Prayer:
Almighty God, who sent the promised Holy Spirit to fill disciples with willing faith:
We confess that we resist the work of your Spirit among us, that we are slow to serve you and reluctant to spread the good news of your love. God, have mercy on us. Forgive our divisions
and by your Spirit draw us together. Create in us a desire to do your will and be your faithful people for the sake of your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Prayer for Our Families -
Holy One, we ask you to guide each of us in our family, by the power of your Holy Spirit, to be completely humble and gentle in our interactions with one another. We pray for strength and courage to be patient, bearing with one another’s faults in love - even when we’re tired, frustrated, angry, or hurt. Help us to make every effort to remain united in your Holy Spirit. Please bind us together in love and peace. Amen.

O Holy One, on mountaintops and valley floors you reveal to us the light of your love. Our hearts desire to bask in the amazing glory of your divine presence. With each encounter we are changed and transformed.
Draw us nearer, that we might receive a double portion of your Holy Spirit. Help us, O Holy One, to live our lives as a reflection of divine glory. May we walk among humanity as a blessing, bearing light into dark places, hope to displace despair, and love that casts out hate.
Our world is hurting, and we need the followers of Jesus to follow more closely. Maybe then we will hear your voice speaking to us and saying, “listen to my Child, the Beloved!” Amen.

God of grace and compassion, you have created us to be in community with one another and to rely on each other’s gifts to complete us. During this season of doing church together, will you show us ways to make meaningful connections? Will you help us build lasting friendships? Will you teach us how to support one another? We thank you for connecting us with you through your Son, Jesus. It’s in his name we pray. Amen.

Generous and Compassionate God, We are reminded today that your blessings do not necessarily follow the logic of the world. The world believes that the rich are blessed, but Jesus reminds us that it is the poor who are blessed… the poor in spirit and the materially poor as well. We pray for a more just world in which all have enough and none are left behind.
Though we fear death and avoid its inevitable arrival, Jesus tells us that those who mourn are blessed. Help us to experience the truth of this mystery. Bring healing and wholeness to those who are sick. Comfort those of us who have lost loved ones.
While people covet power, Jesus blesses the meek. Instruct us, O God, in the ways of humility. Help us to stand in solidarity with the oppressed and marginalized. Show us your presence in the faces of those the world forgets.
Give us a hunger and thirst for righteousness. Fill our hearts with love, overflowing with mercy. Make our hearts pure, and give us a vision of your glory. In a society divided by race, gender, class, ideology, sexual orientation, and so many other labels, remind us that we are created in your image, each of us a beautiful reflection of you, each of us your beloved child. Help us then to end our conflicts and wars, help us to be peacemakers and agents of reconciliation. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kindom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kindom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Let us work together with understanding and compassion in our hearts. Let us not be rude or arrogant towards one another, as we light the way to your heavenly kindom. Amen.

Blessing of Seeds (Physical & Spiritual)
Bless these seeds, pregnant with life. They show us the Easter mystery of new life coming from death and burial. May they burst forth soon with verdant growth from earth, rain and sun.
You have called us to the honored task of being workers in your garden. Through the rain and these seeds, bring us to a new awareness of your presence in and around us, as we joyfully live in the knowledge of eternal resurrection.
Plant seeds of love in our lives that will grow through the years, watered by the tears of pain and sacrifice that come our way. Your Son showed us the way. We now ask your guidance to follow it well. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Prayer:
Triumphant Lord, we rejoice in your entry into the world and into our lives. Joining with the crowds, we sing praise, exalt your reign, and give you all the glory. As we enter Holy Week, may we continue to worship you as we serve one another. And may we die to our own selves, so that when Sunday comes, we too may experience personal resurrection. We pray this in the name of the Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer. Amen.

6 Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came looking for fruit on it and found none. 7 So he said to the gardener, ‘See here! For three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and still I find none. Cut it down! Why should it be wasting the soil?’ 8 He replied, ‘Sir, let it alone for one more year, until I dig around it and put manure on it. 9 If it bears fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.’”

God of Hope, Thank you for giving us the privilege of being empowered according to your glorious might. Please give us enough strength to endure life’s obstacles so that we will not be tempted to give up. Empower us with courage and confidence so that we can be patiently calm in the middle of distress, and not fall into despair and hopelessness. With overflowing joy, we thank you for your loving guidance and the peace it brings. Amen.

Wilderness Prayer:
Forgiving God, in this season of repentance, make your mercy sufficient for every need.
Come to your children who are in their own wilderness and make their wanderings holy paths of learning your truth.
Strengthen all who face the threshold of temptation or the turmoil of trial.
Seek those whose hearts are remorseful and meet them with grace.
Renew your church from the depths of your heart, where justice and mercy meet.
Bring us with all your saints to the day when all who watch and pray for your kindom, behold your salvation and meet you in your resurrection.
God most glorious Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer. Amen.
