Finding God in the Darkness: Dealing with Adversity in Life and Ministry
Ian and Jonathan discuss how to deal with adversity in life and ministry. They talk about times when things go wrong that are outside of our control, like storms hitting. God uses these difficult times to develop us, mature our faith, and build perseverance. Adversity isn't pleasant but God meets us in those dark places and draws near to us.
They encourage listeners to find God in their struggles, even when they can't feel His presence. They quote Bible verses about God training and disciplining those He loves. They pray that listeners would understand God is with them in the darkness and the dawn is coming.
The key is to see God in adversity and connect with Him during hard times. Even though trouble doesn't feel good, later on it produces righteousness for those who let God train them through it. Authentic struggle and overcoming battles leads to real victory. So when storms hit, put down some anchors like focusing on verses that remind you God is with you in the darkness.

They discuss how having mentors and close relationships act as "guardrails" that provide stability and accountability. They encourage listeners to reflect on their own relationships within the church and how those connections can strengthen their ministry. Overall, the key message is that prophetic gifting must be exercised within the context of community and healthy relationships.

Confidence in God vs Arrogance in Man
In this podcast, Ian and Jonathan discuss how pride can creep into ministry and the importance of humility. They highlight verses that warn against pride and arrogance and emphasize submitting to God and trusting him. Jonathan gives a prayer at the end, asking God to examine their hearts and motives and help them submit their ways to him. The key takeaways are: • Pride can easily creep into ministry, especially when there is success or affirmation from others • God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6) • The antidote to pride is submission to God and trusting him with your future, not relying on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6) • Keeping your identity in Christ, not your ministry, helps guard against arrogance • Examine your heart regularly for any seeds of pride and deal with them before they grow
