Last time on History for Kids we went right back to beginning of time, according to Greek mythology, and heard how the Ancient Greeks thought the world was created. Check out that podcast if you haven't already, because today we are picking up where we left off. Just to refresh out memories though, some of the big players in this crazy family of gods and goddesses were Gaia, the mother nature goddess, her son Kronos the Titan, who injured and banished his father, and his son Zeus, who became King of the Gods. Today we're picking up from where Zeus has just overthrown his father Kronos as the King, to see what Zeus and his brothers and sisters do next. Listen carefully, and tune in till the end, there's a quiz to see if you've been listening!☆

Greek mythology turns up all around us today, lots of the half animal, half human creatures we love come from ancient Greece. Mermaids and centaurs, the half horse half humans like Firenze in the Harry Potter books, are modern versions of these ancient tales. The Disney movie Hercules retells one of the greatest warriors of Greek mythology and the percy Jackson books reimagine the world for kids today. So who were these Gods and what did they do?

This week on history for kids we are submerging ourselves in all things Greek mythology. We'll go back to the beginning, figure out how it all started for this crazy family of immortals, and see why they've continued to be so captivating to us today. Listen carefully, and tune in till the end, there's a quiz to see if you've been listening!☆

It's like a car but with heavy duty armour protecting it on all sides. Instead of wheels it has two huge tracks which rumble and crunch their way through just about any terrain. It's got an enormous gun on top which can twirl in any direction to fire at the enemy… what are we talking about? A tank of course!
This week on history for kids we are looking at the history of tanks, why they were developed and how they've changed the way soldiers fight throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. Listen carefully, and tune in till the end, there's a quiz to see if you've been listening!
