Hiker and Author Jim Falkenstein | The Hiker Podcast Episode 8
This week on The Hiker Podcast we talk with day hiker, trail runner and author of the trail book “Ashland Trails”,  Jim Faleknstein. Jim Falkenstein self-published his hyper-local trail guide AshlandTrails.com – The Book in 2019. Jim wrote the book based on his website www.AshlandTrails.com when he realized that some people couldn’t always figure out the internet and still liked purchasing books. He started building his website in 2015 when he realized that Los Angeles was noisy and crowded and moved to Ashland, Oregon. Jim had already created the hiking website www.TrailDummies.com in Los Angeles with help from his  co-host John Cooper. Something else that helps Jim out every day? - His Forestry degree from Michigan State University and his Master’s degree in Film and Television from The University of Michigan. Something else that really helps him out every day? – His wife Beth of 27 years and his two, not-in-the-house-anymore, daughters Freya and Gretel.
