Humans hate change, it's just our nature. But there's a lot of change that can be good, such as you or your child's transition to being self-directed. In this episode Matt talks about how that transition can be different for everyone and how traditional school can hinder that transition.
It's easier to focus on the negative. We all do it sometimes. Where problems occur is when we can't switch that perspective to something positive and that negative mindset continually drags us down. In this episode Matt Beaudreau discusses how to be an "emotional ninja".
Matt Beaudreau breaks down the idea that all reward systems are bad and he discusses the reward system that is in place at Acton Academy Placer, how students benefit, and the long-term effects it can have on their development.
One of the household contracts that Matt Beaudreau has in place with his family is to "Be a copycat". This doesn't refer to dressing the same as someone else or becoming an exact replica of that person. It's taking the admirable character aspects of another person and working to emulate that in yourself.
The generation of young people coming into the workforce and the military does not seem to be one of emotional strength. Matt tackles how perspective in parents can aid or quash anxiety in a young person's development.

Today Matt breaks down the change in culture with the internet, schooling, parenting trends, and how to build resilience in our children to create a stronger generation.

Matt Beaudreau discusses the importance of mindset and self-awareness and how they can impact your child's future.
You wouldn't tell you're child they are an amazing singer if they're not. A 55 year old man wouldn't pursue a career in professional football because that's what he's passionate about. Passion alone does not determine success. Self-awareness, mindset, and bringing passion into that will.
It's a common misconception that a teacher or an expert is a necessary, or even the most important element in order to learn anything. But reliance on a select individual will limit how much your child can truly learn. Children need opportunities to learn from other people, peers, books, research on the internet because they won't have a teacher leading them throughout their adult life.
It's Matt's Birthday! But he doesn't generally openly share that information. Why? Well because the way we treat people as extra special on their birthday is how we should be treating people every day.
Including our kids. He doesn't mean celebrating with a cake every day. We need to continually make sure our children know that they are loved, and being and feeling loved might mean different things for every child.
