EP:27 " I Grew Up Living In A Shed " – Anonymous

EP:27 " I Grew Up Living In A Shed " – Anonymous

➡️ Introducing our anonymous guest who has a background in criminology, psychology and she works in mental health. She was 5 yeas old when her parents divorced. Her father lived in a shed in rural Brisbane. A shed that was filled to the brink as her father was a hoarder. 😳 The property was deemed unliveable by the local council, so they weren't able to open windows and do things like make noise or play outside although they had friends living on the same street. They had to live in the shed in secrecy. 😔 Life was not easy at all, with a mentally unstable father who would have outbursts often and a mother who was physically abusive. 😢 A legal contract to save the property would see things become even more difficult  with a legal battle that would soon ensue with her father. ⛔ His parting words after being evicted were: " All the time I spent looking after you and your brother, I could've been out there screwing other woman! " 👈 Tune in to hear more of Anonymous journey. 🎙 “ There Is Hope & You Can Overcome It " – Anonymous 💜 “You Are Not Alone”. 💜

When a young family member passed away, Dr. Faafetai stood at the funeral and heard a message that hit home and literally shifted his entire trajectory making the decision to go back to school. 👈

Dr. Faafetai realised upok returning to school that the school work wasn't what he was up against, he was battling his own thoughts associated to his identify. 💯

There was no one that looked like me at school which made it harder to see this in my reality. 🤔

EP:26 " My Boys Found Their Father Hanging " – Anonymous

EP:26 " My Boys Found Their Father Hanging " – Anonymous

⚠️ ** Trigger Warning ** ⚠️

➡️ This particular interview with our anonymous speaker is very raw, emotional, honest and real. A mother of five beautiful children, who received a heart breaking call to advise that her ex-partner had passed away from suicide and sadly it was her two young sons who found their fathers body. 😭

In the aftermath the boys:

🔰 Couldn't sleep
🔰 They'd have nightmares
🔰 They were afraid of the dark and would stay up until early hours of the morning.
🔰 Left with anger, hurt and so many unanswered questions

My boys now wonder why they weren't enough for their father to have made a different choice. Something that will continue to haunt them for the rest of their lives. 😭

I still carry guilt, wondering if their father would still be here if I had of called or sent him a message or asked the question "are you okay?". 😔

Although you may want the pain to end, it will still continue through your family and loved ones. 😢

I believe that love conquers all and one day I can only hope that my love will penetrate through their anger straight to my boys hearts. 💜

Tune in to hear more of this heartbreaking interview from Anonymous. 🎙

EP:24 " My Mother Could See Straight Through My Arm " – Alexx de Beer

➡️ Introducing Alexx de Beer who is a mother of two beautiful children and a wife. Originally from South Africa, Alexx grew up in and around the land. She is one determined woman who is able to preserve no matter the circumstances.

Alexx was on their family potatoe farm playing as you do in and around her mother as a young child. 🙈🙊🙉

She reached up to grab something on the conveyor belt and her clothing got caught up in the clogs of a huge machine. This machine would continue to pull her clothing through its large teeth like clogs and would start chomping on Alexx' little four year old arm like it was nothing... 😱

Her mother stood their torn unsure whether to leave her child to get help, yet at the same time she knew if she did her little girl wouldn't make it. 😢

I was losing conciousness and blood spots were appearing on my body, I was choking to death... 😰

Greg grew up in Sydney and had a fairly normal childhood with no major events he found he was able to excel very quickly at different tasks he was given in different roles. 👊

He was only young when he enlisted in the Navy, it wasn't something he always wanted to do he kind of fell upon the opportunity when it was introduced by someone and thought I'll give it a go. 🙌

Things were going great in the service, he made life long friends and then one day whilst his ship was out at sea they got woken up at 3am in the morning. It was pitch black, freezing and they had a a mission to complete. 👍

The first lot of individuals had made it safely down and now it was Greg's turn, as he threw out the rope and did a manoeuvre he had done plenty of times before the unthinkable happened. 😱

Before he knew it, he was being dragged alongside this huge ship, in the dark of the morning, the seas were rough and he could feel himself being pulled towards the propellers. 🥶 Tune in to hear more of Greg's journey. 🎙

E22: " There Must Be Something Wrong With Me - Racquel Todor

➡️ Introducing Racquel Todor who is a sport, trauma and youth counsellor who has lived experience with suicide and self harm, complex trauma, PTSD, depression, borderline personality disorder and bulimia. There are many parts of Racquels life she is unable to recall although she does remember as a child her make believe friends she had created because of the experiences she was suffering from. It was her brains way of coping. 👈 On one occasion Racquel remembers being invited to a party, she was so excited to attend. Got all ready and went to the address only to find... 🙌 That there was no party and the whole thing had been set up. 🤷‍♀️ This would set the scene for intense bullying from being different, a journey that would have Racquel continuously asking herself what was wrong with her, why did no one choose her or when they did she would simply be the laughing stock. 😪 I always wanted to be a part of something, I always wanted to belong and wanted friendship so badly... 😔 “ Everyone Is Hurting & Everyone Doesn't Know WTF They're Doing ” – Racquel Todor 💜 “You Are Not Alone”. 💜

EP:15 “ My Brother Lost His Life to Mental Illness “– Tom Augustsson

➡️ Introducing Tom Augustsson who is originally from parts of Northern Europe who is very passionate about speaking about mental illness, educating others on recognizing signs, and helping to break the associated stigma. ✅ When Tom arrived at work, he noticed a lot of his colleagues had arrived late that morning, not thinking too much of this he continued his day. 🤔 At 9.45 am he received a phonecall from his father and was met with the sound of heavy breathing as he could not speak. Eventually, his mother jumped on the line and uttered eight words… We’re very sorry, your brother John has died. 😭 Tom’s stomach dropped, he was in shock and grief and would soon learn that the impact of his brother’s passing had not only affected him and his family, but it had rippled out to so many others on that day. 😢 Much later I would often think to myself if this were preventable if we could’ve helped John in some way the first responders, the staff, the patrons they would not have been impacted by the trauma of being at that event on that day. 💯 Tom is now an advocate for GROW which is a 12-step program mental health support program based on lived experience which helps people recovering from mental illness based on similar principles of AA. 👍 After utilising their services for himself, they really helped educate Tom with strategies, tools, and understanding more about people and the reasons they might abuse substances or similar.
