MAD Kwentuhan 45 with Kuya Jao: "Turning Life’s Challenges into Inspiration”
MAD Knb? At certain moments in our lives, we are faced with great and challenging trials. But how are we able to manage and transform these into opportunities? In this MAD Talks episode, our lively hosts, Big Jay and Lord Jay, are joined by one of our resident podcasters and International MAD Ambassador, Kuya Jao, also known as “Small J”, as he narrates his experiences on how he was able to manage and turn his life’s challenges into inspiration. Kuya Jao  placed 7th in the Philippine Nursing Board Exam back in 2015. He then moved to Australia to study again. He is currently based in Canbera, Australia, working as a registered nurse. Before becoming a full-fledge nurse abroad, he had to go through a lot of challenges to support himself financially while studying. He went from selling fish in the market to cleaning the toilet and a lot more. Kuya Jao’s story is a testament to the saying that life isn’t always a bed of roses, but he was able shift these trials as opportunities for growth. As what Kuya Jao shared, “Living a good life is not about having better or having more than others. It’s about having a more positive perspective in every circumstance that is given to us.” When we embody optimism and pursue life as an opportunity, it helps us to get through any obstacle. It can help us move from a state of fear and anxiety into empowerment and inspiration. We are never sure of what lies ahead, but one thing is certain, our future is always full of possibilities.

MAD Kwentuhan 44 with Ate Jobelle: "Letting Go of the Uncontrollable”
MAD Knb? What do you do when everything seems out of control? Do you fret or do you simply let go and find other ways to solve the situation? Join us in this episode as our bubbly and energetic podcaster, Ate Jobelle, also known as “Lady J”, takes her own seat as guest and shares how she learned to let go of the uncontrollable, with our fun duo hosts, Big Jay and Small J. This small but terrible lady is also a Licensed Forester. Ate Jobelle recalls her experience when she served as the MAD Camp Builder in Occidental Mindoro. This was supposedly scheduled in November 2019, however, it was postponed due to the inclement weather. Gladly, they were able to push through with the camp just this March 2020. During this time, there were only three of them who braved and visited the school in Occidental Mindoro. Given the current COVID situation and with such a limited time, they were able to successfully help the beneficiary school and the kids during their visit.  Ate Jobelle reminds us that whatever circumstances we are in, if things go out of our way, we just have to go back to our goal and reason why we even started. We may feel anxious at times as we are being pushed through with our limits, but nevertheless, it is in these situations that we learn most. What we can control over is our own selves, the way we think and how we deal with things. We have to trust that things may not be how we have pictured it to be, but soon enough, we will be able to get through it and realize how liberating it is to be able to accept and let go of the things that are out of our control.

MAD Kwentuhan 43 with Ate Jen: "Building Confidence with your Craft”
MAD Knb? What is something that you are good at and yet you’re too afraid or shy to share to anyone? What inhibits you to share your talents? In today’s MAD Talks Podcast (MTP) episode, our ever-gorgeous podcaster, Catriona J, joins Ate Jen, a MAD volunteer, as she shares her experience on how she was able to build her confidence in her craft. Ate Jen is our MTP Graphic Artist and is currently working as Marketing Specialist in a private company. Ate Jen had so much passion with her craft and being able to share it in the organization, helped in boosting her self-confidence. Sometimes, people will push you to do something because they have so much faith in you and they believe in your talent. This opens a lot of opportunities for us, like being able to discover our own potential. As what Ate Jen said, “we just have to trust in ourselves and give it a try.” The talent that we have is not ours to keep but rather, it is meant to be shared to others. Fear of being judged may hinder us from sharing our talents. We just have to move through that fear and maybe do it anyway.

MAD Kwentuhan 42 with Ate Dyez: "Appreciating Life in the Midst of Adversities”
MAD Knb? Whenever we receive blessings, being grateful seems to be an easy task. But what about when we are faced with adversities, how can we be thankful? In this episode of MAD Talks Podcast (MTP), our hosts, Big Jay and Small J, are joined by Ate Dyez, who’s also a part of the MTP Team. She is originally from Tacloban City. In 2013, she experienced one of the most devastating super typhoons ever recorded, the Super Typhoon Yolanda (internationally known as “Super Typhoon Haiyan”). Ate Dyez shares her first-hand experience during the onslaught of ST Yolanda. It was during this time when she realized that the most important things in life are not our material possessions, but rather, the people around us - our family, the relationships we have built, and the learnings that have been instilled in us. And for these, we have to be grateful. Being grateful amidst adversities will give us a clearer perspective in life. We all go through different storms, but we will be able to rise above these struggles if we learn to appreciate our little wins and acknowledge the people who have always been there to support us. Listen to this episode to know more about Ate Dyez's life-changing story.
