Weekend at Biden's

Weekend at Biden's

The Homespun Yak returns this week to discuss the incredibly smooth and extraordinarily peaceful final exit of American forces and civilians from Afghanistan. The guys fondly reminisce on the past 20 years of their lives and talk of the good times - back when America responded to acts of terrorism by violently overthrowing the governments of foreign nations, drone striking villages to oblivion and forcibly spreading the ideals of democracy to those living in hunter gatherer societies. Are the good times truly over for good? America's oldest living man (Joe Biden) seems to think so...

Not to worry folks, we discuss some happy topics along the way in this episode as well. These subjects include but are not limited to:

  • Cristiano Ronaldo's triumphant return to Manchester United. The prodigal son hath returned!
  • Nic's Top 3 (ish) comedians and some that he feels have tremendously fallen off from their glory days.
  • Tik Tok is the new American dream! If you hate how rich and famous Tik Tokers are then you are just jelly.
  • Ben Shapiro vs Pod Save America

We thank you kindly for tuning in!

Afghanistan and Messi Moves

Afghanistan and Messi Moves

Oh hi there, it's been a few weeks - we've been busy improving the podcast in absolutely no way. We've actually been traveling and making personal moves, but we're back (this week we can promise, at least). In this episode, we catch up with Kyle before ranting a bit on the new CoVID policies (when will this end? WHEN?), before taking a bit more of a serious turn into the Afghanistan situation and how it was handled. Finally, we discuss sports - Messi moving to PSG, NBA, NFL, and the usual finishing thoughts on sports. Hit us up on Instagram (@homespunyak). Enjoy, or don't.

We Don't Much Care for The Olympics or ESPN

We Don't Much Care for The Olympics or ESPN

In this recent episode of the HSY, the broskis discuss the dramatic ending to the Euro Cup Final and the different reactions across the globe. Nic in particular was very distraught by the result LOL.

The guys then turn towards the next major sporting event around the corner that will inevitably capture the eyes of a global audience- The Tokyo Olympics. The absurdity of banning Sha'Carri Richardson for a positive THC test is compared to the Olympics allowing a Trans Woman to compete with Biological Women in the weightlifting competition. The Olympics would rather secure sponsorships through virtue signaling than focus on the health/safety and financial well-being of it's athletes... who at the end of the day bring in all of the global viewership! Nic and Kyle are making a stand and will be #boycotting the Olympics. Try to have a successful Olympics now without the backing of the Homespun Yak!

We thank you for backing us and listening!

Euro Cup Reactions (France, Denmark, England, and More), and the Women's National Team "LFG"

Euro Cup Reactions (France, Denmark, England, and More), and the Women's National Team "LFG"

In this episode, the guys spend a good amount of time discussing the recent loss by France to Switzerland, as well as the Spanish victory over Croatia, along with many other games as Kyle makes predictions on the future of the tournament. There's maybe 2 minutes of NBA talk before Nic describes his initial thoughts on the new documentary "LFG" describing women's struggle for equal pay on the National Soccer Team, before they both discuss the challenges ahead of a just fight therein.

Never Underestimate the Impact of Testosterone

Never Underestimate the Impact of Testosterone

Of course the guys kick things off with a short recap of how the first round of the Euros are playing out. Kyle describes how he felt seeing Christian Eriksen collapse on the field from cardiac arrest in Denmark's match against Finland and the guys briefly discuss whether or not ESPN should have had cameras on the moment as it transpired. Finally, to round out the sports segment, they take a look at where things stands in regards to the NBA playoffs and how the Brooklyn Nets went from clear cut favorites to potentially packing their bags early due to star power injuries.

Nic then mentions he is taking a break from caffeine intake for at least a week in order to re-calibrate his tolerance levels. In order to be at a normal functioning level, he would have to down a pot of coffee and 4 Bang energy drinks all before noon. We are all hoping his body can handle a reduction, but we are realists...

Towards the end of the show, the guys discuss a recent JRE Podcast episode with Harvard Prof Carole Hooven. She is an evolutionary biologist who has studied testosterone's impact on human behavior throughout history and is providing some very intriguing insight into it's effects on trans men who decide to undergo hormone therapy. She also discusses how this subject has divided opinions in modern society and how difficult the teaching experience is for her in a setting where the sensitive students want to dictate how the course is taught based on their emotional feelings on the matter.

The Euro Cup and the Drug against Alzheimer's

The Euro Cup and the Drug against Alzheimer's

In this episode, the guys start off running into the soccer world as Kyle breaks down the looming Euro Cup that begins Friday. Will France be victorious through the World Cup into the Euro, or will the weaselly English take the European crown? What group is the group of death? Kyle breaks it all down and Nic pretends to know what a soccer ball looks like. Then, the guys enter hot water again as they discuss a specific trans athlete competing in the Olympics - should it be allowed? Should government get involved?

Finally, Kyle mentions a new Alzheimer's drug that is said to actually reduce Alzheimer's - not just the symptoms, but prevent its continuation and potentially reverse it. Nic breaks down some of the basic science.

Put your headphones on, we're at it again.

Jun 09, 202101:23:12
Trans Athletes, Rammstein Cancelled, and Wim Hof Breathing

Trans Athletes, Rammstein Cancelled, and Wim Hof Breathing

This week the guys don't discuss anything controversial at all. They certainly don't give their strong opinions on Rammstein cancelling their stadium tour due to Covid, trans women competing in sports against biological women, or Joe Biden getting preferential treatment from the media.

Tune in with an open mind and be sure to listen to ALL the information discussed before jumping to conclusions about their feelings and thoughts. The guys propose a revolutionary method of thinking before speaking in a world where that rarely occurs (especially on social media). Also find out how Nic would handle being bullied in the Boys room by Elliot Page and how the Wim Hof breathing technique could be used in your life to reduce stress/anxiety.

Could 'Super Bad' be made in the Age of the 'Woke'?

Could 'Super Bad' be made in the Age of the 'Woke'?

In this episode, the guys discuss a variety of subjects from the heavy handed to the inquisitive. First, they start off discussing the Palestine situation currently going on from a limited point of view, before spring boarding into the CoVID mask relaxation. Then, the guys go into the subject of woketivism and how people can relate to one another if they get so wrapped up in their leftist ways - does comedy still stand a chance in its non-PC ways? Are movies limited to acceptable topics? Are words being erased from the "acceptable"? That, and more, on this episode of the Homespun Yak! *Dragon Ball Z music*

What Women Want in a Man (According to 2 Men)

What Women Want in a Man (According to 2 Men)

Listen as the guys mansplain the social and biological factors important in determining sexual attraction between the sexes!

There is a term that gets tossed around in today's society (at times way too casually) called "Toxic Masculinity". The guys try to break down what exactly this term means and why there can be both negative and positive connotations attributed to it.

They then discuss whether or not folks in today's society are adopting enough personal responsibility for a successful and meaningful life by referencing Dr Jordan Peterson's 4th Rule "Notice that opportunity lurks where responsibility has been abdicated" in his new book "Beyond Order".

Finally, they examine how the "participation award" for children in America involved in spots or competitive activities is actually damaging to our overall success as a nation and ruining our drive/ambition to be #1. You should never be rewarded for being a loser. The devastation of being defeated should motivate you to come up with a plan for success in the future.

Nic published a Study, The End of the Super League, and the Mortal Kombat Disaster

Nic published a Study, The End of the Super League, and the Mortal Kombat Disaster

Hi folks, in this episode, the guys begin discussing the CoVID regulations still in place that make no sense, before briefly discussing the conclusion (or hibernation?) of the Super League Kyle was oh so passionately against last episode. Then, the guys discuss Nic's first autophagy study published after over a year's worth of work, before sliding into the conversation of "Fake Nattys" in the fitness industry. Finally, the podcast rounds out by discussing two or three movies that were highly anticipated and... well, were a bit of duds (for the most part), with a SPOILER run down on the new Mortal Kombat film (we don't discuss it until the end, so you're safe until then if you haven't seen it). This one goes all over, from science, to football, to science, to exercise, to movies - it's a fun one.

Oh, and did you know Caitlyn Jenner is running for office?

European Super League - The End of the Beautiful Game?

European Super League - The End of the Beautiful Game?

In this episode, Kyle gives his passionate opinion on the earth-shattering news of the newly formed European "Super League". Essentially the owners of 12 top-tier European Football teams came together under the cloak of darkness (maybe at Bohemian Grove - not yet confirmed) to form a super league which would eradicate their debts incurred during the pandemic and double their overall values as individual clubs almost instantaneously. They did this without consulting the fans, staff, coaches, or players of their own teams! The hundred plus years of rich tradition and passion these clubs have inspired in generations of working class supporters was casually cast aside once JP Morgan came calling with a loan in the range of $3.5b... This news has sent shock-waves throughout the world of soccer and we are all currently standing upon the peak of uncertainty when it comes to the future and integrity of this most hallowed game. Tune in to hear our opinions on the matter and to maybe even learn a bit more about the details of this so called Super League. If you're against it, make your voices heard! Seems like that's all the common supporter can really do at the moment while more details continue to unfold. Hold on to hope! Caitlyn Jenner is potentially running for California Governor soon, so everything will eventually make sense!

Our Reaction to our Flat Earth Podcast

Our Reaction to our Flat Earth Podcast

In this episode, the guys begin by discussing their thoughts on the latest podcast with special guest Flat Earth Dave. After a detailed discussion, the guys discuss a bit on sports - specifically soccer and why the United States can't seem to compete. The discussion also touches on "should women be paid equally to men on the US National Team?", and who better to discuss it than two dudes. :) There's a bunch more in there (like China's dominance on the economy, CoVID vaccine symptoms, and more), but Nic has been working since 5am and he's tired, and as he's the one talking about himself in third person at the moment he's writing this all, he's going to stop. Nic, stop. Ok.

Flat Earth Theory Explained w/David Weiss aka 'Flat Earth Dave'

Flat Earth Theory Explained w/David Weiss aka 'Flat Earth Dave'

After a week long hiatus, we are back with a bang! Special guest David Weiss, aka 'Flat Earth Dave' makes an appearance on the podcast to discuss all things Flat Earth Theory. As "globers", we knew absolutely nothing coming into this conversation on Flat Earth but had plenty of questions as the conversation progressed. Dave's enthusiasm, knowledge and passion for Flat Earth Theory was clearly evident throughout our time together as he spoke on a wide array of topics that included, but were not limited to:

The overall theory of the Flat Earth and what inspired Dave to dedicate a large portion of his life to exposing it
The widespread and historical government suppression of Flat Earth Theory
Elon Musk being a government shill
NASA's involvement and interesting projects they are currently working on in Antarctica
The Ice Wall and what potentially lies beyond
Experiments one can perform to disprove a Round Earth

While we both remain believers in the Round Earth, it was a great conversation and it really opened our eyes to just how big the Flat Earth community is, their history, and the intricacies/details of their beliefs and theories. We will always try and have open/honest/fun dialogues with anyone about anything we find fascinating. This was certainly one of those moments! LeBron vs Zlatan, Rangers over Celtic, and new CDC Guidelines that make NO SENSE

LeBron vs Zlatan, Rangers over Celtic, and new CDC Guidelines that make NO SENSE

Hi, hello, and welcome back - in this episode, the guys start off with news on Flat Earth Dave, before quickly going into the side effects of their recent CoVID vaccines which leads to a brief (incredulous) discussion of nonsensical CDC guidelines on new liberties allowed the public. Then, the guys dive into a series of different soccer related stories from the Rangers upset over bitter rivals Celtic to Zlatan's criticism of LeBron, before a quick reaction by Kyle on the German National Team's coach stepping down soon. I'm sure (as narrator), I'm missing a few topics mized in with the wide spread, but there ya have it - enjoy!

Dr Jordan Peterson's New Book, Vaccine Shaming, and Woody Allen's Rough Week

Dr Jordan Peterson's New Book, Vaccine Shaming, and Woody Allen's Rough Week

Yes we are getting the vaccine this week, and yes, that unfortunately does make us a little bit better than you. Sorryyyyyy...

Kidding folks, but in this episode Nic gives us a really great picture of how the different vaccines work to protect us from the coronavirus and potentially any variants that will inevitably rear their ugly heads as it mutates across the globe. In regards to vaccinations ramping up across the country for the general population, Kyle predicts we will soon see a wave of self-congratulatory social media posts the likes of which we only see every 4 years with the "I voted" inundations. "I did my part and made a difference by voting for the right candidate, can you say the same about yourself?" "I got vaccinated and not only saved my life, but the lives of every single person I come into contact with. It's time for you all to step up and follow my lead to show you really care about society." Aaaah I can see it now!

Next the guys discuss the newly released and highly anticipated book by Dr. Jordan Peterson, "Beyond Order: 12 More Rules to Life" by showing some fun animated clips of an interview he conducted with the hilarious Nashville based comedian Theo Von. Dr Peterson is an incredibly complex and polarizing figure in modern intelligentsia for often misunderstood and misrepresented reasons. His undeniable intelligence in the field of human psychology and development have made him a very popular figure among folks who are trying to get their lives back in order and find meaning. The guys have thoroughly enjoyed his previous works, lectures and interviews and are really looking forward to reading his new book!

Finally the topic switches to the new HBO documentary "Allen vs Farrow" and the following question arises: "can you separate the art from the artist?" Can you still appreciate the monumental artistic endeavors of figures like Bill Cosby, Woody Allen, OJ Simpson, Michael Jackson, and Tiger Woods? Or can you no longer derive pleasure from their recorded accomplishments based on their actions and behavior in their own personal lives? No right or wrong answer here folks, so let us know how you feel!

Masks into 2022? How to Keep the Passion in Relationships, and the D'Elia Dilemma

In this episode, Kyle gets a few words off his chest related to the pandemic (enough is enough!), before the guys somehow end up discussing the Chris D'Elia apology before being swept away in the dating lives of Leonardo DiCaprio and Derek Jeter of the Austin A's. Then, Nic touches on a book covering the concept of passion and security in relationships - can we keep the "spark", and does it require drastic measures? The guys finish up talking the "Ya ya Sisterhood", because... of course they would end up here? Tune in and go for the wild ride with us!

In this episode, the guys begin reminiscing about some bitter high school memories spanning from meditation to senior projects to hair styles before Nic mentions an absurd story where a woman used Gorilla glue on her hair? Why, though? Finally, the guys couldn't leave this episode without touching on the incredible abilities of our lord and savior - Tom Brady, in the Super Bowl. Also, what would you do witht he money if you were given 600 million dollars over 4 years? Donate it? If so, how? Let us know on the Instagrams (@homespunyak)!

The Pappy Van Winkle Heist

The Pappy Van Winkle Heist

On this episode of the Homespun Yak, the guys start out by discussing some relevant news - The Inauguration of Joseph ROBINETTE Biden Jr. It's been only 1 week since he was sworn in, yet he is already "on notice!" for not "doing enough" for social justice and change according to some "very reasonable" folks in the media. It just highlights the fact that no matter who sits in the Oval Office, their actions and words will never satisfy all.

The dudes then move on to their recent Birthdays which are 10 days apart in the month of January. Kyle celebrated by renting out a theater and watching the timeless classic, "The Big Lebowski". This "pandemic friendly" option that theaters are providing is right up his alley, as he typically hates sharing a packed theater with commoners who text/talk/distract throughout the duration of a film.

Next, they share their thoughts on two heist stories! The first actually occurred earlier this month in the heart of Burgundy where thieves made off with $425,000 worth of grand cru wines from a famous hotel in the region. A high speed "Mario Kart" style chase ensues... This inspires Kyle to follow up with the wild tale of the Pappy Van Winkle Heist which took place in 2013 and involves 9 individuals (including a local cop). Bourbon, steroids, marijuana and more are all intertwined in this one, so don't miss it!

Finally, the lads round out the podcast by discussing the NFC and AFC Championship games and their feelings on how the Super Bowl between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs will play out on Feb 7th. At 43 years old, Tom Brady will be making his 10th Super Bowl appearance in his career with a chance for a 7th win! Nic's take on whether or not we'll see a more accomplished quarterback ever again in the NFL: "Not only will we never see another quarterback as prolific and dominant as Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr., but we shall never again see a figure so dashing, a man so graceful. His ability to will a losing franchise to a Super Bowl by beating the likes of Aaron Rogers and Drew Brees on the road will go down as one of the most inspirational feats in sports history, nay human history! I have been a witness to greatness time and time again throughout the course of my life, but the otherworldly wonder of Tom Brady never ceases to bring a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. I owe this man a great debt for being a guiding light of joy throughout my life and will do my best to repay him by sharing his story and wholeheartedly dedicating my mind and body to the TB12 program."

Oh I'm Just a Shill on Capitol Hill

Oh I'm Just a Shill on Capitol Hill

Shill: "A person who publicizes or praises something or someone for reasons of self-interest, personal profit, or friendship or loyalty."

That sounds suspiciously like someone who was recently banned from Twitter... who could it possibly be?! On this episode of Homespun Yak, the guys try to piece together the events that ultimately resulted in protesters storming the United States Capitol. Were these people inspired by President Trump to forcefully "take their country back"? If so, what are the legal and prosecutorial ramifications for the sitting President once his term comes to an end on January 20th?

Next, the guys pivot to discuss the latest JRE Podcast with Dr Mark Gordon and Andrew Marr who both promote awareness and treatment for head-induced traumas that result in harmful brain inflammation. It's a fascinating discussion about how a reduction in inflammation throughout the body can often result in a better quality of life overall. However noble and intriguing this research and work is, Nic has some credible doubt surrounding the quality of research they have done in attaining some of their conclusions. Kyle's view is more along the lines of, "if I can hit a PR on bench once a week, I'll take the supplements."

Finally on "Sports Segment", the guys rant about the NFL WILD Card Weekend and give their predictions on the outcomes of next week's match-ups! On the "QB Love and Hate" portion of the segment, Nic gives us an in-depth breakdown on Lamar Jackson while Kyle gives his opinion on the future of #sad Big Ben. Can 43 year old Tom Brady lead the TOMpa Bay Bucs to another glorious Super Bowl title in their home stadium?! If he can, according to Nic, it'll be one of the greatest Love and Sports stories ever told:

"I can see myself now", Nic said with a smile. "My grandchildren gather round the hearth as I settle into my recliner. Their wide eyes gaze upon me with a sincere yet innocent look of pure anticipation. They've heard the tale before a hundred times or more, but they never tire of it. I suppose it's like the story of Christmas in that way. My youngest grandchild, Ezekiel, chimes in half way through the story of Tom's infamous battle with Drew Brees during the second round of the 2021 playoffs by saying, 'Grampy is that why you have the number 12 tattooed on your arm?' Instinctively I glance down at my arm and slowly pull back my sleeve revealing the bold red 12 that has been forever stamped on my body since that fateful February Day in 2021. Suddenly the floodgates are opened as tears stream down my face in remembrance of a glorious time gone by. For in this moment I am Noah at sea. 'Tonight children, my heart can endure no more', I say as my daughter ushers the grandchildren to their bedrooms. Though they are disappointed that I was unable to complete the epic story, they know in due time I will regain my strength and inspire them once more with the legendary Tale of Tom. My heart will go on. It must..."

Nic's Gym Encounter.

In this episode, the guys get into a variety of topics (as always); like, a bunch of topics. First, inexplicably, they get into the world of MMA and fighting - investigating sex differences and the role they play in fighting sports. Kyle recounts times wherein he's running and loses track of time as his mind builds scenarios that get him angry, a shared experience Nic understands. Then, Nic tells a short story of a rather "odd" gym encounter he had the morning of the podcast recording - how would you react in that situation? Finally, the guys touch on the NFL game between the Ravens and the Browns before closing out the podcast, but rest assured, there are many topics covered (CoVID, hormones, and cancelculture all make an appearance, as well).

The Gary Vee Mentality, Consciousness Explored, and the History of Retirement

The Gary Vee Mentality, Consciousness Explored, and the History of Retirement

Where do the thoughts come from? Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by the memories of your past experiences that seemingly appear out of thin air? On this week's episode of The Homespun Yak, the guys explore human consciousness and it's impact on how we perceive and react to certain events at different ages. Even though our names remain the same, after 10 years of living are we still the same individuals both inside and out? Are these ideas the ramblings of two madmen? Tune in to find out!

The guys then discuss how certain people on social media attempt to manufacture internal happiness by projecting their material wealth publicly to gain the approval of those they do not even know. If we look at the Gary Vee approach to situations like this, he would say that the number one thing people must do in order to take control of their lives and self-satisfaction is to stop caring what other people think and say. This would also apply to folks who are looking for a new job based on current stagnation or discontent in that particular industry. Can you afford to take a risk and make a drastic change in your career? Does your job have you in "golden handcuffs"? How do you know whether or not you can take a passion project and make it into something profitable for the long term?

The guys try their best to answer some of these questions by diving into personal experiences that they've either heard from others or lived through themselves. They then look at whether or not retirement is a realistic possibility for them and how they feel they would handle it if they were to achieve it at some point down the line. Finally, they end by asking, "what's going on with the Ghislaine Maxwell case?!"

Maradona, Iran snubbed on Nuclear Weapons... Oops, we mean "Power"

On this episode of the Homespun Yak, the guys go into a series of topics, starting off with a short story of a HYPOCRITICAL "CoVID" conscious doctor called "Dr. Mike". Eventually, the guys turn their attention to Maradona's passing and Kyle expounds on his impact in soccer, as well as where Messi stacks against the legend. They also move into a quick discussion back to the mid 2000s where Michael Vick was imprisoned for dog fighting - do you forgive him? The guys discuss, and Kyle brings up some solid points that might turn an impassioned "hell no!" to a more muted response. Kyle strikes up the discussion of the Nuclear scientist in Iran that was killed by... Israel? What implications does that leave us with? Imagine if *that* happened in the United States!

Covid-19 - The True Meaning of Thanksgiving in America

Covid-19 - The True Meaning of Thanksgiving in America

For Thanksgiving this year, will you be feasting gleefully in the presence of family and friends? If so, you may be serving up that fried turkey and Beuajolais Nouveau with a side of Covid-19...

In this episode of Homespun Yak, the guys talk Turkey Day tattle tales and social distancing hypocrites like Governor Gavin Newsom of CA: "Since I already got to ball out with my friends during a private party at the French Laundry, I'm officially giving the go ahead on November 25th for all restaurants to revert back to take-out orders only." He kind of reminds of Bruce Wayne if he never became the Batman. Just sort of stayed a rich, elitist dick that could never just buy an island and mind his own business.

Nic then brings up some recent Tim Pool content and points out how many reputable members of the so called "Intellectual Dark Web" scene have yet to concede Trump's defeat and in some cases are even peddling conspiracy theories revolving around widespread voter fraud. Kyle mentions a recent Sam Harris podcast entitled "Republic of Lies" where he discusses his take on why this is happening with so many of his peers as well as the implications of Trump's refusing to concede the Presidential election. Are people going against what they truly believe in order to capitalize on popular trends and cash in? Tune in this week to find out...

We hope you enjoy a safe and relaxing Thanksgiving this year, but please do us a favor and don't count your calories... Go Hog-Wild!

Kyle's escape from a deadly Beast of Nature

Hey Yak, yak, yakkers,  this week, Kyle and Nic begin by opening up a new transient section called the "tech corner" wherein Kyle tells of his incredible computer deal getting a super computer, before Nic gives two PSAs related to Apple's new technology they announced and released over the last few weeks. Then, the guys discuss a highlight moment in their Halo careers, before the conversation turns to the dreaded CoVID lockdown and the individual responsibility of people to take responsibility for their actions. The episode finishes with a comical tale wherein Kyle relates his experience being mauled by a... you know what? You'll find out. :)

Weed is Legal in 15 States Maaan

Weed is Legal in 15 States Maaan

The 2020 Election Results are in and the winner is Marijuana.

In this episode, the guys discuss the 4 new states (New Jersey, Montana, South Dakota and Arizona) that recently voted to make recreational marijuana consumption legal and what it could potentially mean for the rest of the country going forward. A look at Oregon's decision to decriminalize all drugs and allow for medicinal psilocybin usage in therapeutic settings is also closely examined. Will this unlock a new understanding of the human mind and allow us to explore better ways of understanding and diminishing severe cases of anxiety, addiction, depression, OCD and PTSD? That's certainly the hope.

In speaking about the actual Presidential Election results, the guys share their views on how an America under a President Biden might look. Kyle shares his thoughts on why the polls were laughably wrong in some instances and how the overall message from the DNC needs to change pretty dramatically if they want to eventually win the Senate and maintain the Presidency in 2024. The guys then react to a clip of Andrew Yang telling CNN exactly what that message needs to be.

Finally, Nic gives us some great news about a recent Covid-19 vaccine from Pfizer that has proven to be at least 90% effective in initial trials. 25 million doses are expected to launch by year's end with another 1+ Billion doses landing by the end of 2021.

Reacting to the Election Results (As They Come In), and an $1100 Bet, ft. Bennie and Merva Berman

There isn't much to say here, except that the title says it all: The Election, you know the one - the puppy election in Maryville between Juniper, the Labrador and Jerry, the Bulldog... OF COURSE THE UNITED STATES ELECTION. We're joined, briefly, by Bennie and Merva Berman discussing who we think will win, and then we sit around and discuss election news as its rolling, live. We hope you enjoy, and if Trump wins, listen to this again and see how wrong we all were. Tune in next week as Kyle and Nic discuss the actual finalized results (if we have them?).

President Macron's Message to Extremists, The Confirmation of ACB, and The Immortality Key

President Macron's Message to Extremists, The Confirmation of ACB, and The Immortality Key

Key figures of Vice President Mike Pence's inner circle have tested positive from Covid-19 and sources are now speculating that the individual responsible is Homespun Yak Podcaster Nic the "Super-Spreader". Pence has yet to comment, but will nonetheless continue to press on with campaigning at rest homes and hospitals across the nation...

Breaking "fake news" aside, the guys kick this episode off by discussing the impact religion has on political, judicial and legislative decisions in the United States today. Is it possible to put your personal bias or religion aside as a judge when voting on a landmark decision that could potentially impact the lives of millions? It seems like this has become a major talking point today as we see the confirmation of a new conservative-leaning SCOTUS, Amy Coney Barrett.

Continuing the discussion surrounding the separation of church and state, they then transition to recently relevant news in France. Samuel Paty, a teacher in Paris, was found decapitated in the street after his attacker discovered he had shown his students caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed during one of his classes. Freedom of expression and secularism are key values of French society and President Macron responded to this vile attack by saying "France will keep loving debates, reasonable arguments, we will love science and its controversies. We will not give up caricatures, drawings, even if others are retreating." In response to his condemnation of terrorism and extremist Islamic attacks on French citizens, Muslim dominated countries like Turkey, Egypt, Iraq and Pakistan are encouraging the boycott of all French imported goods.

Finally, the guys list the many reasons why Hillary Clinton was (and still is) such an unlikeable figure and how her husband Slick Willy Clinton may in fact be one of the walking dead.

Sending E-mail in 1984, Bernie Mac on Relationships, and Voting

Hi all, in this episode, the guys discuss some heavier handed topics and some light hearted discussion. On the heavy handed side we have voting in this upcoming election and beyond, as well as when its time to leave a friendship or romantic relationship? However, the podcast powers back on some light hearted discussion of email and technology in 1984 - its quite a ride. So, you'll be taking a time machine back to the infamous 1984; also, do you think people talk differently now compared to the 1950s? This episode has it all, and we're happy to have you with us for the ride. For video representation of the podcast, be sure to check out the podcast on YouTube under the name - what else? - Homespun Yak.

Eddie Van Halen Remembered, Yelp's New Racism Alert, and the Impact of the #metoo Movement

Eddie Van Halen Remembered, Yelp's New Racism Alert, and the Impact of the #metoo Movement

Strap in folks! This episode is full of some serious material, but not to worry, there are some chuckles sprinkled in throughout the episode as well!

The guys start out by discussing the monumental impact guitarist Eddie Van Halen had on the Rock world and how his unique playing style mesmerized millions. Kyle shares a story from 2007 when he was lucky enough to see Van Halen perform live at the Greensboro Coliseum and the guys marvel at a clip of his most famous guitar solo, "Eruption".

They then move to a recent story about the online review giants at Yelp moving to install a new feature on their website that allows people to identify if certain businesses are demonstrating racist behaviors. They agree that the intentions might be good and an independent company has every right to update their procedures with how they see fit in our current climate. However, it seems impossible that every single incident that will be reported will be 100% accurate. Human error and misunderstanding of true intentions will inevitably occur and the hope is that innocent businesses' reputations are not destroyed because of it.

Finally, Nic shares a video regarding the impact and meaning of the #metoo movement. In the video, 2 groups of people who are in separate camps on this issue share their experiences and opinions on how helpful or hurtful this movement has so far. The guys analyze the comments within the video and share their opinions on how effective the movement has been and how it's changed their perspective for the better. There are many instances today where people hold steadfast in a particular ideology and find solace in the company of others who share in those exact beliefs. This video shows how imperative it is to step outside of this comfort zone by having a dialogue with those who are on the opposite side. Tolerance and a slight expansion of your own awareness and world view can go a long way in bridging the great divide we are seeing in society today.

Trump with CoVID, Sport Update, and the end of a 6 year relationship

Trump with CoVID, Sport Update, and the end of a 6 year relationship

In this episode, the guys start off with the obvious - the newest news... President Trump has the CoVID, and how did he handle it? Not well, in our opinion - find out why. Then, Kyle updates us all on the excitations of the soccer world with Tottenham and Liverpool, as the guys briefly discuss the NBA finals and then move into the NFL (Dallas, you there?). The episode ends with a new segment - we don't really know what to call it, but "Random Stuff from the Internet" - presenting a video wherein a couple of 6 years confronts each other and we hear snippets of their sides of the story - the guys weigh in... As a matter of opinion, if you like the last segment, let us know - we'd like to continue brining in new content to the podcast, it's already a mixture of everything, why not a bit more?

Spotify's Eye on Joe Rogan, Trump's Tiny Taxes, and Rolling Stone's Top 500 Album Analysis

Spotify's Eye on Joe Rogan, Trump's Tiny Taxes, and Rolling Stone's Top 500 Album Analysis

Well we've got another exciting episode lined up for you today you Yak Offs!

It's early days in Joe Rogan's new partnership with the mega media moguls Spotify and could the relationship already be headed down a rocky road?

The Yaks discuss Joe's recent public (some would say excessive) apology over a comment he made on a recent podcast with Douglas Murray as well as internal dissent at Spotify with some of their top employees about Joe's 'toxic' language over Trans issues. Is there an oversight committee being formed to review and potentially censor episodes of the JRE before they are released on their platform? Knowing Joe Rogan's staunch stance on freedom of speech and his willingness to allow people from all sides of the political spectrum to express their views openly on his show, the guys speculate/hope that these issues with Spotify will likely stop dead in it's tracks. Rest assured a close eye will be kept on the situation...

Reports of Donald Trump's Federal Income Tax Returns from 2017 have apparently been uncovered to the tune of a measly $750... Just in time for the 1st Presidential Debate against Joe Biden. Will Biden push him to provide a clear and concrete answer as to why this number was so low? And will Trump simply retort with his familiar tune of "Fake News"? The guys express their opinions on how the roast battle - sorry, debate - might go...

Finally, the episode is rounded out by a close examination of the newly released Rolling Stone Top 500 Albums of All Time list. The last time this list was updated was 17 years ago, so there have been some monumental shake ups. Instead of going through all the options, they decide to just give a run down of the top 25. Some of the choices seemed justified while others seemed incredibly out of place, however we would love to hear some of your input on the opinions expressed. Much to Nic's chagrin, a TOOL album wasn't even listed in the top 500! A true outrage indeed.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the Republican Back Stab

Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the Republican Back Stab

Hey Yaks, in today's episode, the guys take a long time to discuss the implications of Ruth Bader Ginsburg's passing while also discussing Lindsay Graham's comments and the way the Republican party is breaking their own established moral rules for how to proceed with the appointment of the next SCOTUS. About half the podcast is focused on the political implications, before moving into all the sports of the last 2 weeks - the NBA: The Heat vs the Celtics (Herro, anyone?), the Lakers and the Nuggets (why is this series even a thing?),  Gareth Bale to Tottenham, the PGA tournament, and NFL football. It might start out heavy, but it ends up light as whipped cream - enjoy!

Joe Rogan in Texas, Cuties on Netflix, and the Boogaloo Movement Explained with Bennie Berman

Joe Rogan in Texas, Cuties on Netflix, and the Boogaloo Movement Explained with Bennie Berman

On this week's episode of the Homespun Yak Podcast, Nic and Kyle are joined by longtime friend and 3rd time guest Bennie Berman!
Was Joe Rogan violently high when he came up with the idea for his brand new studio in Austin, Texas? Will the idea of him as a potential moderator for the upcoming Presidential debates actually come to fruition? The guys talk about some of the reasons why Joe might be the perfect candidate for such a role... Plus it's 2020 so why the f*$k not!?
Then, the topic of the new and widely discussed film "Cuties" on Netflix is brought up as it is currently the 7th most popular movie in the US. Bennie raises some great points on why so many people are outraged by the film's portrayal of young girls in an overtly sexualized fashion while addressing some who praise the work as "liberating" for girls who desire to break the bonds of their traditional values and norms.
Finally, after a close examination of student loan debt, tax rates, and tuition prices for colleges across the country, Bennie gives us an overview of the "Boogaloo Movement" going on in America today. Is this a far-right extremist group with ties to white nationals? Or is it a group of individuals who value Libertarian beliefs at their core and strive to protect the rights and property of those who are too weak to defend it themselves?
Reinforcing one's own beliefs and emotions about any hot button issue today can be easily achieved through the lens of social media. However there is a real danger in only associating with ideas and people that align and conform entirely with your body of beliefs. It's certainly the easiest and most comfortable path to go down, but exposing yourself to alternative points of view, new lived experiences and real life conversations with folks on the other side of the aisle may just lead to less violence, hatred and ignorance. Leave the emotions at the door and just have a dialogue instead of cancelling friends for not conforming.

Kyle's trip to Sin City

Kyle's trip to Sin City

In this episode, the guys mainly discuss Kyle's trip to Las Vegas, which was full of excitement that we'll let Kyle tell. Nic also announces his retirement from identifying with particular teams (giving up the Bucks, Packers, Badgers, etc.). Then, the guys briefly discuss the psychology of... dogs? Sure, why not!

Also, we are trying out a new software that allows them to capture clear video to post - so, we will be trying that out over the coming weeks and continuing to improve the visual experience over time.

Navigating the News, Understanding Marriage, and Radicalizing Rationality in 2020

Navigating the News, Understanding Marriage, and Radicalizing Rationality in 2020

Welcome back to another new episode of the Homespun Yak!

This week's episode is a bit heavier than usual as the guys grapple with some intense but relevant ideas and current events:

- Trying to get a better understanding of modern marriage in the 21st century. Exploring Nic's recent research and hesitation with the idea of        marriage today and also getting input regarding Kyle's view of its pros and cons.

- A close examination of the media's narrative in the lead up to the Presidential election in November. Are we truly receiving the facts from mainstream media of what is going on today in regards to the election, protests, and police brutality? Have we as individuals relied too heavily on emotion when reacting to incendiary news stories? It may be time to take a closer examination in order to maintain personal integrity and honesty.

- Kyle then changes up his earlier prediction on who will win the Presidency and shares new information that has emerged from the Jacob Blake shooting incident in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

- Certainly an intense episode folks - thanks for listening and keeping an open mind!

Kimberly Guilfoyle's Speech and Messi's end in Barca, ft. Will Haynes

Hi all, in today's episode, we had the distinct pleasure of having Will Haynes back on the podcast. This episode, the three of us discuss the impassioned speech given by Kimberly Guilfoyle at the Republican National Convention before turning our sights onto the disappointing Democratic picks for President and Vice President - will anything *actually* change if they come into office? Have Democrats remembered their blunders of 2016? We'll see...

Then, Nic listens in as Will and Kyle discuss a topic he's out of his league in - soccer/proper football. More specifically, they discuss Lionel Messi leaving Barcelona and speculate where he might go. Then, the guys briefly discuss the legacy of Messi and who the best player *ever* might be. A little NBA talk jumps in at the end before finishing this week's episode off. Tune in!

Uighur Oppression in China, the Freshman Experience under Covid, and the Sports Second

Uighur Oppression in China, the Freshman Experience under Covid, and the Sports Second

Welcome back to the Homespun Yak!

In this week's informative episode, Nic walks us through what we currently know about the situation for the Uighur population in the Xinjiang Province of China. Under the guise of "cultural re-education", it appears as though the Chinese have rounded up millions of Uighur Muslims against their will in internment camps in order to forcefully eradicate their property, culture and ability to reproduce on their own terms. The guys examine reasons as to why/how this is currently happening in the 21st century, if this is a clear example of a modern genocide, and cite similar examples of these actions throughout history under other communist regimes (Soviet Union).

The guys then shift to discuss what it must be like as a Freshman in college after UNC announced all classes going forward will be held remotely online. Reflecting upon their own experiences as wide-eyed 1st year students at major Universities, they can't help but feel for the millions of young folks throughout the world who won't be able to socially interact in a completely new and exciting world. Hopefully by 2021, we will be able to have a safe vaccine that will enable them to ultimately achieve this wonderful experience.

Finally, the new "Sports Second" segment is introduced by Kyle as the conversation turns to the unique Semi-Final showdown of the Champions League which includes 2 teams from both Germany and France. Barcelona's massive meltdown defeat to Bayern Munich in the quarter finals now raises serious concerns over the fate of Leo Messi retiring in the Catalan capital, and Kyle speculates where the superstar may end up next season if demands aren't met... A rundown of the NBA Bubble Playoff picture is also discussed in great detail.

Beirut Explosion, Biden's Cognition, and the turning of the Ku Klux Klan

This is a special episode, because its right in the time frame marking our one year anniversary recording and releasing the Homespun Yak (thank you for listening!). In this episode, the guys discuss the Beirut explosion and the difficulties therein, before getting onto a recent Biden interview wherein Kyle describes his impressions of what is happening to Biden, as well as what might happen in debates (if they ever happen).  Finally, the guys discuss Daryl Davis' convincing of hundreds of Ku Klux Klan members to give up their hateful ways, as well as the new Canadian idea of obesity - let us know your thoughts on Instagram!

Drama at the Dentist, Nick Cannon's Melanin Misunderstanding, and the Socio-Economic Starting Line

Thanks for joining us on this week's episode of the Homespun Yak! This week the guys strap in to discuss a wide array of topics and current events:

- Dental horror stories and the offensive passive aggressive tone one can expect to receive from the dentist upon each visit.

- The frightening and chaotic situation in Portland with folks being whisked away in vans with bags over their heads by Federal Agents.

- Revisiting the bleak and underwhelming Presidential election in November... not a lot of pros on the list for either candidate at the moment.

- Nick Cannon's outlandishly uneducated comments on melanin and Anti-Semitic conspiracy theories

- The idea of reparations as investments into impoverished and overlooked communities in America

- Equality of Outcome vs Equality of Opportunity

- The Greatness of Monty Python

DeSean Jackson's Antisemitism; Annoyance in Expertise; Online Dating detrimental to Men?

In this podcast, the guys start off discussing a bit of golf (Nic knows nothing, as you'll hear), before Kyle brings up the recent events related to DeSean Jackson's posting of Hitler's quotes on the Jewish people and the black community - that's a weird scenario. Then, the guys dive into what aspect of their lives they feel well versed in, yet get annoyed when others try to explain their own expertise back to them. Finally, they discuss if online dating is detrimental to young men, or is it a hidden benefit? Tune in and let us know your thoughts! IG & YT: @homespunyak

Let 1918 tell you the meaning of "Freedom"... (what were Nic's CoVID-19 test results?)

The podcast is back for yet another episode wherein the guys kick if off discussing if Nic has tested positive for CoVID-19, and then the guys get into the extreme loss of freedoms in 1918 with the "Great Influenza", how does it compare to today? Not even close, let us tell you. Then, we briefly discuss the new Mahomes' contract for over 400 millions dollars (pshh... that's it?), before stepping into the discussion on the newest developments on the Epstein case before sliding into home with famous public figures' ability to withstand public criticism for bad past choices and their ability to survive in "Cancel Culture". Cam Newton signs for the Pats, the Future of Covid-19 in the US, and the HSY Book Club

Cam Newton signs for the Pats, the Future of Covid-19 in the US, and the HSY Book Club

It's mid-week submission Thursday here at the Homespun Yak!
Nic's recent exposure to someone exhibiting symptoms of Covid-19 along with his creeping dry cough and "covid voice" are making him wonder if he has potentially caught the virus... We certainly hope that is not the case, but if so we will at least be able to get a day by day analysis of his experience for the listeners! The guys then speak depressingly on the unfortunate situation of choosing between "man-baby Trump" and "cognitive-decline Joe" for the upcoming November election and how cases of Covid-19 continue to sharply rise while deaths remain quite low comparatively.
Moving on to the world of sports, they then discuss the highly anticipated move of Cam Newton to the New England Patriots and what morale of the American public might look like if the NFL actually decides to scrap the entire season this fall. They also share their opinions on how the Bucs (with Tom Brady) and the Pats (with Cam Newton) would match up against one another with their new offensive systems in place.
Finally, Nic and Kyle take a little time to talk about the books they are currently reading for the segment of the podcast known as "HSY Book Club". Nic is currently immersed in "Empire of the Summer Moon" by S. C. Gwynne, which graphically details the Native American Comanche tribe in Texas during the 19th century. Kyle is just cracking open "The Strange Death of Europe" by Douglas Murray (thanks Bennie), which goes into the many reasons behind and initially unforeseen short and long term consequences of mass migration to European nations.

Lord of the Rings, and the Seriousness of "Cancel Culture"

In this episode, the guys start out with a maybe true trend in China wherein people buy live animal key chains (Nic honestly isn't sure if its real). Then, Kyle brings up the death of Sir Ian Holm at the age of 88 and his impact on Kyle during the Fellowship of the Ring, which drives the conversation into movie series and show series, and how awful they can get. Finally, a large chunk of the podcast discusses cancel culture as we move from JK Rowling to Chris D'Elia to Joe Rogan and then to general cancel culture. Jeffrey Epstein "Filthy Rich" Story

Jeffrey Epstein "Filthy Rich" Story

Hi everyone, today's podcast episode starts off discussing a bit of social media discourse on racism and the current situation with the George Floyd related protests and riots around the Black Lives Matter movement. However, the real "bread and butter" of this episode is centered around a documentary Kyle and Nic watched that goes into the depths of the Jeffrey Epstein (you remember him, right? He was a philanthropist, loving citiz... nope, he was the guy that sexually assaulted hundreds of women and was "in bed" with many famous people, including many politicians and then mysteriously committed suicide) story. So, without further ado, let's dive in.
