Careful where you get your info from

Careful where you get your info from

One of the beautiful things about the internet, podcasts, video channels and social media is the free flowing information you get.

For people building our buying a home this can be very valuable.

However, you must be careful where you are obtaining your information.

Recently I uncovered some very popular videos on a platform and after watching them I was appalled at at the information in them.

Sure it was a catchy headline but after watching the video it was apparent they were not a builder or even in the industry. Then part way through the video they flipped the script and you'll have to tune into hear what they did.

Realtors lose Anti Trust Ruling on Commissions

Realtors lose Anti Trust Ruling on Commissions

The National Association of Realtors recently lost an Antitrust ruling on commissions that could cost 1.8 billion.

The ruling states large brokerage firms conspired to artificially inflate the commission.

Typically the seller pays the commission to a listing firm and the fee is parsed out between the listing broker and the selling broker.

The fallout could mean in the future that a buyer would pay an agent directly to hire someone to help them buy a property and the seller would pay the listing firm only.

We explain why there will be an appeal and give our thoughts on this ruling and share additional information on this developing story.

Why workforce housing doesn't always work

Why workforce housing doesn't always work

One of the biggest issues in housing is providing homes for the workforce. Especially vital workers such as police, fire fighters, nurses, and teachers. Unfortunately, many of these workers wages do not allow them to afford even a basic home near where they work.

This makes it especially hard to recruit these workers as they can't afford to live near their jobs.

Workforce housing has many challenges over the years as it first is not clearly defined. Secondly it requires 3 levels of government to work together, and last private industry has to do it's share as well.

Whenever you try to get that many entities working together it's going to be a challenge, but a worthy one.

There is a lot of work that can be done to bridge that gap and if everyone did their part it could get a lot closer.

It would help solve the housing crisis on hand and help many first time buyers have more choices and opportunites.
