Self Awareness

Self Awareness

Self awareness is vital to self-improvement. Your PROBLEM may be obvious to everyone but YOU.

Let's face it,  we ALL lie to ourselves about something. However, before we can make meaningful change, we've got to get very honest with ourselves.  Often times, our struggles and difficulties stem from blind spots which are shielded by ego defenses and our own personal collection of BS... Self-awareness is the only way out! Are you ready friend??? Ready to take complete control of your circumstances and get out of your own way? Well tap in friend!

.

Benefits to practicing self-awareness:

.

💎 It can make us more proactive, boost our acceptance, and encourage positive self-development (Sutton, 2016).

💎 Self-awareness allows us to see things from the perspective of others, practice self-control, work creatively and productively, and experience pride in ourselves and our work as well as general self-esteem (Silvia & O’Brien, 2004).

💎 It leads to better decision-making (Ridley, Schutz, Glanz, & Weinstein, 1992).

💎 It can make us better at our jobs, better communicators in the workplace, and enhance our self-confidence and job-related well-being (Sutton, Williams, & Allinson, 2015).

Music as medicine

Music as medicine

Have you ever noticed how music has the ability to alter your mood or take you back to a specific place or time in your life? Research demonstrates that music can affect your attention, perception, emotions, cognition, behavior, and communication (Koelsch et al., 2009).  . . The British Academy of Sound Therapy conducted a study on the musical recommended daily allowance. They set out to determine if there was a recommended daily amount of music impacting various mood states and what type of music was commonly used to produce this effect. Of the 7,581 people test, they found that: 💎 90% used music to relax  💎 82% used music to improve their moods  💎 47% used music to process and/or release sadness  💎 33% used music to aid in concentration  . . 🎯Paging Dr. Teel Topics:🎯 On this week’s episode of Paging Dr. Teel, we’re tapping into the therapeutic power of music! I’ll discuss six proven benefits of music therapy, and provide practical methods to use music as medicine for stress management &  emotion regulation. . . 🚨🚨l'm HERE for you so I want to HEAR from you! 🚨🚨 #TapinFriend:  https://anchor.fm/i-am-drteel/message   Instagram.com/PagingDrTeel   www.PagingDrTeel.com

Assertive Communication: A High Demand Soft Skill & Tool of Interpersonal Excellence, Part 4 of 4

In general, assertive communication is most likely to lead to respectful and longer-term relationships, so that’s the style to strive for in most situations. Assertive communicators can express their own needs, desires, ideas and feelings, while also considering the needs of others. Assertive communicators aim for both sides to win in a situation, balancing one’s rights with the rights of others. Additionally, assertive communicators are often more likely to be high in emotional intelligence (EQ) which is currently a high demand soft skill in regards to employment. Research has found that on an average, people with high EQ make $29,000 more per year than people with low EQ but for obvious reasons. Emotional intelligence improves problem solving capabilities, resilience, communication & self management practices. Happy people are not only healither but they are also much easier to work with. A Pause for the Cause: Picking up the Pieces, Episode 12

A Pause for the Cause: Picking up the Pieces, Episode 12

To live in a harmonious pluralistic society we have to acknowledge and account for the collective duality of the human experience that is good or bad. We are either good or bad. Good or bad is a choice we can all make regardless of the divisive “isms.” There are forces in society that hold us together & pull us apart. Healing, growth, and love can be the start we all need to encourage sustainable change.

Communication Matters: Responding instead of Reacting, Part 2 of 4, Episode 11

Emotional intelligence or EQ comprises intrapersonal and interpersonal skills — in particular high adjustment, sociability, sensitivity, and prudence. Thousands of scientific studies have tested the importance of EQ in various domains of life, providing compelling evidence for the benefits of higher EQ with regards to work, health, and relationships. For example, EQ is positively correlated with better leadership, job performance, job satisfaction, happiness, and well-being (both physical and emotional). EQ is negatively correlated with counterproductive work behaviors, psychopathy, and stress proclivity. Emotional intelligence allows for greater interpersonal responsiveness & decreases the likelihood of emotional reactivity. #motivation #happy #inspiration #positivepsychology #talk #interpersonalskills #emotions #wellnesswarrior #wellnesslifestyle #holisticwellness #wellnessblogger #healthtalk #healthwellness #wellnessjourney #positivity #balance #lifelessons #explorepage #emotionalhealth #inspire #holistic #wellness #anxiety #anxietyrelief #stressrelief #selfcare #mentalhealthmatters #communication

"Accountability leads to success.....Why? When people take responsibility for their actions they make changes that lead them to do things differently, to do new things, and/or to stop doing things that have held them back.... The fact of the matter is that successful people are accountable."
