22. Playing House Before Marriage
We all want to find a love that lasts, and in this current culture of high percentage of marriages ending in divorce, there can be a lot of fear to commit to someone in marriage. This can lead to couples doing what I call, “PLAYING HOUSE.”
Playing house is trying to take the benefits of marriage without the commitment of marriage.Playing house looks like:
- Having sex before marriage
- Living together before marriage
- Delaying marriage (but wanting the other to stay committed)
Sometimes the logic of trying something before we buy it seems like we should apply it to marriage, but that works for a car not for a husband or wife—at least not in the way we think.
I do think you should try out the relationship in the sense that you spend time with and get to know the honest and true version of the individual to see if they are the one you want to marry.
21. Work A 9-5 or Own A Business
Many people are turning toward the gig economy as job security, and job happiness, seem to decrease. In fact, 36% of people in the U.S. workforce were freelancers in 2020. But some people still seem to prefer working a 9-to-5 job. In terms of security and a happy life, should you work a 9-to-5 or start a business?
A 9-to-5 job provides structure, benefits that entrepreneurship doesn’t (like a 401k, insurance, paid days off, etc). It’s also nice when you prefer having a work/life balance and being able to meet with people on a regular basis. 9-to-5’s do offer the opportunity for growth, and many can help you utilize your college degree if you have one.
If you are a creative and don’t like to do things by the book, then pursuing entrepreneurship may be more your speed. The perks of starting your own business can include working at your leisure, choosing the type of work you’d like to do, and working from anywhere. You could also build multiple streams of income all at the same time, without worrying about adding yet another task to your plate.
Let us know your thoughts!
20. Doing Business with Friends & Family

Yes, that may be true but the people closest people to you can also hurt you the most. When doing business with someone it takes more than just love. It even takes more than trust. You must also be able to know someone's character, their track record doing business, how do they respond to adversity, and do you all the same vision! Even then that is still not enough, it is important to have proper legal paperwork and accounting procedures to avoid any pitfalls. If a person can pass all the prerequisites then you should consider doing business with them because there is always a chance it could work in your favor!
