Andy Thomas Interview

Andy Thomas Interview

This podcast I speak to the amazing digital artist Andy Thomas. Over the last two decades Andy Thomas has developed an iconic visual language that is uniquely his own. Using a combination of digital technology and water colours, Thomas’ work is a symbolic representation of nature’s collision with technology. Inspired by the beauty of nature and extensive travel to some of the world’s most ancient rainforests, Thomas fuses together images of flora and fauna into evolved abstract forms. Intricately layered compositions of plants and animals make a strong statement of technology’s impact on planet earth and how advancements in society are affecting the natural systems of life. In recent years Thomas has begun to experiment with digital audio software, initiating a new branch of his practice. This new series of animated video installations visually represent the voices of nature and create an eerie environment of sound and light. Through this new path of artistic investigation Thomas once again finds a way to create works in which nature and technology combine.

Lauren Music Therapist Interview

Lauren Music Therapist Interview

Lauren has an eclectic approach that is humanistic and creative music centered. There is focus on the use of musical language and nonverbal musical communication as well as the importance of the client-therapist relationship. Interactions and trust between the client(s) and therapist is crucial for genuine and personal music-making to occur. Although structure and form, in the means of short and long term goals for each client, can be in place during sessions, the therapy must revolve around the process for the client, giving them freedom to be the guide.

Han Wee Tan Interview

Han Wee Tan Interview

Han Wee Tan has been teaching Yoga and Mindfulness in Cairns with a single, sincere wish to share the benefits of practice with others. His approach to the practices are lighthearted and is known for his capacity to deliver complex concepts in an accessible manner. For him, the practices are a way of thinking and living rather than just a band aid for life. Han also runs a regular Kirtan group here in Cairns.

I really enjoyed speaking to Han in person for this one. His smile lights up a room, he has an infectious laugh and makes a mean kombucha. Han is a friend and such a vibrant articulate soul. Today we talk about the healing benefits of sound, Kirtan and chanting, Nada yoga and the body as an instrument. I hope you enjoy...

SoundBirth- Nicole Lloyd

SoundBirth- Nicole Lloyd

It seems fitting that the first episode I will talk to Nicole Lloyd who is a pioneer as an educator and supporter of women to have 'sound births' using crystal singing bowls and the healing power of their own voice. Like myself she too had a spontaneous experience with the bowls over 10 years ago. Nicole built a business around 'SoundBirth' now named 'Sound 4 Life' sharing sound tools with others. A classically trained musician and someone who new at an early age she wanted to be a sound therapist Nicole shares her journey with us and the benefits of sound birth for mamas to be. I am really excited to share this with you. This is the first time I've spoken with Nicole and am so grateful to be able to share my birth experience with her too. Enjoy.
