy the vibes, make sure you check out Tommie's brand (https://www.umblife.com) and show some love!

Talking Life Honestly: The Power of No
Conversations are an amazing tool if you allow it. If you haven't figured it out yet, ya girl likes to have preacher moments uninvited LOL and luckily, they are usually welcomed. This episode I got the pleasure of reconnecting with a girlfriend of mine from when I first moved to Cali and was enjoying my young tenda' 20s! I'm not sure who else ever wonders about how saying 'no' has power or the impact it has to not say no; it was a concept I had been thinking about for a few weeks and it was nice to be able to have an honest conversation with Lien! The more we understand that we set healthy boundaries not only for ourselves to be happy, it's to also be able to SHOW UP when we need to for those we love. There is a balance with everything though...is there not?

Talking Life Honestly: Finding Yourself
Whew, now this is a topic we all can relate to because we all have to go through it. On this episode I get to connect with a Middle School (yes, wild) classmate, Denzell, and we talk about Finding Yourself and what it looked like for us. Life shapes us through experiences, the people we meet, and even the things that we hear. Ultimately, it is up to us to navigate our way through all the BS to find out who we are in order to really live this thing called Life. There were some good gems dropped in this episode that I hope you were able to take away, however, if nothing else, I hope you enjoyed the good vibes :) Sidenote: apologies for any audio issues! It's one of those things where ya gotta decide do we have time to do ANOTHA ONE or we gotta make due with what we got cause what we got is still pretty good! Ya kno? Appreciate y'all for still rocking with me!

Talking Life Honestly: With the Cast of SoulSisters Reality Show
This episode for yall is a little different than our normal episode! For one, there are FOUR lovely women that I get to talk to and they are a part of this special Reality Show called SoulSister Reality (premiere date is Feb 23rd!) I always say the beauty of my podcast is the ability to have a space for honest conversations and on this episode we do that with multiple perspectives from women with a common goal: wanting to heal from their past traumas. We talk healing, friends, trauma, and everything in between. This episode is a little longer than the rest but I hope you are invested in the conversation as much as I was and if nothing else, enjoyed the good vibes. If you would like to follow any of the ladies that spoke tonight, please see their information below: Trishy Marie @trishymarie (IG) @soulsistersrealityshow (IG) @shoreshotcompany (IG) TrishyMarie (Twitter) Qimmah (Quah-mi-iah) @iamqimmahburgess (IG) @pillowtalkwiththeteapodcast (IG) @brownsugardivastalk (IG) PTWTTPodcast (Twitter) Sebrena @iam.sebrena (IG) @curvesbeauty_llc (IG) QueenSebrena (Twitter) Juhne @juhne_all_year (IG) @juhne.s_kitchen (IG) JuhneWheeler (Twitter)

Talking Life Honestly: Confidence
What does Confidence & Mosquito repellent have in common? Well I didn't know it either until I got to talking to my good girlfriend, Diehl! In this episode we talk confidence, the importance of it, maintaining it, and what we do when we feel low on our confidence. One thing is for sure: you have to work at it. It is not something that is freely given to anyone and it is definitely not something that is maintained alone or by hope. It takes work and sacrifice and let me tell you, ya girl has been working on it for as long as I can remember! As always, I hope you gained some gems of knowledge and if nothing else, enjoyed these good vibes!

Talking Life Honestly: Defining Soul-ties
Now listen, the beauty of this podcast is that I am always learning something new, expanding my point of view through different conversations with different people. This episode I think is a good example of that! Me and Destiny originally connected on this cool Podcast platform called PodMatch (which I had found a previous guest on for Season 2) and noticed that she had done her own episode on Soul-ties and I was intrigued to say the least. In this episode Destiny and I talk about defining soul-ties! Now listen, this still is a relatively new topic for me and so I loved learning more about this through some good keke's and haha's with Destiny! As always, I hope you hear some gem of information you did not know before and if nothing else, enjoyed the honest vibes!

Talking Life Honestly: Life Changes
Life, changes! Can I get an amen, or can I get an amen?! In this episode, I have the pleasure of talking to my good friend Jay about 'changes.' In life, every day is a day to experience something new, to explore uncharted territories, to experience change. We touch on career changes, life changes, even social media changes with a touch of some real honest conversation! I hope this is another episode you were able to learn something new or if nothing else, enjoy the good vibes!

You are not alone if the Festive Bug hasn’t hit you either! I am with you and it’s okay!! All we need to do is remember what matters: Us. Our mental health. Our physical health. Our happiness. Do what makes you feel good this Holiday Season even if it’s not Holiday related. Don’t get caught up in the superficial air that comes with Holidays. Be grateful. Be happy. Be intentional. Love y’all ❤️
December 24, 2021
Whew! I didn’t forget I said I would update y’all about the changes I implemented. I also go on a little ramble as I tend to do. ❤️🤣. I do want to send all the love and good vibes for this Holiday Season as well!!

Talking Life Honestly: Toxic Family
Ahhhhh! It's the LAST episode of Season 2!! I can't believe we made it (I mean I can, but damn!). To end the Season, I had to bring my sister back on to talk Toxic Family! Recording this episode made me realize any drama that *my* family had, revolved around money. The one thing we agree on is this: YOU have to decide who is toxic and then DECIDE to CUT THEM OFF. Cause who got time for the BS? Not Us. As always though, I hope you enjoy the last episode of Season 2 and if nothing else, enjoyed the vibes.
November 09, 2021
It’s November! Ahhhh! How did we get here?! Whew, time flies! As always, it’s a new month so y’all know I like to hop on here with a Shenanigans 😉

Talking Life Honestly: Financial Therapy
THIS is the topic we ALL need. When I tell y'all this Podcast has really brought people into my Life at the right time to share what they know with me. By now, y'all already know how I feel about my coins and so it was so dope to connect with Jenae and Marlon, owners of Financial Therapy LLC and talked the bidness (yes, that is intentional spelling). The beauty of it all, was to be able to have a fun and open conversation about it with some real tidbits of information in there. As always, I hope y'all learned something from this episode, but if nothing else, I hope you enjoyed the good vibes! If you would like to connect with Jenae and Marlon, please check out their website here-https://www.financialtherapyllc.com/

Talking Life Honestly: Adulting
Adulting. What is it? Tbh, none of us really know, yet, that doesn't stop me and my good sis Crystal from having a frank conversation about adulting. The funny thing is, one day your a child next thing we all know, boom! Adults. And then real adult life, haha. It's one of those things that me and Crystal talk a lot about in our daily conversations so it was so dope to finally getting around to record our thoughts to share with you all! I hope we shared some gems, good conversation, and if nothing else, these good vibes! And in the great words of Crystal, "be in the driver's seat of your life."
October 12, 2021
Oh my gosh! It’s October already!! I swear I don’t know where the months went! Hoping this long we set new goals, adjust if we need to, and make this another great month

Talking Life Honestly : Success & Positivity
You can literally FEEL the positive vibes just from LISTENING to this episode! It's always a blast to have conversations with like-minded people, and my girl Tyerra over at the Impressions Show is definitely one of those people who brings the good energy! This episode we talk success: what it looks like to us, how we maintain it, and even balancing success! As always, I hope you gain something from this conversation, and if nothing else, stayed for the vibes!
September 28, 2021
Talking Life Honestly: Overcoming
On this episode I get to have a chill conversation with the Host of the 1130 Podcast, Dre! We talk about some things we have overcome, how you can overcome, and even people who like to play that victim role so well. As always, this was an honest and open conversation with some good laughs in between. I hope you are able to take something from this episode, and if nothing else, enjoy some good vibes.
September 14, 2021
Y’all! It’s SEPTEMBER! Where the heck did the time go? Whew, I don’t know! I DO know that I have been enjoying life: I just returned from Hawaii from a well earned week of new memories; I love where I work and what I do; my family is well; my relationships are strong; the podcast is still getting played (amen!);I’m blessed!! Hoping that this month is YOUR time to keep doing you, return to doing you, or even relearning what that means. I’m with you in spirit always!

Talking Life Honestly : Perspective
In this episode, I talk about the concept "the grass being greener" & let me just say, this conversation has a lot of LOL moments (well it did for me :P)! In addition, I got to be honest with my Co-hosts on the Talking Wellness Podcast that Ty actually hosts every Thursday, live on Facebook and Youtube (go check us out!) It was really dope to get to have the guys on the show and have them be, well, honest. :D As always, I hope you get to keep some gems of advice from this episode, and if nothing else, the good vibes!

Talking Life Honestly: Accountability
Listen, accountability has to be my one of my all time favorite attributes about myself and one that I look for in my friendships. So it is only right that in this episode I talk with this dope brotha, also a friend of mine, Franz and we talk accountability. We touch on the lack of, the struggles of it, and I even get held accountable DURING the episode--if that's not some Honestlyhelen I don't know what is. This is episode SIX, which means we are half-way through Season 2! Thank you for rocking with me this far and hope this is another one that brings insight and if nothing else, good vibes.

Talking Life Honestly: Mental Health within the Black Community
THIS episode, has been one of the most educational episodes I've had the pleasure of having on this Podcast thus far🎉. I get to speak with Dr. Kimya who is the owner of the organization 365 Diversity. She is also an Activist Sociologist Criminologist Educator Evaluator I am hoping that like myself, you were able to learn something from this conversation. It's a conversation that I have never had from a Black Woman’s perspective and one that really got me to thinking about my community and how 'strong' we are. It made me more aware of the way we we hide our traumas and how we relate to each other. Sending love to anyone dealing with mental health, especially if you are a person of color. 💛
August 03, 2021
It’s August! Which means we are 8 months into 2021 and I’m sending you nothing but good vibes!

Talking Life Honestly: Motherhood
**Explicit language & heavy use of the word b*tch which is my my favorite endearment for a close girlfriend.**. First off let me just say, it's nothing like having an honest conversation with someone you love, respect, & have been through some thangs with, ya know what I'm saying?! This episode I talk to a long time and good friend of mine, Brianna, and we talk motherhood as well as co-parenting with a partner who isn't consistent. I throughly enjoyed this episode not only because the topic was a good one, it was because it was a cool & honest conversation I got to have with a long time friend. I hope you were able to take something from this episode, and if nothing else, the good vibes! Super big shoutout to my girl Bri for kicking ass while being a Mamabear

Talking Life Honestly: Friends
First off, the vibes of this conversation? Everything! So many good laughs with Berrin (and you get a better glimpse into my interesting comparisons, ha). The energy, the chemistry, the honest conversation, yaaasss! The beauty of it all is the topic for this episode is about friends! I am a HUGE fan of getting different perspectives on the same topic because duh right? Season One, I talked Friendships with a girlfriend of mine so Season Two I wanted to talk Friendships with Berrin, a fellow Floridian brotha! We talk the meaning of friends of the opposite sex, forgiveness, being a part of the cool kids club, and more. IF nothing else, I hope the good laughs, the genuine banter, & the love, is felt & appreciated. SN: Am I the only one that thinks Berrin has the best voice for radio?

Talking Life Honestly:Healing
Sexual Trauma is a multifaceted topic and I wanted to make sure we did it right! Carlos graciously agreed to join us again on the Honestlyhelen Podcast to talk about his healing journey! It was such an insightful conversation, with some gems being dropped along the way. I hope this episode provides you some comfort, and if nothing else, some good old conversation.

Talking Life Honestly: Sexual Trauma
EXPLICIT LANGUAGE and Trigger Warning subject. ~ The topic is a heavy one & we have it the only way how--honestly. This was such a fun--in light of the subject matter--and illuminating conversation because Carlos is so open and such a dope person there was never a moment of awkwardness! I will forever be humbled by Carlos' trust in me with his story. I hope you are moved while listening, and if you can relate, I hope you feel heard in this episode, and know you are LOVED so much by me, if not anyone else. "Trauma is not your fault, but healing is your responsibility." -Carlos P.S Around the 20 minute mark is where the story gets personal. Resources: wingsfound.org

Talking Life Honestly: Grief (v.2)
Alright, so THIS particular episode will always be near and dear to me for 2 big reasons: it was my FIRST episode of Season One and we talk about Grief from losing a parent we were close to. This episode originally is ONLY on Spotify because of a glitch. This worked out perfectly because it allowed me to re-edit this episode so I can upload it on all streaming platforms as the FINAL episode of Season One. For my new listeners, this episode is emotional and we don't hold back so be ready. For my returning listeners, this will still feel like a new episode for you with the sense of déjà vu. DISCLAIMER: Apologies for the random notification dings, a part of me being new at this initially, I didn't know the sound would come through haaha. Also, the ending is abruptly cut because I didn't know it had stopped recording LOL.

Talking Life Honestly: Taking a Break
Detoxing, going on a hiatus, however you want to code it, but adding space between things we love doing, is sometimes needed in life; especially with almost anything we do excessively. In this episode I talk with a good college friend of mine, Adrian about his journey with distancing himself from lust and all things lust involved. I thoroughly enjoyed the episode and hope you do too! So take a listen and feel free to hit me up on IG (honestlyhelen_) or my email @ (firstname.lastname@example.org) for feedback, opinions, and/or comments! Talking Life Honestly: Identity
The timing is impeccable with this episode!! It's Black History Month and on this episode I talk identity with an amazing girlfriend of mine, Asmara; due to the fact we both come from a household where we didn't exactly look like our parents is an interesting part of our background that I thought made perfect for this conversation. I found this conversation to be very enlightening and honest; and although race is a topic that is met with disdain, this time around it was full of laughter and some good old fashion wine drinking ;). I hope you feel the good vibes as much as we did and enjoy the conversation even more, so take a listen! DISCLAIMER: Adult beverages were RESPONSIBLY consumed during the recording of this episode ;)

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE talking about self love and it was so fun and light having this conversation with a good friend of mine, Alberto--who also has his own Podcast called The Three Friends Go Criterion! It was super special not only because its Black History & Love month , but I got to talk about this with a man and I feel like we just don't hear these conversations enough! So take a listen and create a list of the things you love about yourself the things you do to show yourself love & then love yourself more!

Talking Life Honestly: Co-parenting
I love where my conversations take me with my guests, and today's episode is no different! I got to talk about co-parenting and enjoy the journey that conversation took us naturally. I couldn't think of a better way to do that other than having a honest conversation with a Black Father who has managed to collect some gems about co-parenting through his own journey by understanding how expectations played a huge role in his failure with it. Intrigued? Take a listen! DISCLAIMER: I was tested the most with editing this episode LOL, and I don't know why--but I so appreciate you bearing with me as I learn with every new episode

Talking Life Honestly: Labels
On today's episode I got to talk about labels with a super amazing friend of mine, Jeremy! Both of us are from the 904 and somehow moved to the 415, months within each other and became inseparable which made this episode such a pleasure! Labels are almost everything and through this conversation that we let the conversation take us where it wanted, we learned that labels should be a reference point, no the meaning. Jeremy even made me get a little more personable on this episode so you get to know more about me than you did before.

Talking Life Honestly: Technology
'Social Media' or 'Technology'? Do they conjure up different emotions when you think of them or are they synonymous to you? In this very episode I got to talk to an OG about social media's impact from his perspective and I was pleasantly surprised with where the conversation went. Technology has been changing our lives since they figured out how to take pictures way back when, but today's technology? Continues to grow and shape how WE interact not only with each other but the World.

Talking Life Honestly: Black in America
Y'all know what it is: an HONEST conversation. So with that being said, this episode was such a raw conversation with my cousin who I love and appreciate so much for being so open and conversating (yeah, I typed that) with me about what it means, in our perspective, to be Black in America. And it was a conversation that I thoroughly enjoyed editing and was able to reflect back on my own thoughts and my own sterotypes of my Black people. I hope if anything, this conversation you just enjoy the honesty of it but more importantly you wanna have a conversation with someone about what it means to them to be Black in America.

Talking Life Honestly: Friendship
I've always felt like finding a true friendship with another woman was always more work than the pay-off. As I have grown into a woman; I have lost friends, friendship dynamics have changed, but I've actually found myself with at-least a few strong, trust-worthy, loyal, loving--women friends. To talk about this, I reached out to my girl Lien because of her experience with her best friend, and was blessed with an honest conversation that was refreshing. Join us in this conversation that goes through a brief journey of friendships (with a dabble of romantic relationships)--specifically between women, and the power of self love and knowing your love language.

Talking Life Honestly: Grief
Episodes with music are only available on Spotify.
DISCLAIMER: Editing of this episode was a learning moment, so bare with ya girl as I navigate this Podcast journey and all that it encompasses. On this episode I have a honest conversation with my girl Jade. We allowed ourselves to be vulnerable and have a conversation that a lot of the times is overlooked although it affects everyone: grief. We also covered what respect looks like and being authentically you when the world isn't ready for that. Join us on this very rewarding and emotional ride.
