The Hope Straightahead Podcast - stories of brokenness finding hope in unexpected places.

By Dr. Tim Stein, DC CACCP

This world is broken, but the good news is that there’s HOPE...it’s closer than you think, and we often find it (or it finds us) where we least expect it. That’s the idea of “Hope Straightahead” - real life stories of brokenness finding hope in unexpected places. Hi, I’m Dr Stein & having spent countless hours & over $200k in personal/professional development, I’ve concluded that I’m a work in progress...and so are you! I’d like to invite you to join me & some friends (expert, both professionally & practically) on this journey towards “better”; as we vulnerably press into this space of hope.

There's a story being told that's leading people away from freedom & into bondage. What's that story? It's that we need help to be healthy. The reality is, we don't need more intervention to be healthy, we need less interference. By design, we've been created for health. Health is Normal, but find out how that idea has become unpopular in this episode of The Hope Straightahead Podcast.

6. "Confidence vs. Compromise," with host Dr. Tim Stein DC, CACCP

6. "Confidence vs. Compromise," with host Dr. Tim Stein DC, CACCP

Let me ask you: "What do you base your decisions on?"  When faced with a choice, do you have a process or platform upon which you decide the direction you will take?  Do you ever think about it?  If you are anything like me, you gather information and pull from past understanding or experience, and follow conviction.  But, also, if you are anything like me, you fail.  Just last week, I faced a conviction that revealed some "drifting" in my life where I was not being as intentional as I should have been...AND, that was 2 WEEKS after I had already recorded this podcast!  But, thank God for the conviction that compared where I was to where I want to be; which chipped away at my complacency and stubbornness to help me correct the course.  You/we all make decisions we regret, and will face the consequences of our choices... eventually.

Well, in this episode Dr. Stein discusses Confidence, Certainty, Compromise, and Collapse in the choices we make and the consequences they have, both good and bad.  Lean in and take notes, as we are confident this episode will bring you hope and help to navigate through much of what life brings your way.

4. "Dealing with Difficulty" (Part2) - "Growing Through Greif," with special guest Sarah Perrenoud.

Its been said that if you know more than others in the room, you are an expert. Nick and Sarah Perrenoud are experts in SO many ways and categories. Very few, if any, people have experienced what they have... and I think it's safe to say, they would do it again in a heartbeat. Tune in to this episode (4) as it is the second part of an interview I had the pleasure of doing with Sarah. But before you do, if you haven't already, go back and listen to the first part (Episode 3).
Joining me today in this episode of The Hope Straightahead Podcast is one of our closet family friends and a Mama that we admire more that words could say. Her name is Sarah Perrenoud, and maybe you've heard their family's story before? Her and her husband Nick adopted a son named Angel, and their story of finding hope in brokenness is nothing short of miraculous! From being a micro-premie, to IV nutrition, adoption, a two year life expectancy, multiple organ failures, rejections, and transplants (on more than one occasion), cancer, isolation, masks, etc... they've endured a lot! Yet, they remained anchored in hope! You DO NOT want to miss this episode. You might even want to listen more than once, and share it with everyone you know... especially those struggling right now! This episode is raw and real. There is nothing held back, including my own tears. If you want to learn more about Angel's story, or perhaps how you can get connect to the Perrenoud family and help in their efforts to make this world a better place, especially for kids, check out these links:

2. "Where's your Hope?" with Dr. Tim Stein, DC CACCP

If I were to ask you to define "hope," how would you do it?  What would you say?  Well, in this Episode of "The Hope Straightahead Podcast", we roll up our sleeves and talk about Hope and this idea/vision of "Hope Straightahead."  Never has there been a better time to talk about this subject than now.  Brokenness, on so many levels, surrounds us.  We all feel it's effects... in different ways and at different levels, but nobody is immune.  Then enters Hope; an effective approach to not just managing brokenness, but push through it and growing stronger as a result.  But, what is it?  Where do we find it?  What are some of the common and popular thoughts of hope in culture and society?  Lean in, listen, and learn as we unpack the framework that will not only help you: 1. understand hope better, lay the foundation of why this podcast exists, and tell you where we "hope" for it to go, but 2. and most importantly, it will help you gain some tools to live with greater hope.

The greatest common demonstrator we all face as humans is brokenness, but not everyone finds hope.  In this very first episode of “The Hope Straightahead Podcast”, Dr Stein & Dr Eller discuss: Perfectionism Parenting Stress Shame Identity Self-Awareness Mental Health & Prevention Mindfulness the Enneagram (briefly) and a WHOLE bunch of other topics & practical steps towards becoming a “better you”; as we unpack this idea of “Hope Straightahead”, with our special guest Dr. MaryEllen Eller, MD. MaryEllen Eller graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine and completed psychiatric residency training at Loma Linda University Medical Center. She is a board certified Psychiatrist with speciality training in psychopharmacology and high performance medicine. MaryEllen has partnered with her husband, Nick Eller, DPT; together they have founded Rx Performance Therapy and The Performance Lab where they provide mental skills training and movement consultation services for individuals seeking non-pharmacologic interventions to optimize performance and pursue wellness. Additionally, MaryEllen provides psychiatric care in an inpatient setting where she oversees the care of individuals in acute psychiatric crisis. While MaryEllen is passionate about psychiatric care and the importance of preventative mental health, her highest calling and greatest joy comes from being the mother to two spirited children. Her greatest desire is to raise her children to understand the value of kindness and responsibility while embracing their God-ordained purpose. She intentionally reinforces the ideas “I can do hard things” and  “practice kindness” while attempting to model this for her children. In her free time, MaryEllen enjoys doing nothing. When she feels compelled to do something you can find her practicing latte art, sipping coffee, baking scones, off-roading with her family and feeling guilty about not exercising.
