The Humanimal Connection is a podcast series from Humanimal Trust, which brings together guests from the human and veterinary medical professions, the nursing profession and the allied health and scientific disciplines for a One Medicine conversation discussing a variety of topics. Closer relationships and greater collaborative practices between human and veterinary medicine will result in all humans and animals benefitting from sustainable and equitable medical progress, but not at the expense of an animal's life. This is One Medicine.

In this first episode, we will be talking to Humanimal Trust Trustees, Professor Roberto La Ragione and Dr Ben Marshall on the origins of the Charity and about our vision of One Medicine. We'll then be travelling to Kruger National Park, South Africa to talk to Dr Johan Marais, Founder of Saving the Survivors, a team of wildlife vets whose mission is to save every animal that has fallen victim to poaching or traumatic incident. Dr Marais talks to us about the work of Saving the Survivors and how they have adapted techniques from human medicine to use in the field to treat rhinos with severe facial and gunshot injuries caused by poachers.
