Prior to joining Moody’s in 2021, she was executive vice president – worldwide communications at Mastercard and chief communications officer at S&P Global. She previously held a variety of communications positions at American Express and was a journalist for ABC News, where she earned an Emmy award.

Christine has a bachelor’s degree in communications and political science from the University of Michigan.

Founded in 1973, the Commission on Public Relations Education (CPRE) provides recommendations on public relations education for universities and professional associations around the world.


CPRE’s latest signature report, “Navigating Change: Recommendations for Advancing Undergraduate PR Education,” offers an in-depth look into what’s needed and expected of educators and practitioners when it comes to guiding the next generation of PR professionals. The report is based on a survey of nearly 200 educators and just over 460 practitioners, including members from IABC. 


Matt Tidwell, IABC board member, sits down with Drs. Elizabeth Toth and Pamela Bourland-Davis, lead editors of the report, to understand the research and its findings.

Matt Tidwell, PhD, APR, is on the faculty of the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Kansas and directs KU’s master’s degree in digital and integrated marketing communications. Tidwell is a member of IABC’s International Executive Board.


Pamela Bourland-Davis, PhD, is professor of public relations and professional communication and leadership at Georgia Southern University, where she also served as department chair. She was co-editor of the Commission on Public Relations Education’s signature 2023 report, “Navigating Change.” She was the Journal of Public Relations Education’s editor from 2021-2023, SSCA’s past president, and she served in a variety of roles within AEJMC and its PR Division.


Elizabeth L. Toth, PhD, is professor emerita of the Department of Communication at the University of Maryland, College Park. She has produced 10 books and more than 90 refereed journal articles, book chapters, monographs and conference papers on public relations. She has won numerous awards for her research and service. She co-edited the CPRE 2023 Report on Undergraduate Public Relations Education, “Navigating Change.”

Jessamyn developed a taste for public relations while still in college through internships at Abernathy MacGregor and Burson-Marsteller and knew she wanted to spend her career around people who build brands and protect their reputations. With two decades of experience in the function of communications, she’s a credible counselor to clients and candidates who keeps a close watch on where these functions are heading.


Jessamyn is a cum laude graduate of Bucknell University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and education. Having lived in Texas, Switzerland, New York, and California, she approaches work and life with a broad worldview. These days, she and her husband Nick, and the newest addition to their family – their daughter Grace – call California wine country home base. Her Papillons, Olivia and Marlowe, are very much enjoying life with a growing family.


Kamyar Naficy is managing director of Alberin, a strategic communications consultancy for finance, technology and sustainability. With over 20 years of experience, Kamyar advises clients in the US, Europe and the Middle East on all aspects of corporate, financial and marketing communications. Prior to working at Alberin, Kamyar held senior communications positions at JP Morgan, London Stock Exchange Group and UniCredit. Earlier in his career, he worked in investment banking and management consulting. He holds a BA from the London School of Economics and a MPhil in Management Studies from Cambridge University. In 2014, Cook published "Improvise: Unconventional Career Advice from an Unlikely CEO", which shares the wisdom he gained as a cabin boy on a Norwegian tanker, doorman at a 5-star hotel and chauffeur for drunks. In 2015, after speaking on college campuses around the world, Fred accepted an additional position with the University of Southern California as the director of the USC Center for Public Relations at USC Annenberg, whose mission is to shape the future of public relations and those who will lead it — through research, education and thought leadership.


Matt Tidwell, Ph.D., is assistant dean for graduate and professional studies at the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications. He is also a faculty lecturer and the program director for the Integrated Marketing Communications graduate degree program at the KU Edwards Campus. Tidwell is an experienced marketing communications professional with more than 25 years of industry experience working in healthcare, energy and technology companies. In 2018, Tidwell received the Arthur Lowell “Communicator of the Year” award from the Kansas City Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).

Oscar Munoz is the former CEO and chairman of United Airlines (UAL) and serves on the board of directors of Salesforce, CBRE, TelevisaUnivision, and Archer Aviation, a leading Urban Air Mobility company and developer of all-electric vertical take-off and landing (“eVTOL”) aircraft. He serves on the Pentagon’s Defense Business Board, is a trustee of the University of Southern California and the Brookings Institution, as well as an independent trustee for Fidelity.

He is the author of the Wall Street Journal best-selling memoir, “Turnaround Time: Uniting an Airline and its Employees in the Friendly Skies,” published by Harper Business in May 2023. He is co-chair of the 2023 Blue Ribbon Commission for the National Association of Corporate Directors, the authority on best boardroom practices. Since 2022, the Oscar and Cathy Munoz Pave it Forward Foundation has proudly partnered with the American Heart Association (AHA) to create the AHA’s Social Impact Fund, providing financial grants and low interest loans for evidence-based, community-driven work to address heart health inequality.

Under his leadership, United Airlines demonstrated rapid improvement, delivering industry-leading operational reliability, and sustained financial success, with stock value increasing 54 percent during that period. Munoz formally retired as UAL’s executive chairman in May 2021.

Previously, Munoz served as president and chief operating officer of the North American rail-based transportation supplier CSX Corp. A decade of excellent financial performance, including a boost in operating income of nearly 600 percent, earned CSX recognition on the list of Most Honored Companies by Institutional Investor magazine.

He has served in various financial leadership positions across diverse industries, including U.S. West, AT&T, Coca-Cola, and PepsiCo. 

He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business and an MBA from Pepperdine’s Graziadio Business School.

Hispanic Business magazine twice named Munoz one of its 100 Most Influential Hispanics, honoring his journey as an immigrant who, to this date, remains the only person of Hispanic heritage to run a U.S. airline.

Founded in 1973, the Commission on Public Relations Education (CPRE) provides recommendations on public relations education for universities and professional associations around the world.

CPRE’s latest signature report, “Navigating Change: Recommendations for Advancing Undergraduate PR Education,” offers an in-depth look into what’s needed and expected of educators and practitioners when it comes to guiding the next generation of PR professionals. The report is based on a survey of nearly 200 educators and just over 460 practitioners, including members from IABC. 

Matt Tidwell, IABC board member, sits down with Drs. Elizabeth Toth and Pamela Bourland-Davis, lead editors of the report, to understand the research and its findings.

Pamela Bourland-Davis, PhD, is professor of public relations and professional communication and leadership at Georgia Southern University, where she also served as department chair. She was co-editor of the Commission on Public Relations Education’s signature 2023 report, “Navigating Change.” She was the Journal of Public Relations Education’s editor from 2021-2023, SSCA’s past president, and she served in a variety of roles within AEJMC and its PR Division.

Elizabeth L. Toth, PhD, is professor emerita of the Department of Communication at the University of Maryland, College Park. She has produced 10 books and more than 90 refereed journal articles, book chapters, monographs and conference papers on public relations. She has won numerous awards for her research and service. She co-edited the CPRE 2023 Report on Undergraduate Public Relations Education, “Navigating Change.”
