24. Voices of Western – Early days of Humans of Western – back to 2014 when it all started

In today's episode, Hossein is joined by Emily Nguyen and Cathy Chen, co-founders of Humans of Western, who started this club back in the 2013-14 school year.

They initially met through the Shad Program as high school students and a few years later became roommates in Elgin hall during their first year at Western University. While living in residence, Emily and Cathy were so inspired by 'Humans of New York' that they created their own 'Humans of Western (HoW)' version back in the 2013-14 school year. And as you can see, it's something that has been going on to this day.

For those who don't know, HoW is an entirely student-run initiative devoted to exploring the small, inspirational moments happening every day at Western University. We do this by interviewing students, staff, faculty, alumni, and affiliates about their hopes, dreams, hardships, funny moments, and more.

Tune in to learn about the early days of HoW on campus and the traction it got, the entrepreneurial skills that were used to make it a success, and life post-graduation as Emily is pursuing her medical residency at UBC and Cathy is working in a Product role at a Tech Startup in the UK.
