Rajarajas reign - The mighty Chola king comes alive
The achievements of Rajarajah I who expanded the Chola empire through numerous conquests are brought to life in this fascinating history podcast. Rajarajah, known as the Great, conquered large parts of South India and Sri Lanka during his nearly three decade reign from 985 to 1014 CE, securing the Cholas position as the foremost power in India at the time. He not only excelled as a military leader,but also carried out major land surveys and administrative reforms to strengthen central rule. His patronage of art and architecture also produced masterpieces like the Brihadisvara Temple at Thanjavur.
