Hot-Type Podcast

The podcast title, Hot-Type, is a printing and typography term. Hot metal typesetting is a technology for typesetting text in letterpress printing. The method injects molten metal into a mold that has the shape of one or more letters, numbers, graphics, etc. The final product is later used to press ink onto paper. This was the standard method used for mass-market printing from the late nineteenth century until the arrival of phototypesetting and then electronic processes beginning in the 1950s. It seemed like an appropriate title for a podcast like this.

Each episode of Hot-Type will explore a story I, or my friends, have discovered. Our focus will be on stories from the 19th and early 20th centuries and will not be limited to any particular genre of story. Anything that we find interesting, and that we think listeners will find interesting, will be fair game. Stories may look at tragic events, some may explore humorous persons or events, true crime, you name it. Anything goes.
